Saltiga or talica?
Hmmm? I've not fished the Talica but heard it is a rock solid choice also.
why not get the 16NA or the ocea jigger 2500
I think the 16NA would be just as tall as the regular 16A, but with the narrow spool. I was looking for something more "palmable" than the 16 series-- something a tad smaller.

Hi there any issues with buying the Japanese models ? I’m also looking to buy a Calcutta conquest from Japan. Everyone at the fishing stores told me to stay away from Japanese models.
I've bought 6+ reels from Japan and never had any issues. They tell me that the reels can't be serviced in the US, but I've never had any problems requiring me to ship the reel back to Japan. If you go with a reputable retailer you shouldn't have any problems.
the new LD are an amazing reel, ive got a 35spj single speed and it is amazingly smooth and powerful. I see there is a new '22 15size star drag saltiga that ive out on order from my local for a new setup.
35JH is super silky smooth. 40lb drag. So king. its better ocea2000, 4000. its legendary.
Would love to see how the main gear and pinion compare on all these.
How you liking it for SPJ?
Believe it or not I have not used it yet. Been caught up fishing backcountry… hopefully I’ll put it through its paces soon.
Is the brake easy to get too on the Calcutta conquest 400?
yes very easy but i hardly use it on mine i just adjust the tension for my lures weight
How does the size of the Daiwa 20 match against the F custom 2000? Is it bigger?
I believe the OJ 2000 is the same size as the Trinidad 16, so the Saltiga would fit in between them...
@@dennispenton6872 Thank you! Hopefully it is, because I ordered 1 Saltiga LD20 online hoping its smaller than the F custom. They dont carry US and AU domestic reels here, only JDM, so I went purely on gut feel. Thanks for the video and for your help!
@@mitchellmak Yes it is. The Daiwa 20 is around the same size as the Accurate Valiant 400 and Talica 8ii. Right in between the OJ 1500 and 2000. I have no doubts you will really like it. It's smooth with excellent free spool and drag.
@@dennispenton6872 @Dennis Penton Hey Dennis, managed to get the LD20 20-2spd. Everything about the reel feels amazing and fits perfectly on my slow jigging rod, with the exception for the handle. When i crank it, it does not stop in its track. There is slight free-play, meaning if it hold the spool tight, I am able to move the handle back and forth a couple of millimeters, like its slightly loose. I'm not a lever drag user, so is that normal? Do you have that issue with the F custom and talica?
@@mitchellmak that is how ALL lever drags are. theres a tiny play between all handles and body. atleast tahts how it was for my saltiga 402 speed and talica 10 2 speed. theres tiny play i think it has to do with the 2 speed gears.
Yea it wasn’t the worm gear, and I do not really know what it was. I did takeoff the side plate and lubed the main gear and the shaft and a few other parts that looked to be low in oil or grease. When I put it back together the noise was gone, so problem solved.
It’s from the level wind. I had same noise coming from there and I lightly apply grease on worm gear and the level wind where it sits on the worm gear shaft cover.
Sorry to hear it broke, Did you get it replaced under warranty.
What’s the lure rating
I suspect the ball bearing in the handle knobs need oil or it is the worm gear, pawl or level wind that need oil
