Hi! If you're just as mad about trains as I am, then welcome to this channel! I post all things trains, most of the time the videos will be about trains at stations and catching the weird and wonderful moments that may come, but I like to add different content from time to time, as a bit of a surprise! Enough about me, go and enjoy my videos!
London Overground to London Bridge
On Sunday 31st March 2024, London Overground trains ran to a station that isn't even on the Overground network - London Bridge. But why? Well in this video I explain why, as well as documenting these Overground trains in action. I hope you enjoy!

Exploring the new Bond Street Elizabeth Line station!
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Bond Street is the final station to open on the Elizabeth Line. I had time to visit the station on its opening day, and also get to go on the first trains to stop there (and also a tour around the station because I'm nice...). I had a great time meeting lots of other rail fans (who knows, you might be seen in this video!). So sit back, relax, and enjoy the commentary! Go subscribe! @Denzelsworld

Barking Riverside | London's Newest Rail Station!
มุมมอง 4002 ปีที่แล้ว
Barking Riverside station opened earlier this week, so I went to check it out. It's safe to say that this new station has been barking mad (Terrible joke, I'm sorry...)! I was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness of the journey, and the station building, even if it's small, is very pleasing to me. Personally, I think that it's a big boost to the local area which is still developing with new h...

17 Minutes of Clapham Junction being busy!
มุมมอง 4372 ปีที่แล้ว
Clapham Junction is one of the busiest railway stations in the UK in terms of the number of trains that pass through every day. So I set my camera up at the bridge linking platforms 1-6 with 7-17 and filmed so many trains I lost count! Whilst you're bewildered by the complexity of this station, make sure to count many trains are there in this video. Enjoy!

As someone who lives in Thameslink territory I love those trains but hated when they ran 4 car st Albans service
Jubilee line announcement! The next station is London Bridge. Doors will open on the right hand side. Change for the Northern Line, London Overground and National Rail Services.
Cool! I love the diagrams
april fool's joke by tfl
At New Cross Gate and New Cross (and Surrey Quays for Peckham etc) there were replacement bus services , though these were not clearly marked nor appeared to be running to the advertised timetable
There were replacement buses, I just didn't show that in this video
Could have done with that Thameslink stopping at New Cross Gate as additional service
Super great Video! 😀Thumbs Up👍
The overground also goes to Bermondsey (limited service) which is not on the map
Good to know that it is physically possible for Overground trains to travel to London Bridge. Longer term, the problem is Southern Trains’ reluctance to develop services from Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park and Brockley. Pre Overground, there were six trains an hour on most of this line, now there are just two. Half hourly services don’t provide any incentive for passengers to ‘turn up and go’, which is essential for any proper urban transport network. As a result, the few remaining Southern Trains on this route are often empty, whilst the more frequent Overground services are often packed - leading to further overcrowding for those changing at Canada Water on to the Jubilee Line.
I sure hope Southern do indeed increase their services as they planned, or else this issue will become worse in the future...
Southern were providing Pilot driving staff on the New Cross Gate - London Bridge Section - with LO taking over at New Cross Gate
The train also arrived in the Southern-only platform at New Cross Gate (platform 2) - it would usually arrive in platform 1
Indeed so!
I think the Mayor of London should grab any slots that the privatised operators abandon and increase coverage of London Overground, until every service that terminates in Zone 6 or close to Zone 6 is operated by London Overground trains. However, we do have a strange situation where Central Government and the Mayor of London are from different political parties and MPs working for Central London are being obstructive to the needs of London commuters, because they do not want a Mayor working for the opposition to look good. So I don't think that will be allowed to happen, until we get a general election that aligns the country with the politics of Greater London. Ideally the trains from London Bridge and other stations that do not stop within or close to Zone 6 (like trains that travel to Brighton) could all be grouped under a new nationalised regional operator that returns to the name Network South East and the counties surrounding London as well as Greater London could be given a new devolved democratic government that owns Network East and that regulates all the busses in South East England (but outside of Greater London). I think that the people of South East England would easily understand that Network South East is express commuter trains from the surrounding counties, London Overground is short distance commuter trains, London Underground is commuter trains that travel across London. I also think that the Elizabeth Line, Thameslink and the railway line from East Croydon via Kensington Olympia to Watford Junction should all be given the group branding of "Crossrail" and should all get purple roundels. As people would then understand that "Network South East" was long distance trains into London and "Crossrail" was long distance trains through London.
Also on Easter Monday there were Thameslink trains running between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks (via beckenham Junction and Herne Hill) skipping stations on the chatham line.
Good spot! I remember it used to be a limited service line before the Thameslink project came along
Is this service well-communicated in advance, in the event of such engineering works?
I learned this information from an online article a few months back, however it was difficult to find such information through TfL... in the end I had to use Google maps to confirm that the service was indeed running! Hope this helps.
Thanks; yes that does sound par-for-the-course, re: TfL. National Rail app/website would be pretty handy, too, I would imagine.
@@dartricky8689 It's difficult to get TfL to confirm that London Overground runs to Battersea Park, and trains run there every day of the week. Ideally, TfL will eventually upgrade the London Overground trains to ones with electronic route maps (like the 777 trains in Liverpool have) and the trains can be programmed to store specialist route maps, like ones that go into London Bridge, so that a driver just needs to dial in the right code to get the right information to passengers.
Awesome!!!!

