Making Signs with My 60w Laser Engraver
First client project on the laser! These two signs came out really great and my clients loved them. This project is a huge boost on my confidence on the laser engraver and I can't wait for future projects with it!

Can it engrave rotary objects?
turned out great ! , to save on material, I'd cut 1 normally and nest the design in the duplicates and use the 1st as templet
Oh wow that’s a great idea. That would’ve save me a couple sheets of MDF! I will definitely use this method next time I do repeated cuts!
I bought the identical machine but 100W. It cut 1/2" MDF right out of the crate and impressed the heck out of me. The Ruida had no problem working with my MAC. Regarding support, I did have an initial problem and they were quick to ship replacement parts. I have since upgraded to a larger 100/80. I would def recommend a China Laser. You might have to make some minor structural modifications as the cabinetry is light gauge, but you save a lot of money over domestic machines. The lower cost allows you to enter the market. You can always upgrade or keep an eye out for a used domestic machine.
Yes absolutely! How did you get Ruida to work with your Mac? I really can’t figure out. The supplier just told me to get windows so I had to bootcamp my mac
I would be interested in buying a 300w machine, since nobody sells them here in US. Would you mind sharing the name of your manufacturer in China? Thank you.
I believe they can mount the 300w laser on a 1310 machine. Here is their email: sales8@wuxisunwaytech.com. Ask for Samantha. I hope you can find what you’re looking for!
The only recommendation I have is to rotate your air pump to the bottom so the tubing doesn't kink and block the flow at the connection. I'm waiting on my 60w from Monport that should be here Monday.
Good idea, thanks for pointing that out! Hopefully your machine will have a smooth setup!
@@themissionwoodshop I'm started with a 10 watt diode laser. Then I got a K40 from Monport and now I'm up grading to their 60 watt laser with auto focus, air assist and a 28x20 inch bed. I ordered it on June 16, 2024. I got the laser, the rotary and lightburn with free shipping for $2300.00. Good luck with your projects.
Wow that is a steal! What size laser ena power did you get. I currently have a smal oldl K40 that needs a new tube@@privatebubba8876
What is vector grid files/vials? Used for?
It’s used for testing different speed/power combo on different materials to have a reference for later use. For this tumbler, lower speed generally result in a darker burn which isn’t what I want on a tumbler, and higher speed might result in blurry lines. So this is a way for me to find the optimal range of settings on this specific material. I do this for every type of material I use.

Great shop, great video - it had me debating on the subscription, then I realised the background music was unravel, and I was sold. 😂 Some killer ideas in your setup that I will definitely be stealing!
Thank you so much!
EAR PROTECTION or you will be saying, HUH? A lot in your future
Absolutely. My AirPods actually work pretty well in noise reduction mode
Awesome thanks for sharing
Thank you so much!
Looks like you have a very functional wood shop.
Thank you! Still a work in progress, but slowly making sense now.
Hi Jackon. I enjoyed the relaxed pace of your tour. Nice video and I must do one myself. Have subscribed. Regards James One Handed Maker- Australia
Love your table!! Im planning on a coffee table this spring and need all the help icanget😂.
Thank you so much! Is there any topic that you'd be interested in? Maybe I can make a video about it.
Hi That was a great table build and I loved the video. Just found your channel and worthy of a subscription. I will check out more of your videos and I look forward to the next one. Regards James One Handed Maker - Australia
Thank you so much! I I really love the projects you're doing too! All the best wishes for you!
Good method for ensuring that the saw table is on plane with the outfeed area. No irritating musical overlay either. Well done.
Thank you very much!

