Glenmaroch Lane
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 ม.ค. 2024
Based around a quaint little end of the line station in the Highlands of Scotland, this oo gauge model railway build is the latest in dcc technology seamlessly blended with classic modelling techniques. Featuring Glenhopps halt and the distillery from which the station got its name, late 80s is the theme with some wonderful examples of traction and rolling stock always making appearances.

Great stuff are the platforms scratch built or kits ?
Scratch built. If u watch the first few mins of this episode I explain how the platforms are built. th-cam.com/video/XEKt2gUARuM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GbsryFoyUKBe-hRI
Nice one
Great weathering on the trackwork. It certainly finishes off the diorama.
Excellent video realy enjoyed that.
Excellent video. Can I suggest you get some paper corridor connections for your DMUs. Makes a terrific difference.
Good suggestion... Will look into that 😎
What a great video, thank you for sharing
Like the video like sounds looks like real like the information on what is going on 👍😃
Nice video and loved the detailing l also think the weathering of your locos is top drawer mate 😊. All the best Colin from Mossend.
Great running session ,nice video
Great video! Loved this one, thanks for sharing guys!
The time table part is brilliant makes it lot more interesting great layout
McSporran Lane........fantastic weathering on your locos, very impressed.👍👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🏴
Fabulous 👍👍👍👍
WELL DONE James, what a great looking diorama
That's a great looking diorama. It looks great... Cheers James 🙂👍
Nice work.
Thanks... glad u liked it 😎
Cheers 😎
@GlenmarochLane What track is that music, please
@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway which one? There are 3 used in this video if u could give me a time in the video when it plays I could tell you 😁
Excellent detail, superb. A lot of hard work you have both put in but becoming a masterpiece
That's really nice of you to say.... thanks 😊
Looking brilliant so realistic fair play to you both
Lad's. I do enjoy your channel and the upbeat Scottish music, but I find it is offen to loud when combined with speech. As in the ver last scene on this video. I have no wish to offen only to support your channel. Regards. Steve
I totally agree... I thought I fixed that in editing, but clearly, I didn't. Your right and I do apologise.
@@GlenmarochLane No apologies required. I'm only interested in offering feedback from an honest viewer. I wish I knew how to produce your quality of video.
The procedure is called ducking. I moved the last bit of footage around slightly after I had ducked the music file. To look at, it looks like it's been ducked correctly. It's only when u zoom in u see it's out of line slightly. I had intended to re duck the segment but obviously forgot. I will get better at this as we make more content. The camera quality will get better when my s23 has been repaired and my gopro comes back from repair and I'm getting quicker with the editing. Finding more tips and tricks all the time to improve the overall quality of the videos. I glad u enjoy our content. Andys update is out Saturday morning and as far as I can tell, sound levels are OK on that one so I hope u enjoy and as always we both appreciate any feedback good or bad 😎
Great diorama build. This is certainly a video my grandson will enjoy watching... Cheers James 🙂👍
Speaking as a rivet counter, 😂😂😂😂 sorry, forklift truck operator the, red forklift should be fitted with a roll cage. And it would be more than adequate to work the distillery. Although I can't see the load capacity plate from here. 😃 The yellow one is a bit of overkill for working in a confined space/ yard. Keep up with these videos about your smashing layout and Please take this with a pinch of Salt. 😉
It's funny you should say that.... we actually researched maximum lifting weights of forklifts and the dead weight of 4 barrels on a pallet and whilst ur right, the red one, if it was modern would be on its limit lifting 4 loaded whiskey barrels, the bigger one would easily lift 8, 2 pallets of 4 so it was decided that a bigger one would be best suited to the distillery.... ha ha ha 😂
@GlenmarochLane Lifting 8 barrels on two pallets at once! Your asking an operator to do twice the amount of work in the same time? I'll have the union on to you! 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 gotta get those wagons unloaded quick smart 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@GlenmarochLane That's it, I'm off. You can drive it yourself! 😄
Nice video its looking good all the best Colin from Mossend.
🤠👋🚂🗯
Love the music. Who is it?
Nice content, I do enjoy a well put together “how too” stream.
I tried one of those kits, sadly it arrived damaged and it's only cardboard, but they look good
I built the exact same shed and had the same problems as you did - I gave up on PVA and used UHU and I used balsa strengthening blocks in the ends. I used the finished images on the website as reference for the roof bits and added black card strips to cover the top roof joints. But even so, the finished item is a pretty good looking thing.
I agree completely. It's a pain to build, but the end result is something definitely on a higher level than Metcalfe.
Nice work on the engine shed. I like the way you did the lighting in the shed.
Thanks 😎
Nice 👍
A great fleet there for the layout 👍
Hi boys good video l liked how you did the lightning it looked a bit fiddly, and l know what you mean about instructions some of these kits you would do better if they did not put them in 😊. All the best Colin from Mossend railway oo.
