The offices above were once the new UK headquarters of (Combustion Engineering) CE Lummus. Dad worked for them for years and was based there for a while - I was just a kid when they moved in. Somewhere I've still got the "Welcome to Northampton" pack they gave to all of the employees. Not the most beautiful building but a lot of memories.
Amazing...to watch this the words I will say is...The ENTs team from the 90s could make a movie series... Not sure who would sponsor it... Umm... SONY PRODUCTIONS
Stafford Tower in 2008: Fire Alarms Stafford Tower in 2014: FUCKING DIES😂
And in a flash, a part of your past disappears forever.
It was old, ugly, dirty, stank of piss and it was still miles better than the new bus station.
Sad moment. I loved that building. I've never lived in Northampton, but one side of my family descend from there and I used to visit some of my very elder relatives as a kid in the 80's and 90's. For everything negative said about it, I have very fond memories of the place. I can understand the bad side if things, now I'm an adult. But back then, I found it to have such a charm. It was so exciting, entering the dark void of the concourse. And going through to the Grosenor Centre, via the various bridges and subways. I think it was a fantastic building, one of the greatest bus station designs in the country. I know about the problems, the decay, and why it became hated. But that was mostly down to neglect. The functionality of the place was superb, the council should never have let it get in such a state and kept the investment in it. Improved lighting and spruce up, it would have been fit for purpose even today. Probably my fondest memory is how I'd virtually forget that daylight existed whilst in there, and the blinding re-entry from the mouth of hell back into the world.
Was very old and ugly just needed to re desgin and no offices above it not what we have now
And with this not only did the bus station come to and end, so did Northampton town centre
Also, it worked so much better than the new one. The current station is just no thanks. The one northampton has now, should have gone to somewhere like Daventry. Such a stupud council! The old station was rlly good for its purpose. Simple. Amd the one we have now is not suitable at all. Even if they were to place a new station back where the old one used to be, that would be better. So far there is nothing there and nothing is what will remain. Such a shame
They should have re done the station. It actually cost them more to demolish, remove and then rebuild the new station then it would have been to fixed up the old one which lord i wish they had done
Refurbishment would have been a much cheaper option and could have been done a bit at a time.
Great for travelling as it had a coach area,. Now people have to carry heavy luggage further away. There is not enough space for the buses, drivers often have to go to the wrong bay as theirs is often occupied. Glass ceiling on new one is now filthy with bird droppings.
8 years and still nothing built in its place
The Site has some construction workers but still nothing...
Always liked this station..such a shame
I was there watching it fall. Absolutely amazing to see. Scary tho. The dust was everywhere.
History & memories just gone!
That tree at 0:32 absorbed all that smelly history lol
0:21 Hold up, I forgot my wallet inside the station, I need to run inside and get it lol
It worked better than the one they have now apparently, now there,s progress for you.You can always rely on your council, they are always at a nice steady incompetent level.
It was ugly but it served a purpose, I liked the green bus station better
It was always an incredibly ugly building, but it was functional. What are they going to build in it's place? I've long since left Northampton, but I still have family and friends there. I'm guessing they will eventually build apartments.
They actually put in a new bus station. It's a bit shite, and too small, but it's better than the one one.
An ugly building, but aesthetics can always be improved without the need for demolition. The bottom line is that it worked and the new bus station clearly does not.
Looks like they're just building replicas of the ones they blew up to replace them. Typical council frivolity with taxpayers money.
The day northampton died
Yep 😔😔😔😔😔😔
Not really. It was a shit bus station, good it went. Trouble is that they replaced it with something equally as shit, just in a different way!
That new bus station was leaking
poor birds got no home
I got stuck in a lift in that place, once.
tim I can see you're ok
It was Good and i not like it was broking
Riiiiiipppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
The very ruined northampton town centre the bus station is way to small should have kept the old bus station it was ugly yes I agree but at least you could catch a bus in the dry / warm
I visited Northampton a few times and I experienced Greyfriars Bus Station, and I hated it. It freaked me out BIG TIME, and not many things freak me out. This definitely was The Mouth Of Hell
Fuck those Americanised idiots i love this building so much and it is far too short
The building falling down is an apt metaphor for David Mackintosh’s political career
They should have demolished the building behind it .it's ugly
Goodbye and good riddance, you ugly piece of crap.
The only 6
That is one big fart

No. Just no.
Well, it is a good thing that old bus station has gone for ever and I like the new bus station better, it is so clean and bright by waiting for my bus for home.
Bolux.....the old one was so much better
@@jaysketch2476 I agree. It was warm in the old one.
The old bus station was better
Bullshit I like the old one the new one is bag of shit 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
New bus station is shit
Thankyou for this upload and for the respectful way you dealt with a job very well done. I used the station for 24 years. Something told me not to watch the live demolition even though I live very nearby....I felt it happen at home. It was younger than me. I cried. A lot. At the waste. I also refused to watch footage until I heard this one, presented decently. I saw the station most days in the last 7 years and tended to look at it in awe, especially if I walked along side it.
Another freaking inside job! Seriously is happening all over the place.
Sounds like when Israel did 9/11
Moses Bullrush you see how them mutts react
itsinmynamechap . . . the Global Warming Wall Street Carbon Tax Swindle is also Jews trying to finagle the goiim.
@@mosesbullrush8051 what in gods name are you saying man?
awesome!!!!
Feel sad? I had many happy years working there.
was there any damage to the surrounding building or did it all go well?
went all well.
Fantastic.
Nice work! Wish I'd been there to see it. 8-) A pity that the first two cameras had no sound.
All you would of heard would be, "buzzzzzzzzzzzz" if the drone recorded sound. DJI's, "Inspire 1" drone doesn't record audio which leaves more bandwidth for more images on the same memory card. The person editing this clip could of easily dubbed over the sound in time with the demolition, but for what ever reason, they decided not to which resulted in not so interesting video clip in my opinion.
***** you must be the most boring person ever!
