    I like those side drawer units. All mine open at the back but I have to move my hives to make that accessible. Did you build or buy your traps? They sure cost a lot but those are certainly the best traps out there

    Very interested in purchasing your bee pollen, however on the website in the pictures all of the pollen grains look to be the same or similar in color. I've read the best bee pollen should have multiple colored granules in it.

    what do you use to clean the bee pollen?

    • @rarehawaiianhoneycompany8902
      @rarehawaiianhoneycompany8902 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. We started by purchasing an expensive commercial pollen cleaner. It did a terrible job and it also jammed up all the time. Now we use a series of sieves, and we pour the pollen in front of a big fan.

    I have a question. I plant flowers to attract bees. I've seen a few large bumble bees. I've noticed that the bees have been leaving pollen on my porch. It's strange. I don't remove it I am thinking the bees come back to collect the pollen it disappears after a few days. Is that's whats happening??

    • @rarehawaiianhoneycompany8902
      @rarehawaiianhoneycompany8902 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oddly enough, the bees won't come back for that pollen. When I'm collecting pollen I always spill some on the lids of the hives, and the bees don't ever pick it up. But I'm also wondering if perhaps the bumble bees you're seeing might actually be carpenter bees? They will bore a hole in the wood of your house and leave wood debris on the ground.

    Wow! I'm so glad you're a responsible farmer. I love those bees and it breaks my heart to see them subjected to these conditions by being transported around the country. This makes a strong case for growing organically. If the farmers did that, and set up hives on their property, it would be a win win situation. I plant for the bees on my property. They've got the Japanese Holly hedge that they go crazy for in the spring. I let broccoli go to flower for them as well as other goodies. I love to be around them as they are so gentle. Yeah, I talk to them!

      Thanks for the kind words, Rebecca! One of the most difficult things we face when marketing our Kiawe Honey is getting people to understand that not all honey varieties taste the same! It's really hard to do remotely (like advertising), but if we do gourmet food shows we just tell people to stop talking and try it...that always works!

      Thanks for being a long-time, loyal consumer of our honey! Our company is on the Big Island, and our bees are moved around to catch different blooms at different times of the year. But our number one varietal, the organic Kiawe Honey, is produced on the leeward/dry side of the island.
