The Centre for the Study of Race, Gender & Class (RGC) is an interdisciplinary, transnational hub for multimodal scholarship driven by Black/African/postcolonial feminist, queer and decolonial agendas of emancipation. Based within the Humanities Faculty of the University of Johannesburg (UJ), the centre offers a home in the Southern Hemisphere for engaged scholarship around intellectual, creative, spiritual and everyday practices that both refuse and reimagine worlds shaped by the violent logics of white supremacy/coloniality, heteropatriarchy and global capitalism. GBSS '23 / "Relational Repair - Black life beyond injury", with Jovan Scott Lewis
In this Global Blackness Summer School session, Jovan Scott Lewis and RGC Director Victoria Collis-Buthelezi reflect on relational repair and the political possibility of Black life beyond injury (29 November 2023, LAPA, Johannesburg).
"In our political present, shaped by the insurgent recognition of the consequences of antiblackness following the murder of George Floyd, but whose influence is quickly expiring, Jovan Scott Lewis examines the possibilities for Black reparations. Thinking from what he identifies as our reparative conjuncture, Jovan's new research addresses the societal and ethical limitations of what kind of reparations this moment can produce. Recognizing that the harms against Black people are generally harms to their relations, he suggests a relational framework of reparation. In doing so, Jovan encourages resisting Blackness’ principal formulation through (studying) antiblack violence and its related practices of resistance and offers a formula for repair beyond the terms of Black injury."

Thanks for inviting me. It's always good to listen to Miss Pierre,her story on cholera is very true white take there disrespect for people of colour everywhere it's called globalisation. Another name for it is globe supremacya.ka.a white supremacy,we are prisoners of war on this planet and non white people,Brazil that country that country,Kenya is a imperial subject who as the behaviour of whites ,there government are leading their people into imperialism,thanks again for sharing this video with me.
