What the life expectancy on it? If you use it a lot
Hmmm that’s a hard one to answer, I think Singer would be able to provide much better advice on this! I can imagine it would depends on how well it’s maintained (cleaning lint out, oiling etc), how often it gets serviced, how many hours per week it’s used!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! 🤗
People amaze me with their level of talent, skill and creativity ❤ my goodness, how does someone accomplish something like this. What a beautiful choice of flowers and colors. I am so inspired💐
Thank you so much, I am glad you felt inspired! That makes me feel so happy 😊🤗 I’m glad you like the final outcome!
I'm not even in the market for an overlocker... Just enjoying the binge-session. PS: has anyone told you that you have a lovely way of speaking, it's pleasant to listen to and you get straight to the point so I'm not confused. Anyway, can't wait for whatever you put up next.🤗
Thank you! That’s so nice to say, I always worry that I ramble 😂😂
I have this idea of what I want my wardrobe to consist of and buying everything I want is both very inconvenient and unsustainable for me right now. Watching videos like yours was what inspired me to create what I want to see and it has been one of the most fulfilling things I've done, it's just a different feeling know the work and care and pain you put into making a thing... Thanks for reminding me🙏🏽
I agree! It’s so unsustainable to constantly buy new clothing.. if we are putting effort into making our own where possible, we keep it for much longer!
Ahh man, this is just beautifully made. Elegant, polished, feminine - so beautiful. Thank you for all the effort that went into this whole video.🙏🏽
Thank you!! 🥰🥹
I'm having a visceral reaction to this dress...hold on while I recover. Thank you for existing.🙏🏽
Hehe you are so sweet!! 🫶🏼🤗
No words, just ❣️ (very loud love eminating from every pore).

I'm in love with everything about this video. My eyes would not move away from the screen for even a split second. Off to binge the rest of your videos, thank you for existing.😍🙏🏽
You are so kind 🥹🫶🏼 thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy 😘
We've been waiting a long time for this latest video! So cool!
Aww thank you! I might do the next few videos without sewing patterns so that I don’t take so long 😂
Hi Jess, what is the fabric?
Hello! It’s the Marlo linen from Next State Print 🥰
@@behindtheseamswithjess thank you 👍🏻
How was is it this is my first time seeing you?❤?
Aww 🥹 welcome! I hope you enjoy my content 🤗
You’re designs are so beautiful x
Thank you! That’s so lovely 🤗
Jess! You literally are AMAZING! Unbelievable process and incredible dress! Wow! Talk about a one of a kind dress! Fabulous!!!👏👏👏
Oh wow, thank you so much!! I was doubting it at first but I really am happy with it in the end 🥰 I will keep it forever!!
Btw I too get burned out with sewing and honestly it’s your body needing time to reset and that’s usually when you get your next project ideas so it’s a good and bad thing :)
I agree! I used to feel so bad when I lost my sewing motivation, but the best thing you can do is pack it all away and wait until the excitement builds again!
I hope to get this well with my finishes if not later Sooner!!! Cause omg!!! Ilove this
Awww thank you!!!! Each project gets a little better, a little neater, a little more precise!
Ooh! I think you may have started a new trend. I hope you’re ready for all the attention.😍👏😍
I would love to see this trend pick up!! Such a fun way to completely customise your projects 🤩
From the title, I thought you made the FABRIC. So I find the title misleading. What you did was design the fabric. I weave angora yarns that I make from my rabbits. That is making fabric.
I’m sorry for the confusion, I think most will understand I wasn’t aiming to be misleading!
how gorgeous is this dress wow you are so very talented tfs
Thank you 🥹🥹
WOW Could you please do a detailed video on how you added the sewing pattern to the fabric?
For sure! I want to make another fabric design again, so maybe I will film a seperate video just on that! 🙂
turned out fantastic! it was so cool how you made your own fabric!!! I am also very picky and I definitely think its worth it :)
Thank you! 🥰 yes, I agree! Being picky is worth it, despite projects taking twice as long and being twice as expensive due to it 😂😂
Love love loved this! I totally agree with all the comments below, from the process, meticulous and well thought out design through to finish, but on top of that you really present so well, love watching your tutorials, very inspiring!
Kylie, you are always so supportive and lovely 🥹 your comment put such a big smile on my face! Thank you for your support 💖
i loved the dress! i think the trim was perfect for this dress too.
Thank you! I searched for a long time to find something I liked! 😅
Engineered prints are no joke to put together, but your design is stunning, stunning, stunning! It was absolutely amazing to watch your process and the finished dress is dreamy! Great craftsmanship and skill at work.
Thank you! Yes, they can be super fiddly to make! I would love to try to create a more intricate fabric design, but this was surprisingly still technical despite how simple it looks 🥵 I actually wasn’t sure if I liked it when I picked up the fabric, hahaha! Thankfully I love it now, though 😂
I am not into sewing but really enjoy watching your videos - they are so calming & interesting. If you ever make content outside of sewing I will definitely subscribe (to your new channel) I am definitely staying subscribed to this one too!
Oh wow, that is so kind to say! I really appreciate you watching despite not being into sewing, sometimes I watch videos of topics I am not familiar, with but I enjoy learning about new things too! Thank you 🥰🥰
Wow Jess! Stunning dress! ❤❤
Thank you 🫶🏼🌸
YES! You're back ❤. My God your bloody brilliant i will obviously have to buy this pattern as well 😊.
You are so sweet, thank you for the support! I would love to make videos more often, I might make a few that don’t include a pattern so that I can get them out more often 😂
Nice tutorial, just one thing I didn’t understand if you using buttons and buttonholes why would you use zipper at the back?
