How a Knitting Mistake lead to A Finished Cardigan! ✨️☕️ 🌿
Your fabric seems to have a lot of drape. I think you should pick the Garden Sweater. The lace pattern is beginner friendly and you will see it!!!
The Penny Gloves by PetiteKnit and the Bandana Cowl by Purl Soho are great gift knits! I made the Bandana Cowl for my fiance and he wears it every day during the winter :) also, I need to cast on the Rybka Pouch ASAP! It's so stinking cute!!
I love the clara cardigan! I think it would look amazing but I worry the calbes will get lost in the halo of the yarn :(
The Loki or Siri are my preference. The simple style shows off the beautiful wool. Btw my first cardigan with steeks was a baby sweater so it was less scary.
@lillianbarker4292 That's great advice actually! Maybe I could make something smaller to steek🤍✨️
I love the Bookish Cardigan. My hesitation is that your yarn is darker and tweedy so it might not show off all that work. There’s an old Debbie Bliss pattern like this in cotton that I made but it’s harder to knit these details without stretchy wool. Your yarn is beautiful.
Hey, It's called *Pupu* because that means bunny in Finnish and they look like bunny ears. The designer is a Finn. :)
The blue tweed is so gorgeous! I'm obsessed with the texture and color. Also, just to let you know, a balanced yarn is when the ply angle matches the angle of twist in the singles and doesn't kink up on itself. There are a lot of balanced yarns that can have a high twist angle!
What a therapeutic channel to watch!
Thank you✨️🤍
I've made 5 purl pouches thus far and I absolutely love them. The construction of the drawstring casing is so beautifully done. If you're wondering if the pattern is worth it: 100%. So fun, so georgeous, so professionally finished.
ahh amazing! what do you use them for?
@@knittingwitheve One collects all the tiny bits of leftover yarn to stuff things with when I have enough, one has all the wool for an upcoming project, one is in my handbag to corall all the small things (tissues, lotion, medicine), one holds the spare toilet paper in the bathroom!
My vote goes for the basket cardi. I love this stitch. Maybe you can find someone on Ravelry who used a similar yarn to help your decision 😊.
I vote for the basket weave cardi. Do it! It will be gorgeous! If I had to choose a second, it would be the one with the cables on the sleeve.
Thank you!!! ❤️ 🌸
Just a comment on yardage - most designers will pad their yardage estimates 10-20% to account for gauge swatches and small differences in tension. I would not worry over being barely 10 yards short.
thank you! That is true i often finish projects with extra yarn left over
I love the Brady loop for that yarn but it's beautiful and will be gorgeous no matter what you choose 💙
Thanks you!
Beautiful yarn! and also beautiful patterns! To be honest though, personally I would go for a rather simple texture (and bigger texture) because it wouldn't read very well. Not just because of the fuzziness of the yarn but also because of the heathering. I would chose a pattern that lets the texture and color of the yarn itself shine.
Thank you! That's what's making the decision so hard! Haha
i vote LO-KI :D
My vote goes to The Braidy Loop Cardigan ... I think it will look so beautiful in that colour.. Also calling your attention to the sunday Cardigan.. that will look beautiful as well, simple yet elegant
Thanks for sharing!! yes thats true the sunday cardigan is a lovely Knit as well
Wow I had no idea that Gotland had such an intense, natural halo 😍My vote would be for the braidy loop! Maybe you could find spots where you could sub in similar yarns to get the full yardage, like on the bind offs?
Thank you! thats a Great idea!!
Great list! Thank you!
I love so many of these options. I think a textured knit will be so perfect with this rustic yarn. I have wanted to knit the Korshavn so badly thanks to akaNoraKnits! I am knitting the Dagmar jacket right now and also love my Book club cardigan, highly recommend both patterns. whatever you choose out of these will be so beautiful with this fiber 🖤
Thank you so much! It’s definitely been a tough decision, I’m still unsure, hehe 🌻💛 Ouuu! The Dagmar jacket also looks like such a cute, very cozy knit!
