    It appears to me that they do it not solely for the ill gotten gain, but the excitement. The guy that you mention who was stealing cars, he wasn't just stealing cars, he was getting high on stealing cars. It becomes like a drug for them. Sometimes they do it to the wrong person, a drug dealer or a gangster and they end up with lots of broken bones. I've seen videos of the London police, they simply ram them right off the road. In Glasgow where I live its not so bad, but in Edinburgh, its an epidemic. One young Polish girl drove her bike right across Europe with no issues, only for it to be stolen from beneath her window in broad daylight. It was harrowing, she could do nothing to prevent it, they simply rolled up on another bike and pushed hers away, mockingly. Karma will get them for sure.

    I've owned two ZZR 1100 models, great bikes done a lot of miles on both. I now own ZZR600. Again a great bike and done a lot of miles on it. As to why I went smaller capacity? I can't say....but the 600 is a great bike. Mine has 178000kms on it, it's never let me down. Nor did it's bigger brother. My last ZZR1100 had 15000kms on it when I sold it, never an issue with Kawasaki motors. The ZZR600 is a beautiful lil bike, plenty of power. I don't race it nor have I flogged it, but it does love a good "revving" and it's never given me an issue, it will out race any car off the lights and it will keep up with most modern mid range bikes. I consider myself to be an average rider. I have a few spills, due to my own ability. But this bike is hands down the best I've owned, yes it's not an 1100, but it's plenty quick and so very versatile.

    It was an utterly compelling review headrace, seriously bro, watched every minute. As why you love your Blade and not the AT, wow, what to say? Riders say that modern bikes are perhaps a little clinical? They lack soul perhaps? My friend just bought an imported KZ650 from the early seventies, it just has a lots of soul is the best way to describe it, makes the modern Kawas look like robots and rightly so. e.g--After yrs of ill-health-unemployment and bikelessness, I picked up a 93 Blade, 14,000 miles and the (2nd,.) owner 'apologized' about the scratch under the belly-pan and the after-market 'can' though the original came free! Guess!!---£1,350. I'm 5'6" and 10st,. and this bike was so comfortable to and from London (from Manchester), and equally suited to ride all day over and around the Pennines. With plenty to spare from2,000 to 11,000 revs, why would I, or anybody in the know spend £10,000 on a new and expensive to insure, parts, scratch worry etc,. when you can have all this along with fully comp 'Classic Bike' insurance for £150. I had to sell the blade because of money and storage problems, but have had a VF1000R, CBR1000F, GSXR 750 (Slingshot')----All were dirt cheap, fast as you can, and great fun (inc,. SC16 VF). Look at all the bike reviews of these 90's bikes. All the owners/reviewers struggle, but eventually admit that these bikes are so much better and more fun than new bikes. I've got the bike itch again,--what next?? Can't afford a blade but a ZX9R, or Gixer 750 SRAD??? Maybe go fuel injection with a ZX 636??? So long as it looks and rides well??? Right,---I now need £1500 from the bank--Wish me luck and thanks for bike knowledge HR---stay safe--wear a condom!

    In cars there's a similar trend. Traditional sports cars are no longer produced. It's all high power SUVs and crossovers now. In bikes there's also a sharp distinction between traditional hard core analogue bikes, such as the GSX-R750 offering raw riders experience, and modern digital bikes with all kinds of rider's aids, such as the Panigale V4S. Contrary to sports cars and despite modern rider's aids, the performance of a sports bike is mainly dependent on rider skills. Of course, one bike can be better than the other. Modern designs are not always progress. Tests with riders switching bikes on the same track have shown a 15 year old GSX-R750 to be consistently faster than a modern day Panigale V4S. 😎

      @@peterdejong5456 fantastic comment, really appreciated. Completely agree with the skillset aspect. I’ve a fair bit of track experience and seen such things well illustrated. One example particularity stands out at Brands Hatch a few years ago, a guy with some considerable skills on an XJ900 (of all things…) was dominating the fast group, which had the usual selection of Sportsbikes in, but the riders couldn’t use it. XJ900 rider had a few well chosen mods, good tyres, set up well meant he could really maximise it. Bikes have moved on so much, that they’ve effectively eclipsed the riders now.

    • @peterdejong5456
      @peterdejong5456 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@headrace4863 Absolutely! Very few riders would be able to use the massive amount of power modern leader bikes have, and which can never be safely used on the streets as you rightly pointed out. That's why these rider aids are absolutely necessary to limit accidents. However, talented and experienced riders are often hampered by these aids. They would like to have a more direct link to their machine to get the most out of it. Unfortunately for them very few designs allow the aids to be completely disabled. Also environmental restrictions on modern bikes hamper engine performance and ride experience. That's why the traditional hard core analogue sports bike is becoming increasingly popular among enthousiasts. Better pick a low milage one up before they have all gone or have become too expensive.

    The guys with money want comfort, right? They just want to cruise the lanes where they live or go to Europe on tour, a sports bike is not optimal for that kind of thing. Young guys cannot afford the top end sports bikes so they ride all the older six hundreds, YZF600R, ZZR's etc I am slightly older than you, when i was 15 I had a Honda 250 Superdream, was great, the GPZ was a sports bike, the Yamaha RD350 etc but very few people had them, instead we had Yamaha DT250's and Honda XL's , the grand daddies of the Tracer 9 and Transalp :) I think you are correct in your analysis, it will be an enthusiasts thing.

    After 4 months I wonder what you ended up with. Have you considered the V Strom 1000 or even the 1050DE? I'm looking for a new bike and have shortlisted the Crosstourer and the Vstrom. They are both in a similar price range. I test rode the 1050DE and it's a fantastic bike. I can't seem to get my hands on a Crosstourer for a test ride at the moment. I think I would love the V4 and I'm keen on a shaft drive as well.

      Yep, I completely get that. I think it’s the closest anyone got to challenging the CBR600 for all round-ness, and I’d argue the engine in ZZR is better than the CBR motor as well. It had a rightfully long life and there’s loads about. Thankfully… 👍👍

    Hi there! I have my 2005 ZZR 600 registered and did about 500 km on it. I have a question about engine temperature: indicator always just stays at beginning of normal range, except maybe in town. But I haven't got it up to the middle of the gauge. Is that normal or should I check the thermostat? Cheers, Stefan

    • @headrace4863
      @headrace4863 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Quite normal for most Kawasaki, they’re over cooled in road trim. You’ll find the fan kicks in about 1/3 the way up the gauge. When they’re raced they don’t run a cooling fan or thermostats so can get a bit warmer. They’ll boil over around 2/3 up the guage unless you run waterless coolant.

Right now I want to put on some miles to get some flow through those carbs and to check consumption. Then I'll revise it all again I think. Trying to find proper repair kit though, I think the first kit wasn't correct.

    • @headrace4863
      @headrace4863 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ooooh good question. Not quite that simple unfortunately. In the context of road based touring, the chassis of the vfr and definately the engine were “better” for me. Off road, I have no idea as that’s not something I’d normally do. I’m sure the ATAS would be in a different league to the vfr, however. The equipment levels and engine management are vastly superior on the ATAS, for sure. I like it for different reasons to the vfr, I wouldn’t say I think it’s better… sorry that’s probably not much help at all as it. Apologies.
