    Prima Ding.

    This is nearly exactly what I have been looking for, for years, but for being able to do single track, and for price. (It is pretty near perfect though) In Canada, that is a trailer that costs between 1177. - and 1800 bucks. Of course I would need the one that is 1800 bucks. I had a bob trailer and loved it, but it was not easy to do grocery pick up as an instore cart, and I sold it thinking I could easily replace it later but no. It now costs 2 times what it did when I bought it new. I have my kid's chariot which was handy moving kitties from place to place and for some groceries but again not easy to take instore. There was another German trailer I saw and liked a few years back but again getting it to Canada was prohibitive (Hinterher?). I also saw those things that the doomsday preppers use called a bug out trailer. It is kind of cool in that it can hook to a belt around the waist for when on foot and one had back pack straps so if needing to get off bike and hike a bike the tralier can strap to one's back... I think about designing one but I have no shop capabilities. Pretty nice.

      if you'll have your own design, wouldn't commissioning a canadian welder to build it be still 2-3 times cheaper than any of these german options? (veolo, hinterher, monowalker are all german)

    3½ years ago i bought a large sized Trixie dog trailer specifically as a cargo trailer for €131 from Amazon and it's been fabulous. I think it's 230 litres of fully enclosed cargo space so nothing will fall out. Just load up your fully packed reusable shopping bags or anything else and zip it up and off you go. My average load is between 30 to 50 kg but I have had over 70 kg on it behind an ordinary bicycle with no problems after almost 2,000 km. I also got an actual cargo trailer soon after as well, a Duramaxx Mountie for just €105 for bulkier loads that won't fit inside the dog trailer and because the front and rear sections fold down, I am also able to fit a 400 litre plastic storage container with a lid on it using mini ratchet straps for a huge volume of carrying capacity. These two trailers allow me to carry 90% of everything by bicycle that I would otherwise use my car for and essentially turn an ordinary bicycle into a full cargo bike for a relatively tiny investment. This trailer featured is great and I would really like to own one. But I'm absolutely not going to pay €700/1,000+ for one. There's no way that bag has a realistic secure 200 litres of carrying capacity for a shopping trip. I love the trailers high weight carrying capacity of 80 kg and I was thinking if it was longer and wider it would have a great potential. But it's really quiet small. My dog trailers internal floor space alone is substantially larger at 60x80 cm. My two trailers are both "German" brands but they are both made in China. This is a beautiful high quality small scale boutique product that will be a lifetime investment but I'm afraid at those prices, I'm not going to be a customer. Maybe........ If the floor space was wider and twice as long and if it had say, 60 cm foldable sides all round with a full removable cover then perhaps it could be a perfect all in one do everything trailer and worth spending over 700 bucks? But it's not. I have seen a Chinese trailer on Alibaba for over 300 bucks I'm seriously thinking about buying which I think is 80 cm wide and 1.2 metres long. It'd be fun to have it especially for my new e-bike but then, do I really need it especially when I also do own a car? And a car trailer which I bought second hand for €250 fifteen years ago.

    The suspension design is a nice feature, but the recessed cargo area could limit some carrying options. I'm running a Burley flatbed for that max space. Main issue I see is that this costs as much as 3-4 of the Burley models for a smillar capacity and realistic weights (hauling more than 50Kb on a non-electric bike is a challenge on it's own)

    And compared to equivalent model from Hinterher ??? Trailer seems to be very good, but I am a little bit sceptical about the capacity of the 220 liters bag, when you take into account the available surface of the trailer... Maybe vertically fully open, but it is not usable that way; something around 150 liters, which is already very spacious, seems more credible for actual "waterproof closed bag" usage. Only medium elastomers seem to be delivered with the trailer; at this price, it is not acceptable not to get both medium and heavy elastomers. Some kind of suspension seems a good idea, but is it not an additional source of problems to have more mobile parts on a trailer, which is granted for 80 kg (that's a lot) ???

    Hi! The OROX Bosch engine is currently only gen 4 while Riese & Muller have models with gen 5 in its current bikes and there are several benefits to Gen 5. Have they told you if or when they plan on using Gen 5? Gen 5 is pretty much the same specs, but a lot less noisy and also less rattling, plus better "feel" due to more sensors and tuned refresh for the sensors. All that said, I am really looking forward to seeing an even deeper test of the bike!

    • @thecargobikechannel
      @thecargobikechannel 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can find a longer, more in depth video on my German channel. About the motor: well, Gen5 was just presented in October and I guess, there will be Gen4 smart system motors for a very long time. I have a bike with Gen5 motor here and must say, that the difference isn’t too big. The Gen4 is already very advanced, gen5 is just a tad quieter but doesn’t add much more in daily use. Tern did start to develop this bike a couple of years ago and likely has plenty of „old“ motors left, which is why they stuck with this one.

