This is how I display some of my electronic handheld games (Mattel, Coleco, etc.) and well as some other items like Atari 2600 cartridges. I used black "L" shaped brackets of different sizes depending on the depth of the item that I am displaying.

    Hey there! ShadowThief author here! Randomly stumbled on this video; brought me all the feels. Thanks for the retro love. Of course I was always ambitious about my “trilogy” of content, but technology moves fast. (And yes, my film and effects career moved fast too.) By the time I got back to programming for the Palm, we had much cooler devices and I eventually spent another year on another Palm game, right before the Palm platform itself went away. You can Google EDGE: Extreme Dungeon Game Experience and see what ShadowThief essentially evolved into. Not as 1-bit nostalgic, perhaps, but enough to win Game of the Year the last year Palm had such an award. (And a lot of fun to play, especially on the Tapwave Zodiac.) I’d also hoped for future adventures and a level editor there, but alas… Palms were quickly gone and the era of the iPhone began soon after. Anyway, great video. I did notice one strategy you didn’t employ. You can also press the down button at any time to “kneel.” When archers shoot at you, you can either jump or kneel and avoid some of the arrows hitting you. Not a big deal with proper potion management, but might avoid a trip or two to Hel. ;-) Thanks again for the trip down memory lane! Cheers! z

    This is Awesome! I LOVED this magazine and its games as a kid. Unfortunately, my parents did not have much money, and I went a whole year without any way to save my programs. If the electricity went out or the computer was accidentally turned off, EVERYTHING WAS LOST! The 10 year old version of me is still screaming in horror remembering this. Wait a sec, you're really a fan of Wizardry 4?? I remember when it came out the idea of playing the bad guy sounded intriguing. Since then I've amused myself by reading walkthroughs by people much more masochistic than myself. 😅 Funny that Roe R Adams III helped designed both Ultima 3, probably one of the most accessible classic CRPGs ever and Wizardry 4. Hats off to you tho, you're in a totally different league! By the way, did you ever get to any of the endings?

      Yes, I finished it! It was the "good" ending. It's been awhile, but I remember going into 2 pools to change my alignment. I'll admit, there were a few times where I called the long-distance hint line to get a clue. I enjoyed it a lot at the time, but I don't know if I'd have the patience (or time) to give it another go to see a different ending.

      Thanks for the info! I guess I’m not going crazy. Interesting that you had the conflict 6 minutes into the game. I hope that there is a fix for this eventually, but I’m guessing not a lot of people have the same setup as you and me.

    • @josephbseeley
      @josephbseeley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brizalti Hehehe, you can say that again! The conflict happens for me whenever Nox Archaist calls its Mockingboard routine, which is either on the intro screen or when you enter a town, so pretty quickly. However, it doesn't interfere with gameplay, so I am happy to just live with it. Here are more details from Ian Kim: "Thanks for your feedback and the error is based on ROM code of 5X ROM. I tested on my //c+ and no error happened on my //c+. $c400 area are located on the mouse routine and it doesn't interfere with user command input. You can test it on the original ROM chip on it. When I designed Mb4C, there were no ROM code extenders and the ROM software builder have to consider compatibility with other one. In that error, I guess that you may CTRL+reset the //c+. doesn't it make stop the error? If you have any questions, please let me know."

  • @josephbseeley
    @josephbseeley ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey there, fantastic video as always, saved me lots of time! I received Mockingboard 4C+ for Christmas and already had the 5X ROM Chip installed, finally got motivated to do this so I can play Nox Archaist, Lord of Storms DLC with Mockingboard support. As an aside, there is supposed to be a way to modify the 5X ROM so the accelerator is disabled by default. But for now, the Tab-Control trick is super handy to know. So I am writing this in particular to let you know I am seeing the same conflict when playing Nox. I am not manually enabling the Mockingboard. Rather, after the Mockingboard has been automatically detected and enabled by Nox, I am getting the rolling "C4F4-" conflict you show around 6 minutes in. So it's definitely not your IIC+, not sure if it's something special with the 5X ROM and the Mockingboard? I am going to email Ian about it and ask if he has any ideas. I'll reference your video and let you know. Thanks again, love your videos!!