Omg I've been waiting for this video! I am so excited to see whatever pattern you choose for this yarn. I do think you seem to vibe with the Korshaven more. Side note- your eyeliner is soooo cute in this video!! Very fall, I love it
I love the excitement!! 😊 & thank you I've been really into this burgundy eyeliner lately💜 hehe
I'm voting for the basket weave stitch cardigan. As you were moving around with your sample swatch on the video, I could see the pattern while you held the swatch in different positions. BTW your yarn turned out so beautiful!
Thank you!!! This is such a hard decision for me for some reason 🫣😅🤭
You could knit either of those garments! Keep in mind that the yardage provided by the designers is usually more than you would need in reality...that said, I think you should go for the Korshavn!!
Not sure if you have chosen yet but the creabea has the stick season jacket coming out in the next month or so which I think would suit the yarn well 😊
Im still on the fence for which pattern to knit hahah I will take a look at her jacket, Thank you!
I think you could knit either. If you look at project pages for the Braidy loop cardigan, people have used just over 1000yd for it. The Korshaven is also beautiful. You inspire me…..I’m off to work on my own sweater spin!!
yeah im still torn between both patterns haha. and Yaay! congrats on starting your own sweater spin!
You made a beautiful batch of yarn! The Korshavn seems to really speak to you and is quite lovely. Why not swatch for it and see if it works with your handspun? If not, you could find a great yarn for it down the road and end up with two beautiful sweaters.
Where is the pattern for the sofie scarf pattern
I have so many leftover fingering yarn and the technicolor purse looks great-need to try it. Thanks for all this great ideas ❤
❤🌈🧶
The Sophie Scarf is such a fun knit and makes a perfect gift. Mittens make a great gift as well. Both Whimsy North and Sweet Skein O'mine have pretty mitten patterns.
sorry I was sure it was there. 😊💖🌺www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sophie-scarf-2

I actually just bought the pattern. I’d been hesitant, but finding several videos on picking your size, deciding on individual pattern elements, how to do the stitches, sleeve separation etc. got me to finally cave into the lure of this pattern. Now the massive TH-cam binge has started, andI even found ways to adapt the pattern to a smaller needle size and recalculate where the arm separation needs to happen, or how to account for wider sleeves and a little less positive ease in the body. All good things considering I am, like you, a spinner as well. And let’s face it: some times a fibre just wants to be spun a certain way. And the Ranunculus is one of those patterns that’s perfect for homespun yarn because it’s basically a build-a-sweater pattern with a beautiful yoke. Looking over the many precise details on stitch count throughout the yoke also means (well, to me…) that if I really want to, I could also go “yoke-less” and simply use short rows or ‘hide’ increases inside bobbles or other decorative stitches or use raglan stitches to mix things up even more. It’s a great start to learn to build your own top down sweater. A past in clothing confection taught me that there’s roughly 5 cm of ease difference between two consecutive sizes. And in a video I just watched I learned a neat trick on how to measure where sleeve separation needs to be done when you don’t have anyone helping you… you can use some scrap yarn tied to a ruler to measure it all by yourself. Yay! 54 years old and I learned something new. Probably casting on tomorrow. Can’t wait…
OMG how cute would the Rybka pouch be as a crossbody phone bag!! 😍😍
that would be the cutest!💛✨
It looks like you had an amazing trip. Turkey is definitly a place I wan't to visit. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Eve! I was wondering where you got that issue of the Sandnes Garn magazine? I'm also from Canada and have a lot of difficulty getting my hands on those. Thanks in advance and happy knitting! :)
I got it at urban yarns in Kitsilano a couple months ago 💛
Oh my gosh hello! My name is also Eve (also short for Evelyn). I wondered if you are French? Your pronunciation of Eve I recognise from when I travel to France. Cool to meet a fellow knitting Eve, adding your podcasts to my 'Watch Later' now!
