Winter Birds Enjoying Mealworms
One of my hobbies is raising Mealworms to feed to the wild birds that visit Penwood to find the healthy 'fast food' that helps keep them strong and warm through the winter. On a whim, this morning, I set an old iPhone out on the ledge near a dish of mealworms. If you're bored, or intrigued enough to watch, it's kinda peaceful. For extra points - see if you can see who takes the one and only pupae I put in the dish, and who gets the last worm 🧐

Penwood White Oaks, Dead and Down

35 White Oak trees weakened to the point of death this year at Penwood due mostly to infestation of the lowly gypsy moth caterpillars. Sure hated to loose these majestic trees. Many will remember and enjoy this video, especially if you visited the OC & T during the many years Ken Sterling played the Honky Tonk piano before the train left the station on weekends. I'm sorry my camera equipment back then was quite primitive by todays standards but it's still worth posting. Ken was a great guy and added much to the atmosphere of the Perry Street Station.

A friend of mine really enjoys his camp near my home in the woods of Pennsylvania. It's tough to find the time when you work, but retirement is only about five months out! It's always CALLING ME (him). Special shout out to a couple of my favorite content creators - Peter McKinnon, Epidemic Sound and Nancy Hunt for the bear photos - you guys inspire me.

Rick Richards removes an old white pine, that was badly rotted at the base and leaning toward a log cabin, from the top down. Skilled climbing and cutting saved the cabin from certain damage had the tree come down in high winds.

I had a 1972 that had the same child bed so I'd say yours is original. A man just gave me one of these 1967 campers. I have to drive 800 miles to get it. A couple questions: I have a brand new set of 14" radial trailer tires, wheels, hubs and bearings. Do you think they will fit? What is the interior height? I'm 5'10". Thanks!
You will enjoy the gift. They are fun little trailers. I can not answer your question about the tires and height. I think the interior height is 6 foot. I am 6'1" and can not quite stand up. There are some great forums online to answer technical questions. Mine is packed away for the winter and I can not get into it at the moment.

I still have it and am taking good care of it. I think they are supposed to weigh about 980 lb dry weight but I have never weighed it.

Sure. I went out to measure. It's about 69.5 - 70 inches maximum inside height.

Hello, I'm currently redoing my 1968 Gacho, so this was a big help, but can you please tell me what number this is? I see lots of people say "1968 Gacho '15" or "13" so it is so hard to tell, thanks
I have always thought of it as a Gaucho 13. 15 if you count the tongue length. Thanks for your comment and good luck restoring your own. They are so fun and handy to have.

When I was in high school I actually lived in a camper like this with my grandmother. We were in the backyard of my aunts house. For bathing, electric etc. But some times I wish I could go back to that. She's not here anymore more but, lots of memories.

Hi Michelle, thanks for your kind words. The electrical adapter was in the trailer when I got it. I have never seen another one and wish I knew where to direct you to find one for yourself. I have a '68 Highlander also and converted it to a standard plug so it will adapt right to an extension cord. If I ever find another I will let you know. Bob

Very nice video Bob, I have a 1984 that is in similar condition. My uncle sold me his because he is 6'4" and cant get around like he used to. Says he needs more space but it's a gem for sure. P.S I keep her in the polebarn like a debutante!⚘
Yes the child's hammock is a original my parents had a brand new camper like that when I was a small child and I remember sleeping in the hammock when I was about three it is all original it was meant to be that way ours look just like yours and ours had red seats and red hammock and all red interior there paint job on ours brand new was a blue color on the inside with little black specs for decoration I guess thank you for sharing this camper with us I enjoyed looking at my past

Of the many trips we've taken together, I can't remember one that we didn't have a good a time with lots of laughs while entertaining the passengers. We sure kept them informed of the local history and received many compliments for trying to make their trip more interesting. Now that I'm no longer volunteering, due to health reasons, don't forget to tell the riders about the four men and their unsuccessful attempt to hand dig a well at Petroleum Center..LOL. Oh, by the way, you are the epitome of dedication to volunteerism, congratulations friend. Don
