You can use a one-way clutch on the axle and attach the gear to it. That way, you bypass the wheel problem.

Often thought about motorizing the trike I inherited from my mother, which is now in my storage. Mom peddled that trike to the grocery store until she was well into her 80's.

I am surprised that more people are not watching these videos. This is the kind of thing that i did when I was a kid. What is the matter don't kids do this anymore. Every kid on the block should be there. You make me want to do this again. I'm sixty five and could use some fun for a change. Thanks for the inspiration.

I picked a a Miami Sun brand new for #200. Big guy lived on a big hill bought it, not knowing how hard trikes are to peddle. I peddle it for 6 years, then I put a Ebikling 1200 watt, 52 volt, 20 amp hour battery kit on it, because I am old. I have no idea how fast it can go, because 15 mph is scary. I've been to 20 mph running my dogs. I've had it electric 2 1/2 years and it still get 40 miles Plus on a full charge. And it is quiet. Can't even hear it. I can ride it farther than my old body will let me sit on it. Great granddaughter's pup and I can do twenty miles together. He can run! Wouldn't have an electric car, but I love that trike!

The way you Fabbed up that front end & steering control was great.Really nice to see someone playin' with motors on bikes that can WELD for a change...👌 Im thinkin abou a little 2 stroke for my beach cruiser with a gigantic exhaust to quiet it & not lose much power gonna be interesting to see how much i can wring out & still be quiet...✌️

I wonder if you could add a band brake to the clutch...that would take some of the load off of the front wheel?

I would've just bought a front wheel with a hub motor and controller kit. It's hard to believe that anyone would want to put up with that noisy, stinky gas engine these days.

A fat tire set up would be nice it would b probably ride smoother at a moderate psi in the tires

Sorry,i dislike this project.i tell you why? -The rear wheels are not two wheel drive,and no differential gears. -This type of engine(if two strokes)makes loud and ugly sound. -This trike will put me in trouble with road police,because it is motorized illegally.

What did you end up gapping the spark plug at?

You could ditch the back brake (or use a coaster brake) and use one brake lever for each front wheel...then you could modulate braking to pull you around corners. That's how my recumbent is set up.

This is on my to-do list. Will have to be electric to be legal around here, mind you.

If you refined this a little more, & added a ebike motor, battery & controller this thing would be a Lil Ripper!!! I'm 49yo & am as stubborn as they come, & I even seen the light, & IT'S ELECTRIC!! 😆 My Rwarr Mantis will go 55mph, & get there in about 5 seconds, not bad for a sub $5k electric dirt bike. Edit: The motor/ battery would help with the center of gravity, & adjust the camber on the front wheels, it'll really help with turns

You have zero ackerman angle and therefore parallel steering which is bad, the steering arms are parallel with the wheels and they need to be angled inward at an angle to the wheels and the steering wont fight itself while cornering, not your only problem but definitely a big one

Cool idea brother don't knock it let's refine it I think your on to something maybe reposition the engine or different engine maybe 2 stroke just little ideas and 3 wheelers takes a minute to get used to anyway you think bicycle in a turn but you can't lean you actually have to turn a 3 wheeler great video I subscribed to your channel

Cool trike, Bro Why not put the engine low in the front and drop the seat like a recumbent bike to further lower the weight. should be more balanced and less tippy. You have more weight up high than you have down low, like a top-heavy helicopter it needs a computer to make it feel stable enough to be able to fly. Questions: I have no clue if you’ve heard of Viribus or converted a Viribus trike , but I took off the crank and there’s a pipe sticking out maybe a 1 1/2 on each side.Do you know how to remove it? hammering it did nothing ,with my last trike it came out no problem

I have a general question , can I keep the gears on a trike and use them with a predator 212 cc engine on it ?

Excellent job, unfortunately on all your videos is very dart and imposible to see details and configuración of the work, a good set of lights on your shop can made huge difference.