UPDATE: Class 701s are now (finally) in service, and so are the Class 805s The London Overground's new names have been revealed and implemented Work has started on Colindale station, which is closed until December
The first 701 came into service in January. Hurrah!
Better than expected from a video with an exclamation mark at the end of its title.
January Update. 1. Refurbishment of 1992 stock - project posponed pending resolution of Fujitsu's operating system. 2. DLR trains - posponed pending report of the new DLR's name national enquiry. 3. Avanti West Coast - being reconsidered now that they're going to do the east coast this year for a change. 4. East Midlands Railway - Class 221 will be replaced by 801, Class 980 replaced by 567 and 822's on alternate Tuesdays. 5. South Western Railway - Posponed because they've paid the Chief Executive all the money the've got. 6. London tube stations - Cancelled because the plans don't afford for the demolition of enough art deco buildings. 7. Old Oak Common - Posponed because the paperwork has got muddled up with the environment agency's timber protected species project. 8. London Overground re-naming - All ready to go with the new names: Victoria, Bekerloo, Northern, Central, Piccadilly and District. 9. Automatic Signalling - All ready to go now that all the extra signalling staff have been provided. 10. 4G and 5G - Posponed as they've found the strings between the plastic cups get in the way of the trains.
This is an amazing video! Both detailed and concise - consider me a new subscriber. Only thing I would add is that Old Oak Common will also serve Elizabeth Line trains, and "connections to surrounding lines" (I assume you mean the new overground stations) have been cancelled in the latest HS2 plan. Hopefully they'll be built some day/
Think you missed out the LNWR class 730s
Yes I did! Their introduction has been going on for a while now which is probably why I missed that out