Have you been watching Rebecca from Hip Knit Hooray 😏 she made some too 😂
tis the season hehe 💛✨
Your sweaters look so soft and cozy! Hope you can get your sweater designs figured out- it looks very classy and would be easy to style. I’m looking forward to follow your fleece to sweater project. I am also learning to spin and currently doing a combo spin with the hope of knitting a sweater…..only on bobbin one, so a long way to go!
Thank you! I hope so too! & Yayy another fibre spinner! I'm sure your yarn will be lovely! Happy spinning! 😊❤
After seeing your version, I really like to try that Fibra Natura, and maybe I’ll make another Ranunculus as yours 😊❤
yaay! it really is such a lovely yarn~
I so feel you on the Cumulous Tee! Mine has been on the needles since literally last summer and I get so bored doing it that it always goes back to the bottom of the pile...
Oh no! Hahah, one day it will be done! 💛🍂
Always enjoy seeing your knits!
Hiiii, I just wanted to say that I've started knitting again (the last time I did i was like 12 so im a beginner). And I've been really liking your videos!☺I was wondering, what is one of your favorite knitting beginner projects you did?
That's awesome! welcome back to knitting, I think any hat or scarf pattern in stockinette is a great way to start! My first knit item, if i remember correctly was the Marseille sweater by petite knit, which was a bit tricky cause it has short rows, but Petiteknit has some other lovely beginner patterns as well. They are very well written and often have helpful videos. Take a look over on Ravelry www.ravelry.com/designers/petiteknit Happy Knitting!
Enjoy making the vacation memories...filming it all somehow removes you from the moment. I'm proud of you ❤ Also I love the vloggy bits you do share, they're a nice addition to the knitting
Thank you ! I'm glad you liked the video I had a lot of fun making it!
Spinning to knit a sweater is one of my goals, too! I keep getting caught up in just how much roving (in weight) do I need to get enough yarn to knit a small-sized adult sweater. I think I tend to spin a thicker yarn than it appears to me as I do the singles. That’s not all bad as I would not need as many yards as I might for a Dk sweater. I’m looking forward to seeing what you pick out to knit and then follow the knit on its journey. 🤗
@@dianekawagoe2330 - A trick I used the first time I needed to figure out the thickness of my singles was to take a commercial yarn of the weight I needed. I cut of a generous foot (or two) of it and split it carefully into singles. I wet those singles to get the kinks out the plying had given to it. Then I used one of those singles as a visual reference. For the fibre weight I calculated how much of the commercial yarn I’d need… and bought a little more of the fibre, just to be certain. Turns out my hand spun is a bit heavier than the commercial stuff, so it’s a good thing I got extra! Now I work a little differently. I know roughly how much I’m going to need. I still always get a bit extra, because leftovers are great to blend in order to ‘extend’ braids of fibre that just kinda sorta accidentally’ end up in my checkout basket when I’m intentionally ordering fibre, and that I want to turn into a project. Hope this helps and happy spinning! Edit: Another useful method is to spin up a sample or a skein in the thickness you want/need, then figure out the yardage and weight. Then order more of the same asap (plus a little extra if you can) to have enough for your project.
@ Thanks so much for this sage advice! This makes a lot of sense and I think I’ll do that in the future. 🤗
@@dianekawagoe2330 - It’s not perfect, and every fibre behaves differently (crimp between wool varieties can vary enormously) which means the thickness of your singles will be affected too. But at least you have an indication. I find it’s a good addition to a ply back test. For bigger spins I’ll ply a few feet of my singles when the bobbin (or spindle) is full. For 3-ply that’ll usually be a chain ply. It doesn’t need to look absolutely perfect. It just needs to provide a reference.
Wonderful!!! Great job! I'm learning too... kisses!
