She Stabs Him. It Doesn't Matter. (Craziest Scene in Anime)

There are all kinds of crazy scenes in anime, but some of the most jarring ones are where seemingly normal people in a normal setting behave in ways that no human being ever would. That's what happens in Elegant Yokai Apartment Life, and this scene has been living rent-free in my head ever since. Sure, the series has yokai, ghosts, magic, psychics, and other unnatural phenomena, but the crazies...

Sasaki and Peeps season 2 has already been announced, so should you catch up on season 1 if you haven't? Frieren Shouldn't Work (But Here's Why It Does)

      Merry Xmas to you! That change in direction was so surprising because the show also gets a lot bloodier and darker, which I was not expecting (it's never grimdark, but it's way different in tone from the early episodes). I hope you enjoy it.

    Finally someone pronouncing Alya almost correct, lol. It sounds like you completely ignored the l, which is closer to what it should sound like, compared to what everyone else is saying which is something like Al-yuh. The proper way is A-lya.

      @@littleorphananimeYT I'm not sure where this "Al-yuh" came from and why even the dub uses that when the name is obv not english. It's a shame because the dub is actually great from localization standpoint, jokes are really well conveyed, especially that wake up scene with best girl Yuki and Masachika. It's masterfully done (even though the translation isn't 100% correct, the spirit is there), the VAs just understood the assigment and delivered. But the name of titular character is just so wrong... Even the japanese dub pronouces it better (they're saying A-rya) and they don't even have '"L" sound, lol. I don't even speak Russian (another slavic language instead) but for some reason it triggers me how English speakers say it. You can even try with google translate to translate "Alya" from English to Russian and check the Russian pronouciation, I think it's spot on. Sorry for this meaningless rant :D

    I used to think this show was about the shinrikyo gas sarin subway incident and how this incident destroyed lots and lots of families and relationships in the past and in the future, that is why there are so many orphans in the show. Maybe that is just a typical conspiracy explanation of a cryptic anime story. Like it is so cryptic that people projects themselfs meaning.

  • @shinji177
    @shinji177 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Love these videos. One thing that finally clicked on a recent rewatch is that the Penguindrum or the magic that puts destiny on the right track is love. With that in mind, a lot of symbols make more sense (disclaimer i might be wrong): -HHH sing Rock over japan when Himari is posessed because they represent the love Himari and her friends dreamt of in the ideal timeline. That is why the Princess invokes it during the Survival Strategy. -The diary is initially assumed to be the Penguindrum because it was what Momoka used to change destiny. In effect it's a symbol of her love for humanity. Later it becomes Ringo's penguindrum, symbolising her love for her sister and the Takakura siblings. -HH appear on the train announcements in every episode. While their message act as foreshadowing/commentary for the episode, their omnipresence hints at the fact they still love Himari despite being separated. This gets paid off when they visit the house in the finale. -Assuming the Penguindrum is love, the reason HH's song unlocks the power of the diary in the finale is it's a miraculous display of genuine love. Again, thanks for the vids. They really helped me get more out of this show😊.

    IMO one of the most overrated anime of all time. I think It's premise is great actually. Having a Iyashikei-style series but melancholic with themes of loss, regret, war, nature etc. is so fucking refreshing. And the show was like that in the first 5 episodes or so until it started to become another generic adventure (later battle shonen/seinen) series, which was such a big bummer. The callbacks to friren's past didn't convey much after the first few times they did it, and thematically they didn't construct anything worthwhile or compelling. The execution is incredibly shallow in my eyes. I honestly don't see the depth anyone else sees...

      It's crazy to me that you mentioned the Aria series, a show that basically nothing happens in but explores alot more thematic ground (in it's own themes of choice) than friren did, but you still say a premise where "an elf being depressed for 28 episodes" (obviously reductionist description) is something that is inherently boring...

