Spending the day at a French Castle (train trip from Paris)
Spend the day at Château de Fontainebleau with me on a beautiful spring day. We'll explore some of its 1,500+ rooms, walk the castle grounds, and relax in the garden. It's only an hour train ride from Paris, but feels like a calm, magical world of its own.

Hello Nicolette. Thank you for taking time to share this information. It was most helpful. ❤
How about a little video on how to set up a bank account without yet having an apartment? And/or how to get an apartment without yet having a bank account?
there's a many places in France where water is hard. I don't know where you lived in the south of France, but it's usually hard in most places... only specific places, in mountains, or on special rocks, get a soft water. You say you were in Toulouse, you where lucky in this region, the water is soft, due to the close mountains, i guess.
Just to say that I experienced looking for a studio in Paris more than 20 years ago and it was a nightmare already. I found one after a month, and I lived in the same studio for 3 years there. When I had to leave, the landlord was so bumped because it's hard to find tenants that pay rent on time and don't make any problem to the neighbors, the landlord
Life is an adventure, embrace it (French expat in Dayton)
Hi! I would be leased to learn Hindi and possibly teach you a thing or two about American English. I am 73 years old and I live in California. 😅
That is, pleased. Sorry about the typo.
This video was so interesting 😊 Have you made any videos about what your experience have been to be a student? I’m moving to Toulouse. I’m glad I found your channel. I haven’t seen too many American creators in Toulouse specifically! 😍
Hi ! I don't think you mentioned the "encadrement des loyers". That's super super important to mention. The chambre de bonne you saw that cost 600e were probably above the encadrement and so illegal. Basically, rent can not surpass a certain amount per sqm, (landlords sometimes try to go around it with a "complément de loyer" but it's illegal). A lot of time rents on renting websites will be too high. It's possible to bring your rent down even after having signed your lease. If you look up encadrement des loyers there is info on the internet. PS never tell the landlord or the agency that you know the price is too high before you sign. They will just choose someone else.
Also I love your vibe and you kinda have a similar energy to Bestdressed!!
Thank you for sharing 💙💙
Thank you so much 💙 for sharing valuable information 💙
Useful video but one thing I miss is what sort of payments do u have to make when u move in? Is it 1 or 2 months’ deposit, what percentage is agency fee if you are going with an agency, what bills are there to pay? Can u choose utility providers, do u need a landline for internet, how do you get back the deposit after moving out (any legal guarantee that the landlord gives it back). Do u do inventory check when u move in (etats de lieux or similar). Do u have to pay anything to reserve an apartment in advance to have it taken off the market? In London we have something called Holding Deposit that we lose if we change our mind.
Great Video, thanks. Yes Fontainebleau is one of the most interesting castles to visit, no other castles had so much kings and emperors in its walls and beds. Most Tourists flock To Versailles but to my opinion Fontainebleau should be a must go for every history enthusiast. And definitely a nice break from Paris!
Great vlog, thanks for sharing your daily life far away from home! That thing with the laundry😂 yes everyone who had an apartment in Paris got through that! Welcome in France, as an art lover Paris for you is a treat!
Great video. I love your natural style without all the pretentiousness of other TH-camrs. Keep it up

Hello Nicolette, thank you for all the information. Excellent to know. Thank You for sharing all your ups and downs and ins and outs of your apartment finding journey in Paris. Hope you are well settled and happy.
Hello Nicolette, I am a Nicolette as well. I am enjoying your You Tube channel. I am in US, I have plans to come to Paris next year to hopefully connect more with my heritage, and where I was born. So I will be learning about it as well from you before I get to Paris.
Welcome! , enjoy! have fun!
You can sit on the grass in Buttes Chaumont, Parc de la Vilette, or Parc André Citroën for example. Bois de Vincennes is amazing too, opposite side to Bois de Boulogne.
Bienvenue en France ! and yes, immersing in a new language is such a strain on the brain, this is what is felt by the entire world trying to lear english ahah
thanks, it was a very very detailed video!
you are funny!!, can you share the cost of the rent please
You just reassured me for my move! I’ll be moving to Toulouse for at least a year (I hope much longer!) in August. I feel a lot more comfortable with the move thanks to this video!
Oh fantastic! How exciting 😊 I'm sure you'll have a beautiful time in Toulouse. The city really welcomed me so openly and warmly ❤ Bonne chance!
Hi, I am Sri Lankan girl. I am 20 years old. I like to write letters. It is my hobby. I like to meet friends from different countries and share my information with them.. Share a lot of information about me like the beauty of my country. Shells, flowers, green leaves, sea, knitted clothes, they are my friends.
Would You Like To be My Pen Pal !
I can be your penpal. Am from Nigeria
I'm so happy to find someone who chose to live in Toulouse :D I hope you like it ! I think its a great choice because you are close to the mountain & the sea, there is a decent airport which allows you to go almost everywhere in Europe, and its a studend city (Second or Third in ranking in France) so its quite vibrant, you will find a lot of people speaking English or Spanish ! Downside it might be very hot in Summer just like Spain ^^'

