Laser vs Debit Card
It's important to always securely destroy your old debit and credit cards. If you've misplaced your scissors, just use your 10W diode laser instead.

    Hello, thank you for making this video and explaining how all this works. I have a tip for everyone that will make using a program with parameters like this MUCH nicer. When you want to change a parameter, place the cursor just to the right of the digit of the number that you want to change. Now press and hold the ALT key, and then press the Up and Down arrow keys. The digit to the left of the cursor will increment or decrement, and the Render display will update immediately. You are also able to hold ALT and then use your scroll-wheel to change digits, though you may need to enable this in the Preferences/Editor settings first. Numbers will go negative or positive in the way that you would expect, and pressing ALT-Right or ALT-Left will move the cursor to a different digit, and even add zeros on the right if needed. I LOVE OpenSCAD!

      Some of it (like the metal plate holding the ribbon to the cyclotron) were just scrap things I had laying around, but I'll add as many of the parts as I can track down and the Arduino sketch to the Hackaday.io page.

    How'd ya get that "dusty" look?

    • @TomNardi
      @TomNardi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was a trick I picked up some video years ago (probably about building full-size proton packs) -- basically just throw some sawdust on it and shake off the excess. So essentially its real dust, you're just speeding up the process of getting it on there.

    Listen, either Toys "R" Us had a big good heart, and a magical place where kids could be kids, even with their good Moms and Dads, and their grandparents too. As we still live in United States, if you wanna see Toys"R"Us again, maybe you should come travel and visit to Canada. It still safe for now, and it's got 82 locations. Not in United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. Even it's still got a worldwide of locations too, like France, Asia, Hong Kong, South Africa, Germany, China, Japan, and more of international locations. This could be your chance if you want to shop at Toys"R"Us. It's your choice. So long.

    Wow, thats a great first print. I keep trying with my printer, but my Y axis keeps going off, and my extruder scrapes along the already printed plastic. Any tips on how to fix this problem. Could you possibly post a video to help me? It would be very much appreciated.

    • @TomNardi
      @TomNardi 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case I was pretty lucky in that everything seemed to be fairly well aligned right from the start. The only advice I could really give is to make sure the lines are tight on the X and Y axis. The string should be taught enough that you can pluck it almost like a guitar.

  • @ShahabSheikhzadeh
    @ShahabSheikhzadeh 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    How difficult was the printer build process? Is 4 hours the average time it took for people to put their printers together? You said in another comment the print failed halfway through - what did you try printing? What failed? I'm guessing the extruder or hot end as that's the biggest failure on these printers.

    • @TomNardi
      @TomNardi 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not actually sure what the average build time is, but I certainly expected longer. I figured it would take some time to interpret the instructions (note I didn't say follow the instructions...they aren't quite like that) and get it all dialed in. The issues I had after the initial print was that the Y axis motor was overheating due to the stock power settings being too high, and then a communication issue that a firmware reflash fixed. The whole thing is a bit fiddly, but that's to be expected.