    You ended up with a great point about the bikes total weight capacity. I'm a 2 metres tall and 120 kg Irish man so I would be left with a very small additional weight capacity. And at 46 kg for the bike, I would have expected that to have made it structurally even stronger to support additional weight capacity? And there are so many other "premium" cargo bikes that are exactly the same I have discovered. After watching a video earlier this year featuring the R&M Load 75 (I think?), the video ended with the weight capacity and with me in the saddle, there would be less than 30 kg additional weight capacity. I have pulled over 70 kg on large trailers behind an ordinary hybrid bicycle plus additional luggage on the actual bike without much difficulty and it was a disappointment to learn that most purpose built cargo bikes costing between €5,000-€12,000 in reality have very limited weight capacity. These bikes have been described as the SUV's of bikes and car replacements but with these limitations they have a long way to go to live up to those aspirations in reality. As much as I would love a bike like this, because I only need the full capacity of a large cargo bike once a week on average, I'm happy to stick with my €600 bicycle plus my two trailers that cost €131 and €105 respectively and give me more weight and volume capacity than most €6,000+ cargo bikes. Very interesting and informative videos. And despite their limitations for taller and heavier riders like myself, I still love everything about cargo bikes and their practicality and utilitarianism so I have subscribed.

    So for people who are thinking about buying this, I have R&M Multicharger2 and purchased this Cube Longtail out of curiosity as I wanted to carry bit more stuff with me at times. Now that I have been driving personally with it for a while, I don't know what magic cube has done with this frame but I did 200km tour trip with this and it felt much more comfortable to do compared to Multicharger2. I have theory that for longer distances where you have good roads, normal fork is actually better than suspended..? I replaced battery with PowerPack 800 and replaced front light with new Cube Acid Pro 140 (with high beam feature). Stand is problematic, I contacted dealer support and heard they still don't know what do with it and suggested to replace it with normal one sided kickstand leg.

    For all the utilities mentioned, which would you choose between this and Muli, Monopole, Omnium, Ten07, R&M Carrie and Yoonit? Also, which is more versatile according to you and why?

    • @thecargobikechannel
      @thecargobikechannel 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The ride quality of the CS is just so good, right before the R&M Carrie. The other ones are just a bit less comfortable. But those two are quite costly. Muli and Carrie are the most simple to use because of their boxes. Monopole, Omnium and Ten07 all require to strap your luggage down on the flat loading areas or to use third party crates. As I think of it, like with the CS, but the center rack is already quite enclosed. Omnium and Ten07 can take the largest loads. I'd choose the Yoonit, if space is the biggest issue, because this thing is small but still very capable.

    I have demo ridden an Orox a couple of times now and its become my favourite bike! I use hybrid bikes around town and enjoy both MTB and EMTB riding, and i love how familiar the riding position is to an MTB. I was very sceptical when i first saw it but after a couple of rides i have really come to appreciate its capability. It has loads of power and the fat tires give an amazing amount of traction. The lack of suspension slightly limits what it can do but the bike's length and tire volume really smooth out the ride. I thought it would be horrendously slow on the road but its actually really easy to pedal even with the motor off as long as you don't go too low on the tire pressures. Given the minimal price difference to a GSD I'd get the Orox of you like to venture off paved roads, as it has the same carrying abilities but it lets you adventure into to hills. An EMTB with a trailer could also work, but somehow this bike puts more of a smile on your face when riding it!

    • @thecargobikechannel

      If you buy the base model, you would also have to buy the battery mounting hardware to fit the second battery in the downtube. It's not plug and play. So if you need the extra battery capacity, I'd choose a double battery setup right ahead.

    • @thecargobikechannel
      @thecargobikechannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are just similar in the fact, that both are long tail cargo bikes. The ride feel, geometry and range of accessories are quite different, though Cube is not far off in the last point. But also the GSD is much more expensive. I feel like, Cube took a few shortcuts to get the price down but still managed to get great ideas into the bike, while Tern went all in and refined the first Gen GSD by a lot. However, we are at a point, where I would either wait for the third Gen GSD with the Smart System or choose the less expensive Quick Haul long, if I'd buy a Tern. But the Cube is great if you can live with the kickstand and the other flaws, which are stated in the other comments.

  • @prodigalSon000
    @prodigalSon000 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I was waiting for you to mention the biggest flaw with this bike and it's not the kickstand. It's the fact that that tiny elastomer keeps breaking even after 100km. I don't know if they fixed it, or if they could ever fix it without making it out of solid aluminium and lose that cushioning property.