Thank you!! 💛
Yes it can be really hard to know exactly, or a rough estimate of how much you will need for a full sweater. Since this was my first full spin I asked over on reddit for help, and looked at how much weight people were buying for different types of spins they made. www.reddit.com/r/Handspinning/
@@knittingwitheve Thank you, I didn't know that website... ☺
Gotland is a fairly heavy wool. Many longwools are. This means that usually people will get less yardage per pound than they would with a finer wool. Not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind. I'd recommend knitting a swatch with it to find a needle size and stitches per inch that feels right for the yarn, and picking patterns based on your desired gauge. A lot of the time because of the halo and weight Gotland is really beautiful knit more loosely, but it's all a matter of personal taste. 😊
Good to know! Thank you! this is my first experience with a long wool, so I will definitely knit a gauge when I try to find the right pattern
Thank you for this list. I am currently knitting the Darling hand warmers from Purl Soho it is a free pattern and does have a hat that can be made with the set. It knits up quickly and has an easy to memorize stitch pattern. I want to make myself most everything from your list. ❤
Ahh, the Darling hand warmers, such a lovely pattern! Happy knitting! ❤
My current spin is for 1300+ metres (1420+ yards) of lace weight Shetland 2-ply for a shawl. It’s a gorgeous dusty purple and I’ve spun the singles as fine as I could (cobweb or frog hair?) before plying. I still have to weigh the skeins but I’m estimating it’ll be around 100-150 grams total. The pattern I’ll be using is the Maikell Shawl (Estonian lace). Once I’m done with that, I’m planning on knitting a Ranunculus sweater. I’ve got some sinfully beautiful merino/camel/silk blend to spin up for that and I also want it lace weight, to create a sheer, drapey, soft and comfortable sweater to be worn over a top or undershirt. Something to crawl into when life is definitely something you have to face but don’t feel like facing: a luxurious hug that doesn’t weigh you down because let’s face it, some days you just need a hug from morning ‘til evening. Soft, light fabrics are perfect for that. Planning to add a cowl/turtleneck to it, but not entirely sure about that yet. Happy spinning!
Wow!! your projects sound incredible! Spinning such fine lace-weight Shetland for a shawl sounds beautiful, and the Ranunculus sweater in that blend will be so cozy and comforting. Thanks for sharing - very inspiring! Happy spinning!💛✨
I only recently discovered your channel but I really love watching your videos while knitting 🥰 and your spinning videos will definitely be the reason if I come home with a spindle one of these days. Your yarn looks beautiful! Can't wait to see it knit up 😍
As a relatively new spinner (started spindle spinning August of 2023 and bought my first e-spinner that November), I can only recommend it. The drop spindle wasn’t my thing. The supported spindle was. Soon I wanted more. In came a mini e-spinner (Eel Wheel). During Tour De Fleece this Summer I bought my larger e-spinner. I still absolutely love my supported spindle but my regular lunchtime companion on in-office workdays is my mini e-spinner. Spinning after a long and stressful workday means I can relax enough to sleep well. Knitting with my handspun is a joy. A spindle doesn’t cost a lot of money. Neither does a braid or a few nests of medium staple-length of wool fibre. Warning: spinning is addictive.
Thank you so much for watching! and I do I hope you try spinning one day, spindles are a great way to start!💛✨
@@eddavanleemputten9232 thanks for that input! I think I am also leaning toward a supported spindle. Or the Turkish drop spindle kind of looked cool as well 🙊 Haha and thanks for the warning! 😁
@@Lisa-io6jt - Turkish spindles are great! Their best ever feature is that you get a centre pull ball once you’ve filled them. I rigged mine with a longer shaft (bottom part sticks out a bit more) so I could use it supported as well in a bowl wide enough to accommodate the whorl ‘legs’. Supported or suspended, it’s a great spindle to have. Whichever you end up using, give yourself time. You might take to spinning like a duck to water or it might take a while. Either way, spinning is a fun skill to learn for anyone who likes to play around with fibre.