Thank you! I personally find buttons on garments are too fiddly to get in and out of 😅 so it saves me time when dressing, and preserves the buttons for a bit longer too!
@@behindtheseamswithjess this is the privilege to make own garments
It truely is 🥰 it’s so fun to be able to customise every aspect!
What a beautiful dress, absolutely stunning! Thanks so very much for sharing the process of creating it!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed watching! 🥰
Jess! this dress is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!
Thank you Natasha!!!! Definitely a favourite 🥰 although I have no idea where I could wear it to 😂
Very beautiful, you should have your own fashion business. You are very talented.
Thank you! That is so lovely to say!
Beautiful just lovely
Thank you 🥰
You are just so intelligent and so well- spoken. Amazing video ams dress. Will definitely be buying the pattern! Thank you Jess 🎀
Wow wow wow, what a lovely comment! I really appreciate your kind words, thank you for the support!
Yay, great to see you back with another vid! Awesome project, I didn't realise that getting your own fabric made was something that was even possible. Definitely going to consider this for future projects :D
Thanks Jess! Honestly it’s sooo worth it! It took me a few years to finally find a style I was happy with, but once I figured that out, I really enjoyed playing around on the iPad making it all come to life 🥰 definitely send me an update if you ever do it!
@@behindtheseamswithjess Years! Wow! Amazing :D I will definitely send through an update if I do it!
This is such an incredible video!! Thank you Jess!!! 😍 I have been binge watching all of your videos. I am still making your mini linen dress and can’t wait to do this next ☺️
Thanks Camilla! Please send me photos when you finish it 🥰 and thank you for your support! 🫶🏼
Love watching the whole process, just love meticulous and neat work. Thanks for sharing Jess.
Thank you for your lovely comments Grace, I appreciate your support 🫶🏼💖
Thanks for your review. I am hoping that I can find one of these used. My daughter is finishing year 12, and wants to work at Spotlight, and at the same time start her own business, designing and creating short runs of clothing. She has been using my wife's old sewing machine, and this machine looks like a great step up for her, and something that will last. I appreciate your effort in sharing your review.
How lovely of you to be looking into machines with her! I have a friend who is getting back into sewing and she agreed that this would last her, and allow her to tackle everything she wants to make. Also the frequent 50% off machine sales at spotlight come in handy! Mine has definitely had many hundreds of hours sewn on it over the past 1.5 years and it’s going strong! Please come back to update me when she starts her business, I would love to follow!

Singer 4423 heavy duty is the model that has sensible pricing here in Europe. Even 6600C is insanely expensive here (nearly double the 4423!).
are there any Singer machines that are very reliable high quality, with very good quality button hole making and sewing buttons?
This is the only singer I have experience with, but most mid range domestic machines are fine for button holes!
Is this machine able to do leather like the 5523 is advertising. I'm a beginner looking for my first machine (after making my first skirt on a friends machine) but i'm wanting to make a lot of Steampunk projects. So need to be able to work with all fabric types.
I haven’t personally used leather with it, although I feel like I might have seen a video showing that? The most I have worked with is 6 layers of denim 😂 but you may be looking at a semi or full industrial machine if you plan to work with a lot of heavy textiles!
I have never headed over to Etsy so fast! This is incredible - this is the dress pattern of the year 🎉❤
You are so sweet 🥹 I’m working on the next one so I hope you like it too!
Does the HD 6800c have a stretch stitch function?
Hmm my model is the HD6805c and it has it, I can’t confirm for sure (you may have to look online) but I feel like it’s a super common stitch, most machines would have it!
@behindtheseamswithjess I found the manual online, and it shows which stitches are for stretch fabric. You're so sweet, thank you for answering my questions 💗 I tried to tag you in Stacy's video, did it work?
You’re welcome!! I can’t see any notifications but I will go check the video 🤪
Thank you for the video. How is it holding up after a few months of use? ❤
It’s been great so far! I have had it for just under two years and it’s been fab, just gave it a good clean up and oiling after working with some fluffy fabrics. All running well though 😄 although I am looking at an industrial juki or brother hopefully this year 😅
@behindtheseamswithjess awesome! Thank you 😀 Could you please make a video how to clean and oil this particular machine ❤️
I actually just wanted the one called “oiling a sewing machine singer heavy duty” by SewingWithStacy, that will be more helpful!
@behindtheseamswithjess thank you!! I just found it, watching it now ❤ thank you for your prompt response 😊
I’m in the US, and this machine is online for purchase at Walmart for $350
You are so lucky! Australia cops the worst pricing on all machines 🥲🥲
Thinking about upgrading from my beginner setup, I’d like to not buy another machine aside from a serger in the future. How do you guys feel about this machine? I make clothing garments for reference
I still love this machine! I make garments too and it’s been great. I am considering getting a Juki industrial by the end of the year, mostly for improved speed and stitch quality, but will definitely keep this to use for everything else than an industrial can’t do
This was very interesting to watch. I really enjoy watching people do pattern drafting. Thanks for sharing. Kudos to you for sewing on that trim.
Thanks Alex!! I love working with trim but it’s sooooo fiddly!
@@behindtheseamswithjess I agree. Your patience paid off.
How long will it take sewing by hand?🥹
Do you mean hand sewing the hem, or hand sewing the entire outfit? 😅😅
Well, i meant the whole outfit, i don’t have the machine 🥹😂💀
@meeleetsah hmmm I couldn’t say for sure how long it would take! I have never tried hand sewing a whole outfit! Most of my projects take anywhere between 20-30 hours though, so I assume it would take a while!
Yes! Tour please! ❤
Yay! Will do 🤗🎀
