In 2005 I was 14, my parents got me a knockoff fender starcaster and this amp. I didn’t know what gain was at the time, so I always played it clean. I assumed I needed a pedal for rock tones. Until my friend came over and dimed the gain one day. It was as if he pulled Excalibur from the stone. Once I understood what gain was, I never played the amp clean again 😂

It doesn't have the richest sound, but it does the job..

It is ash wood. One of the most beautifully grained wiids ysed for guitars! Early and now more expensive Fenders use it! 2023 Grammy winner Cedric Burnside uses this EXACT guitar on his strat type songs. Stock pickups, natural ash finish and all!

i have this guitar and loving it. highly recommend to anyone. i did upgrade the pickups to EMGs for Drop C tuning as the ones they came with were slightly muddy, but everything else is so nice. It's light weight, neck is very comfortable, gutiar itself is quite comfortable. i can't find much to fault it on, and this is comparing against other Japanese/Korean guitars I have

I have one of these budget guitars in sunburst which looks great when hung up on the wall and plays so easily with a very smooth finish to the guitar neck which really helps when bending the notes. I recently bought an identical Fender Squire and I prefer to play the Academy as it just feels easier to play as the neck is so smooth on both sides, sound good too.

I have a JT Strat and I love it. Quality build and it sounds great. Thanks for sharing and nice playing. Happy New Year 2024.

I traded a used discontinued Squier Mustang bass for this guitar. I don't regret it one bit, other for the fact that it's in a jet black finish. I might really just re-paint it and change the pickups down the line. It's surprisingly comfy and I feel like picking it up everyday recently. Also, it's ridiculously light. If you can try one of those for free and you like it go for it!

I Have this same amp. I play Death Metal and Black Metal. I don't know if it's the tone or something but my playing sounds muddy sometimes and sometimes it sounds decent. Should I try a different amp for my musical style?

I got a Barracuda SG its had the usual issues but it is a great blues machine, loves dimarzio or S.D. pickups.

Wife bought me a Nova strat many years ago when I mentioned I'd like to get back into playing.... so much buzzing from the shoddy fretwork. The weak springs on the trem wouldn't allow for standard E tuning, as it would start to float like a FR (claw was tightened as far as it would go). I still have it. Levelled and dressed the frets and everything else has been upgraded with Fender, CTS and Seymour Duncan components. It's set up as an HSS with the 5 way auto-split mod and actually sounds and plays pretty half decent.

I saw one of these recently and was surprised at how thin it is. You could literally fit this into a backpack, and that kind of portability would be great for traveling to low-key practices or a bedroom amp where space is at a premium.

my first guitar i ever owned... man i loved this thing i hauled it back n forwarth to school for band practice for 2 years and to guitar lessons, then it sat in my closet for over 10 years... then i was like you know what i owe this guitar alot. so i put in a fully loaded HSS pickguard lemon oil the fretboard,polished frets, sanded off that god awful academy logo, fresh ernie ball strings n walla it has a new life.. im so happy i hung on to it all these years, because really that guitar started it all, and it is apart of my collection with my kramer n les pauls

Just out of pure curiosity.....what is the fretboard radius on that guitar? Also.....I dig your playing. You got that guitar and amp dialed in, quite nicely, for your playing style.