Hi @hellonicollette, thanks for the thorough info. In a couple months, my husband and I will move to Marseille. How about the market there? and if you could update related to the agent fee (if we look through them) and the typical deposit fee that would be a great addition.
The Pim's Cult would like to know your location. We just want to talk.
This is so interesting , I am Dutch , debtless , free , European pass , really fluent in french , seeking my life destination to grow happily old , easily connecting to people , having a life long experience traveling in and through France , very flexible and adaptable.... but , never came to the point to make a definitve move to France while acknowledging its incredible wealth in diversity and culture. There is something that stops me and my partner to put roots in France......I just cannot grasp the French essence of being...am I too Germanic , too frugal , too realistic .... knowing why the French are largely unhappy in that douce France...there is no perfect place nowhere , but France is special... you catch the French Dream virus and you work yourself through the barricades and thrive...as you do !!.... or , you keep on contemplating it after each visit and mull what you feel and think..... for me personellement , the image just doesnot stick in my deeper self .... in a way you have it good to be driven by a genuine longing.... I am happy for you , ne cessez de célébrer la vie ! 💥
After seen your video i'm ok to live as a single person... But only with you ^^ Kiss from France (And nice video as always ;)
Orange pims is favorite French snack
So good video! Living in Sweden, I am Looking for a pen pal to learn Hebrew and to meet more people across the EU.
Awww!! I’m so glad I saw this! I’m not the only one! I totally started learning italiano because of Maneskin too!!! I have been using Pimsleur. But I may have to take the classes you used too! That sounds awesome! Hit me up if you ever want to chat about or crazy scheme! lol. 😂🎉❤
Thanks for the video, for bonne apres-midi can we use it for greetings? Or it should be used for saying goodbye? 👍🏻
Hello. Nice to see how you appreciate your decision to move and upset your life (new language, new friends, new rythms). The bargain looks worth the price ! :)
Didn't you realize you were ready for this once you where already in France ?
Yay, St Sernin, la Garonne, Matabiau, le canal ... If I'm not mistaken I saw Castres too ? There aren't many Americans who speak about my city, it's great to change from Paris. I see that you moved to it now, but since you said you're team chocolatine forever, it's ok XD
Had an idea of trying to get “news” from different individuals around the world. Like, they could give their take on different issues and just how things are going in their area of the world.
Toilet paper is also scented in Mexico.
Beautiful apartment. What is the rent? Just want to get an idea for this spacious 35 sqm apartment.
5:19 First time I see a poney with a sticker on. Too bad the ink faded... ;)
At 5:16 the plates and soup tureens are "Lunéville" glaze earthenware. Lunéville is a city of the Lorraine (Grand-Est) region, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle département, and it is famous for its embroidery artisanery and the glaze earthenware.
Glad you like it here, it fixes our bad reputation ! Paris is fire isn t it?
Hi Nicolette: My name is Darren, I'm American, so of course my focus and question for you is about money, and how you can afford to live in France. Is it through school loans or just personal savings? I'm enjoying your videos and Thanks for posting! :)
Thank you Nicolette with an authentic testimony of life abroad. Frenchman (Parisian) here and even as a teenager I was interested in living abroad, first in Germany for 3 month. Total immersion as Studentproktikum, loneliness, discoveries then after 2 month the switching to dreaming in a foreign language. Then I worked in the USA on multiple occasions but discovered the American and southern way of life (Atlanta). That time I was married so the immersion was not so complete (my wife and son adored the life in Atlanta) but it happened so many times that I felt at home in the US. Among many other smaller trips, I worked in mainland China, first Nanjing and then Beijing for over 6 months in one go. There I experienced the language barrier: If you don't speak Beijingese or Mandarin, then you cannot exchange (talk) with the people there. I tried to learn it but with poor results So, yes, it is about loneliness, language barrier, time zones, flight times (often 12 to 18 hours as I discovered that flying to LA was faster than flying to Jobourg (Johannesburg) but it is so much fun to discover other cultures. I must say that each time I was flying back home, I rediscovered France (my, it is so pretty)
Boo hoo. This is a comedy. And it is not meant to be serious!
So gorgeous! A special kind of glitter at night
