This video is so encouraging! I'm so glad God led me to your channel. I can't wait to get my planner! My homeschool mentors, Da'Quisha and Dominique, have been such a Godsend! I've dealt with such anxiety about homeschooling. I knew it was what I was called to, but I felt everything had to be perfect. I am finally in a place where I KNOW I am qualified for this role. A family member tried their best to convince me last week to put my daughter in public school. Because of community and my confidence in God, I was unmoved. The way you communicate really resonates with me. As a fellow Kansan, it makes me feel like you're a real person, not just a person on TH-cam. I hope you all are safe in the storm. Yesterday didn't go as planned, but that's the beauty of homeschool. I'm learning not to force things. I can adjust our learning day to the needs of my children. I am working on routines in our home to make my life less stressful. I even referenced one of your videos last night while talking to my husband about my tendency to clean during school time.

At what grade would u say it becomes independent with math ?

We use CLE reading and math right now and love it! I'm debating if i want to switch over to CLE L.A from Rod and Staff or not. We'd start from level 200 and use only phonics and grammar section. People have told me that it's better to switch to something else that has only grammar bc CLE would be a waste if I'm only going to use grammar section. We like Rod and Staff English for deep explanations but i love the spiral approach of CLE and the fact that he can write in light unit and not in the notebook 😅 any advice?

My autistic child was not making progress in Language Arts and is now thriving. The biggest thing is that they direct teaching all new concepts and review. None of this vague learn phonics from reading a poem or that we'll just magically learn it through reading. I only grade the self check at the end of each light unit. My kiddo has testing anxiety so we treat it as a lesson. I keep an eye on what kiddo might be need more review in to focus on. Plan to wait to grade until middle school.
