Thule Aion 40 Carry-on Travel Backpack Detailed Overview: It mostly does the job.

Here is an entirely too long and detailed video about the Thule Aion 40 carry-on travel backpack. I have been meaning to make a video about this backpack for awhile now and here it is finally. I have owned this backpack for about a year at the time of posting and have used it for a few trips. Overall, I like the feature set, low weight, backpack carry, aesthetics, size, and amount of pockets. However, it can be uncomfortable to carry for long periods or with heavy weight, and the main compartment is a bit small for a backpack that claims to be 40 liters.

You definitely have your own "style" in presentation, but it is good that you showed the Scree 32 loaded up with 30-lbs of weight and also how the daisy-chain attachments function. When making external attachments you always want to do it as neatly as possible, least you look like a "junk show" trekking down the trail. Myself, the dasiy-chain feature of the Scree-32 was important...I have a "Beaver Tail" attachment that I can hook onto the rear of the pack and secures my wading boots when I'm on fly fishing trips. I can then use my hiking boots for trekking in and out, and have my felt soled wading boots when on the stream.

  • @YTusercomment

I own this Scree 32-liter backpack, from Mystery Ranch, and can attest to just how great of a Daypack it is; and you're right, that it has the capacity to serve as a great overnight camp pack. I consider the MR Scree 32 about the finest daypack available. This was my second Mystery Ranch backpack...my first was the Bridger 65-liter...another fantastic backpack...the finest I've ever owned. It needs to be mentioned that this Scree-32 backpack, as shown, is only available in the 2023 and earlier packs. In 2024, Mystery Ranch changed the design of the SCREE, to the Scree 33. The Scree 33 pack is now designed more towards the Alpine climbing community...so it is no longer the versatile overall Daypack it once was.

@@thedanwatts9571 Thanks. It looks like a good design, particularly those extra straps for bulky things. I was keen on trying it but the shipping costs have put me off. I agree about the thinner fabric being an unlikely issue - my Timbuk2 wore through at the bottom corners (where it rests on the floor) after many years, the rest of the outer shows no wear.

On the water that you put in your piecrust, it has to be ice cold with ice cubes in it. That’s probably why your crust was baking weird and also it does make a difference with the roller. I started out just like you not having anything and then getting all these handy little gadgets, it makes the world a difference.

@@thedanwatts9571 Yes I agree with this. I ask because I have the exact same version as you; short non-insulated tensor pad from a few years ago. Pretty sure I have the same one. It does not say "insulated" on the stuff sack or the pad, and it's the same color as yours and has the same valve. But I've never been able to find any source on the R value for it, other than your video. Mine is, however, missing the tag, inside the stuff sack, which maybe would have information. Do you have a tag/manual/link that says this anywhere? Thanks so much!

Depends on the airline. It might be too long for some. The width and depth are fine, but it is quite tall and you can't reduce the height because of the frame system. Plus it has a lot of straps that airlines don't like.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie recipe! I'm getting ready to attempt my first try at making one soon! I have so many different recipes, it's hard to choose which one to try first! My only suggestion is that I would not recommend using a graham cracker crust for baking a pie in the oven for an hour - as with this sugar cream pie recipe. My understanding is that graham cracker crusts are typically used for chilled pies or cheesecakes. Using a regular pastry crust (made with butter, flour, salt & water) is probably better for this recipe. Good job on the video!