    Isekai has 2 unique directions: The most common is traveling through a parallel world via magic [portal]. Anything from basics like Alice in Wonder, Wizard of Oz, and Peter Pan to common anime like Digimon and Gate. Another is to die in one world and be reincarnated in another world.

    thanks for the video ! i had noticed the saturation while watching and even did some screenshots to show to my friends lol also, is this the anime where they drink coffee together and one says something like "i got lost in your eyes" or something like that ? i think it's super cub that has a scene like this, but i completely forgot ! :D

    • @littleorphananimeYT

      I think that's a different anime that has that scene, although there's a surprising amount of time spent on coffee for an anime about scooters. 😆 I think it's funny that you were sending screenshots to other people and then found this video: that's a pretty unique coincidence.

    didn't like Utena at all but then saw someone mention Penguindrum so I went ahead and watched it many thanks for the video; you makes things less baffling somewhat. the last 3 or so episodes were a bit maddening cuz I felt there was no more coherence or logic. the so-called right track and the true nature of the penguindrum were all open to interpretation and I'm not even sure if the creator himself knew just like you I enjoyed the seizon senryaku segments massively. they r now basically my favourite transformation sequences and that's saying a lot a question - while Ringo stalked the glasses guy she was recreating bit by bit events recorded in Momoka's diary so Momoka must've got a few dirty secrets of her own as well? she and glasses guy were in a relationship that was hardly appropriate for school children, either that or she was also a delusional stalker/yandere like Ringo

    • @littleorphananimeYT
      @littleorphananimeYT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always got the impression that the thoughts in Momoka's diary were relatively sweet and innocent, but the lengths that Ringo had to go to make them a reality was where all the stalker energy was coming from. Now I want to go back and see if some of those diary entries do indeed paint Momoka as more of an obsessed stalker herself . . .

Yeah that was the grandmother that I wasn't close to who never got me anything never had any moments where she acted like she cared about me and definitely wasn't fun to be around. I always found it interesting that there were two river spirits in the film, both with ties to Sen/Chihiro. As rivers/water is a symbol for purification in Shintoism, I wonder if including two of them was indicative of cleansing the two sins of greed and gluttony, as discussed above.

    • @littleorphananimeYT
      @littleorphananimeYT 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always wondered why there were two river spirits as well. It seems like such an oddly specific type of creature to have *two* copies of. I really like your suggestion that they are both needed to cleanse those two types of sin.

    fascinating video, im so glad to know that people are still talking about this masterpiece of a movie in new and interesting ways. it encourages me to think about aspects of the movie in different contexts. something that always intrigued me was how easily and readily chihiro gave up the purging medicine to haku and no face even though she meant to save it for her parents. she had the key to getting out of her situation in a quicker manner, yet she decided to split it in half and offer it to others instead. chihiro working to save her parents could be interpreted as them getting into some kind of debt (her parents carelessly consuming or taking from shady figures, forced to give themselves up as payment and only their daughter can free them through arduous work). i interpreted the river spirit's gift as a favor to chihiro, a way to reward and recognize her hard work. something like a rare opportunity given by a wealthy and high-ranking individual to aid someone less fortunate. in this context, i wonder what it means for chihiro to give up such a favor when she was so desperate to save her parents. perhaps she felt that haku and no face needed the help more than her parents did? there's a chance that the consequences for haku and no face's descent into greed would be even more severe than it was for her parents. or maybe it was just something in her nature that pushed her to help others above her own goals. either way, the extent of chihiros humility and willingness to refuse things she doesn't need/give up things that others may need more in that moment is such an interesting character trait. i'd love to hear any thoughts

    • @littleorphananimeYT
      @littleorphananimeYT 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that there's a lot of similarity to the situation in the movie and one where the parents get into debt and pass along the hardship to their daughter. If I remember rightly, there's a part where Chihiro directly tells No Face that she was saving the gift for her parents, but she thinks No Face needs it more, so that would explain where her mind is at concerning the gift and giving it away. That part where you say there was something in Chihiro's nature that pushed her to help others above herself rings true to me: I think the trials she undergoes in the story bring out those better qualities of her inner nature. Interesting post.