This is clean and neat..but what is it good for?
Thanks! The c channels help keep the table flat and provide some strength against wrapping across the grain. Large single slab like this tends to warp over time, and c channels help combating that. It’s a very similar function to the aprons in traditional tables.
I don't do this myself but I'm pretty sure it's to add more rigidity and less wood/epoxy warping
@@adrianvillareviayou’re correct!
Poor choice, if I'm being honest. Poly can't be cut on, and it's generally an environmental hazard. You're obviously in too deep now, but shellac (natural) coating would be a better choice. The fact you didn't wear breathing protection is also concerning.
I am using cutting boards on top of this countertop for cutting, and yes poly isn’t for cutting. As far as breathing protection goes, I’m in a pretty open area with my garage door open, but really I’m just lazy when I’m filming this coat…thanks for your comment!
@@themissionwoodshop You're sweet as heck. I love you, too. Hope you take better care of yourself. I noticed the garage door was open. ;)
@@christopherkarr1872 I should get some mask if I’m going to be spraying regularly, thank you so much for pointing that out!
Youre going to get through router bits quickly like that. Cut it close with a jig or skillsaw and then trim the edge eith the router and template.
100%
You’re absolutely right! I rarely make cuts like this so I’m comfortable doing something like this maybe once in a year. But yes, this is pretty hard on the router bit.
You didn't mention...what didn't you like about your old miter saw station?
It had only about 24" on each side of the wings, with no tape measures or stop block. Also it was built with rough 2x4 lumber so I couldn't put any drawer or storage in it, kind of a waste of space. The center well for the miter saw is too wide and all those width are unnecessary. I wanted to build a new miter saw station to put some of the new skills I learned to the test and get some of much needed storage in my shop.
@@themissionwoodshop Thanks for the reply. I hope you are enjoying your new station!
@@timthayer9365 Yes I am! My tools are much more organized now.
It’s a good shop and it will grow and change as you work in it. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much! Hopefully it will keep growing as my skill grows
It won’t be long before AI designs, CNC cuts the parts, and a robot assembles the project. I guess we don’t need woodworkers any longer.
Mass produced furnitures are already designed with templates, cut on CNCs and put together on an assembly line. One can argue that we don’t need woodworkers right now :p
P r o m o s m 😝
Great shop! For the jointer, I restored a couple of delta. From my experience: There is a set screw on the side. Loosen that and take out the guard. Now inside the guard assembly usually there's a spring that has to catch on a stop on top and another stop on opposite side at the bottom. The opposite force is what spring the guard back. It might just be the spring is not seated properly on the stop. If it is, then that's all you need to fix. Otherwise, just get a new spring from ridgid. It shouldn't be that expensive. You probably pay more in shipping than the actual spring lol
Thank you so much! Sounds like an easy fix, I will definitely try that this week.
Did you use primer to paint black over the white?
I did not use a primer. I think the paint I used doesn't need a primer coat.
What paint did you use?
I believe I got the paint from home depot - it's their middle tier paint that's sractch resistant, and I picked a black color to let them mix for me.

Nice shop!
Thank you so much! Always a work in progress haha
Thank you for this, It just goes to show, there is no need for all the chatting etc. We can see exactly whats going on, and is easy to follow, you have given me a few ideas. Thanks
Thank you so much! I've since switched to another table saw and workbench combo, but this one served me extremely well for almost 3 years. Check out some of the other videos on my channel if you want to see other builds!
Great shop video, got some good ideas from you. As far as the jointer cutterhead guard, with my delta at least, to put more tension on it, you have to take out the set screw where the guard connects to the bed and spin the post till it has more tension and then put the set screw back in.
Thank you so much! Let me try that, it has been driving me crazy every time I use the jointer...
Thanks for sharing. Hope to have a similar sized workshop built within the next month. Waiting on building permits.
Good luck on your permits! How big will your shop be?
Bangood - Cheap Chinese Guy, LOL
Banggood actually has some pretty good products! And I am indeed Chinese and the other thing :P
I could wax poetic, but there's no doubt that someone with the mental fortitude to make this knows how well they've done creating it. Bravo.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Seeing the piece come out like that in the end was worth all the effort!
@@themissionwoodshop I'm certain I'm in no position to buy it, but how much would you charge for an item like this? Ballpark of 2.5k? Additionally, not sure if you take requests or suggestions, but if you have the interest, I would love to suggest some art deco inspired pieces.
@@THESLlCK You are correct. If I were to sell this piece I would price it around 2.6 to 3k. And yes, I would love to know some of your suggestions! Working with AI has made me realized that I can find inspiration from many different places and at this point I'm just excited to be surprised!
