Also pertaining to the point of why BMW didn't build it, all evidence suggests they did make one or two in Germany but shelved it as it would have outshone the M3. Also this build has been done a fair few times now and are popping up in YT but due to the cost involved it is obviously a limiting factor for many. The engine alone runs between £4-8k plus the m conversion and wiring/coding. IMO this HAS to be one of the ultimate BMWs and is on my list as a possible project.
Cutting up a 135i is sacrilege. Could have just bought a dead or cheaper version of the 1 series to convert.
How was the comfort with kw?
A little harder than stock but rides much better all round.👌🏼

Hi guys a great car, just a few points Is the car registered as a 135i, is the car taxed as a 135i or an M3 E92 which is nearly £700!. Did the car need an inspection by dvsa on completion
Need to use motul 800 racing oil full synthetic... my tzr250r never had a problem.

A standard Mr2 is ugly, but one with a kit on looks better than a s2000 in my opinion. Plus you don’t see many of either car on the road in the uk, both are good cars in there own right.
Mr2’s are fun cars for what they are, I’m lucky to own one and an S2000. But the S2000 wins every time, especially with a supercharger or a 4.77 fd. You wouldn’t want lots of torque in a light car as it’s uncontrollable like you described. The low torque and high hp is what makes the S2000’drive so well. Nothing drives like a fully track specked S2000

You did a beautiful job on the build. But ouch, that seizure really hurts. I left mine fairly stock, new std bore pistons, Lance rebuilt cranks, except for pipes and intake then associated jetting to get it running proper. Oh and fitting R6 body work. Oh and R6 suspension. Only ever been on the butt dyno. Lots of RZ stuff on my YT channel. In this first start up video th-cam.com/video/uzOyGdQiBn8/w-d-xo.html I ran premix in the fuel tank and hooked up clear lines to the oil pump to ensure it was pumping the life blood Yamalube.

I've got a 1995 850 T5 manual wagon, 3 previous owners and a genuine 89K miles on it, For best results do a PCV check/Overhaul followed by a stage 0 tune, Ie iridium plugs, Rotor arm, Genuine Borgicord leads and dist cap etc, I sourced a very early T5 RIP kit (1993) which helps out turbo spool, Volvo updated these due to throttle bodys freezing in harsh winters and the upgrade was crap! Then replace all vacuum hoses with silicon, Replace the 15G turbo with a 16T, Replace the orange injectors with whites and replace the M4.3 ECU with a remapped M4.4 which will make it start quicker and be better on MPG because of it's more refined fuel mapping, Mine puts out about 285BHP, 400NM torques and would leave a stock 850R for dead! I bought an accident damaged 1998 S70 T5 for the donor bits and the ECU for £170, Remap cost me £60 from a well known tuner on the Volvo forums, It goes like stink when you boot it (50-70MPH torque is mental) and will average 32MPG if you drive it like a granny!👌

@@aylahughes9185 The 4.3 ECU had a remap by Hamish Lindsey (HLM 304) Which is apparently a RICA 304 rip off! It's quite an aggressive map especially with a 15G, The 16T reduced the torque steer quite a bit! And the 4.4 which is currently fitted was flashed by Oblark on the Volvo forum, Better starting and fuel consumption 👌

You know back in the early days of two strokes they would purposely run them till they seized strip ease the high spots and go again, before the days of CNC and machining pistons ovate.
Oh sweet!!! Many a memory of those days of real racing and owning 2 strokes.....i dreamed of doing this, great to see someone pulled it off.
the rz was known for seizing that piston
a lot of people sieze up 2 stokes on dynos. because they chop the gas instead of feeding gas slowly to a stop

I find it better just to change the oil feed lines for clear ones.
cant beat a bit of premix until you know everything is as it should be. engine probably built by a pro then taken home and restorer put it in bike and bolted carbs on and sat in their front room for a few years until wifey says that £30k could be better spent . nice bike though looks remarkably like a bike i saw a few years back
Enjoyed the content a lot. The MR2 is incredibly underrated in terms of what it offers for the money. I think a Miata could give an MR2 a run, maybe. Is your V6 the 2GR-FE motor? Did you consider something like a K24 but want more torque? A little curious on the reasoning behind such a cool engine swap. Boy it's fast, good choice.
Yes it’s the 2GR motor, I wanted torque and as reliable as possible, k engines don’t offer torque, in my eyes torque makes you quick if used correctly. There also is not much difference in weight as the k’s are all iron block, 2GR is all aluminium 👍🏼

I bought my Mr2 Spyder '03 with 58k for 2k. Doubt I'd get one for that now. There seems to be more chatter on youtube about them so probably won't be long before they start to increase in value.
The 2zz is a dud. 2AR is where its at now. Cheaper motors too

@@povilaslondon paid $3k for my ‘05 K24 swap/hardtop, so I’d say a lot cheaper than what you can find now. The way mine is spec’d, it would easily cost about $25k to reproduce here in the states. I don’t think the prices will stay low for much longer either, its too good of a chassis.

Wow that last frame amazed me. 2zz MR2 had a higher trap speed than the S2K. The little MR2 is a such a ripper with the engine in the right spot and low weight.
Yeah it surprised me too, the s2000 is quite a heavy car, but if it was modified it would be much faster.
@@terminalvelocity5995 Price though vs power, the 2ZZ would always win. I bought a tidy MR2 (with high mileage) for £1k. Had a 55k 2ZZ with Lotus flywheel, 6th gear etc. fitted for just over £3k. You couldn't even buy a rotten, standard PFL Cat C S2000 for that.
@@stuartcrann yes that’s true Iv also had a 2zz spyder, and yes it is the perfect engine for the car, however it still is a bit slow in my opinion. Price wise though yes is very cheep to convert the car to a 2zz wins every time in that aspect.👍🏼
@@terminalvelocity5995 k20/k24 in the mr2 would be far better choice than the 2ZZ. Plenty of TH-cam videos of them on tracks, not a lot can keep up
Nice video, in many ways I regret going fully built 2GR turbo on my SW20 as its far too fast for the street. NA V6 is the way to go!

going round the Karussell, seems best to keep all 4 wheels on the Concrete . do not put 2 left wheels on the tarmac and 2 on the concrete, tricky to do. I am very jealous, stuck in Montana, not a weekend trip for me.