Thanks 👍
Awesome sound on the deltics - nice fleet video
You are single handedly keeping Paul in business! All looking good though, I have really enjoyed this run through of all your stock.
Yeah Paul does a brilliant job as always and thanks for your brilliant comment 😊
Hi Guys, nice video, the layout is amazing,as regards the trucks, you might be interested to know that BR track gangs used a Transit crew-bus on railway wheels on the West Highland Railway during the 1970s, for track inspections, might be possible to fit an Oxford die-cast body onto a Bachmann trackster chassis, although fitting a decoder might prove to be difficult, anyway, thanks for sharing, take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Thanks Steve for the lovely comments and I'll take your advice on board, thanks again for the comment 😊
nice fleet, why do you not do weathering yourself? Buy some old wagons and practise on them
We are both capable but to be fair, paul does way better than we could achieve and to be honest, we have more than enough to do with both the glenmaroch and deep glen layouts to last years 🤣🤣
Brilliant as a Scottish train enthusiast your fictional layout is outstanding mate
Deltics and 56s and even 47s possibly never went up to your neck of the woods, please get it right.
Highly researched topic this, been speaking to lots of people who know and been trough lots of lists and paperwork making sure each and every loco on the layout has visited Scotland... I can assure u, it's accurate! 😎
If you do your research proper, 47s for example spent time up at Inverness and 56s did cross the border. Please do your research before making accusations!!!!! P.S. why do you think there is a 47 in ScotRail livery? Does that not tell you something???? 😉
So where exactly is your location supposed to be, looks like Balachullish. Or some remote terminus, north of Inverness, yes 47 on the main line but not on some small branch. I have a vast collection of locos, since my railway is based on the Mallaig extension in the 70s I am restricted to using only a very few of my locos ie 20s and 27s. As I was a driver on the Scottish Region and Scottish railway is my main interest I have 100 of books on the subject so I know what I'm talking about.
@@IainDavies-z2lIt's a fictitious layout, with made up names on a Scottish themed layout, we're just using the loco's as an example that they went up to Scotland regardless of where they were, so don't be too picky.
@@IainDavies-z2lif you don't like the layout, then don't watch it!!!
An important step for the layout. 👍😃
Hi. These magnetic clips you have for lighting. Did you buy them and if so where from? They seem a brilliant idea. Many thanks.
Just search for magnetic electrical connectors on Google... many shapes and sizes to choose from to suit ur particular needs
Nice layout! 37027 unfortunately sounds like a met cam DMU? 101.
@@ianrankin5686 well that's your opinion and your entitled to it 😉
Hi good morning, i do apologise for the comment made with regards to the class 37. I too have a very large layout in my parents loft .it's taken me 42yrs so far and im still laying track . I have about 500 lima but i haven't converted to dcc yet too pricey i guess?, glenmorach lane would suit many as we dont all have the luxury of space!. Again apologies, is your layout going to secc 2025?@GlenmarochLane
@ianrankin5686 good morning, Glenmaroch Lane is a permanent fixture layout, so won't be taken anywhere. Many thanks for your comment 😁
47492 The Enterprising Scot is being released by Gaugemaster. Produced by Heljan later this year.
Oooooo nice.... one to look out for.... thanks
nice collection
Nice Video of your fleet very impressive collection
Great layout. I assume you were sponsored by TRSW. - only joking !!! Really enjoying your videos. Really helpful, informing and inspirational. Especially as I'm new back to this hobby also doing a Scottish 80's themed layout. Noticed some of the locos are fitted with the hoops to connect to the rolling stock. Appreciate if you could do a vid on them. As I'm still unsure of the best solution. Currently like the Hornby magnetic couplings between n the Bachmann coaches. Have left the tension lock couplings on the ends and have removed the standard hooks off the locos. Intend to use magnets in the track to uncouple. Kadees may be a solution. Thanks Mike
Couplings on this layout are still up in the air as to which method we eventually will use. The YD8116 Switch is capable of operating electro magnets which can be used on the kd coupling system which is something I've always wanted to try however as its not a display layout, so the hand of god is not as taboo as would normaly be. Rest assured that we will be doing a video on the system we choose and why, fairly soon as we are about to launch the "building the...." series next Saturday kicking off with the engine shed and its lighting system. We intend to cover most things within that series, so given your new back to the hobbie, I would think it would come in quite useful for you. Glad your enjoying the updates, and I hope this helps. P.s, no definetly not sponsored, although given how much is being paid out for these locos and stock.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@GlenmarochLane thanks for reply look forward to seeing more videos. 😀
Hello from the white rose county gods own in fact hope you had a great Christmas and a happy new year ❤❤🎉🎉