I know London is our main population hub, but they really need to start improving transport in other parts of the country too
Excellent informative video. One improvement long overdue is a new footbridge and lifts at Norwood Junction. This is a much under-used interchange which is currently very inconvenient (and disabled inaccessible) because of narrow, steep staircases and awkward tunnels. Plans have been afoot for a while but have faltered because of funding problems. If completed, this project could open up new scope for interchanging between the Overground and Gatwick/South Coast trains, relieving pressure on East Croydon,
Thanks for the insight! I think why it's been left out for some time is because of its proximity to East Croydon, but I still think that better facilities are needed at the station.
The problem is that East Croydon is now seriously overcrowded (with trains as well as passengers) and there is chronic congestion at the Windmill Hill junction just north of the station. As a result, it is now not served at all by Southern trains on the busy line from London Bridge via New Cross Gate, Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill, Sydenham etc, and there are even very few trains between Norwood Junction and East Croydon. On top of this, unlike Norwood Junction, East Croydon lacks a link with the burgeoning, and increasingly popular, Overground network.
Leagrave OP🎉
You don’t need a whole new constellation of rolling stock to provide USB charging points. People on trains with mobile phone are afeckin’ nuisance. Stavros
I believe Old Oak Common will also have a Crossrail Station to help improve accessibility into London. With Avanti it would be nice to see some services.
Indeed!
It’s Christmas Holiday…… not holiday season wimp.
Thanks for the concise and neat update. I’ve recently retired from SWR so will await with bated breath for the 701 s cheers ATT
No problem!
Grays Station which is just outside of London using the Oyster Cards in the New Year the Subway Tunnel will be closed for 12 months for building lifts to go underground to go under the railway at the stations. the only way to go the other platform is to cross the railway crossing but when the gate closes for the train to come and say you got like a buggy or wheelchair and you need to get to the other side then you will miss your train and wait for 30 mins for the next train.
Btw Feltham is pronounced Felt-ham not Fel-tham
Beautiful, modern station.
UK and London transportation is exciting, I am a foreigner.
Why is so much rolling stock made abroad?
I guess it depends on the country of origin of the company that makes these rolling stock Bombardier, as a company based in the UK, would build their trains here, but another company from a different country, say Siemens in Germany, would build their trains there instead, as it's cheaper to use their own facilities than build new ones.
if EMR haven't improved their seats over what they were originally going for then it's still going to be a massive downgrade on the Meridians, they have the better seats in third class than theit "first class of the future" seats at Sheffield
Well let's hope that the seating is up to the standards of the current trains!
No sign of a project to stop the Victoria line being so horribly noisy then?
Would apply to most, if not all tube lines, but no signs at all. The reason why trains are noisy is the combination of straight bogies and curved track - friction between the wheels and the rail make the 'horribly noisy' sound. Hope this explains everything.
@@AllTheTrainspotting You clearly haven't used the Victoria line, it is quite unbearable and, being one of the newest, does not have sharp bends. The shrieking noises are directly related to speed.
@@batman51 I doubt speed is the main culprit of the shrieking noises... People on rail forums have said that the 1967 stock had no problems in terms of noise and they have the same speed limit as the 2009 stock, so maybe it's the new trains that are the issue?
Great British Railways?
Who knows lol. MPs were constantly umming and erring over it the last few years, lots of them raised fears of "backdoor nationalisation". Now an election is on the horizon, and everyone in politics wants to appeal to car-centric Toryland down south, so don't hold out any hope.
It has no parliamentary time before the expected general election.
Looking at the London Overground on the map, I don't see the point of separating out the routes and giving them different names.
If you go to the TfL website, you more often than not see the London Overground flagged as 'Part Closure' or 'Minor Delays'. For the regular customer this may be confusing as someone next to, say the South London Line, would initially think that their local Overground Line is closed when in reality it's just the Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside Line that is closed. In a way, this gives customers more clarity in terms of displaying status updates.
@@AllTheTrainspotting: the 'part closure' will be particularised, but the rule is check before you leave.
Very informative video! Other news recently, is that, in a recent statement, Aylesbury MP Rob Butler has been having talks with Chiltern Railways Managing Director Richard Allan, about acquiring new rolling stock and lengthening the trains between Aylesbury and Marylebone. Fingers crossed, as the ageing 32 year old 'Chiltern Turbo' 165's really need upgrading or replacing.
Wow, I didn't know that was planned! Thanks for the insight!
They really need to revamp this line, as well as bringing back the proposed link to Milton Keynes via East West Rail.
@@ds1868 100%. I'm wondering, as Chiltern share the track with London Underground between Amersham and Harrow, that's why they also have to get new stock - because of the signalling upgrades.
@ChilternTransportProductions At least the Chiltern Class 168s have semi-comfortable seating. The Aylesbury-Marylebone 165s mainly have those really uncomfortable 'Ironing Board' seats, with very little padding. Granted, the journey time is only just over an hour, but after a day out, or a few hours of walking around in London, you want the journey home to have some degree of comfort.
I know where they can get some Class 222 Meridians in the coming year and there are some Class 68s with some nice new carriages going spare up north too. I think the trains to Moor St are pretty good but if they could speed things up and knock a few more minutes off the journey to Birmingham, they'd really give Avanti a challenge; it's only about 20 minutes slower via the Chiltern Mainline at present.
The SWR new train implementation has been nothing short of embarrassing.
I agree!
Class 701's being introduced in 2024? Do you believe in the Tooth Fairy too?
There is a possibility... driver training has been going on for some time now, and the pay issue with the unions have largely died down. If I estimate, these trains might be in service by the last quarter of 2024, but we shall see 👀
Very informative but your narration was way too rushed and felt like you were in an Olympic sprint. Even I felt out of breath when it had finished 😂
I guess that's what happens if you try to fit in 5 minutes of footage! Thanks for the feedback though, I will try to implement it next time!
I’m planning on going to London for a day trip in the February Half Term so I hope EMR start to introduce the Class 810s in February. I’ll also make a train ride video on the refurbished Central Line trains.
There unfortunately haven't been many updates regarding the Class 810, I estimate they will be in service at the end of 2024. Good luck trying to find a refurbished Central Line train! I unfortunately couldn't find any but if you do want to find one I would suggest going to Hainault and its depot... even then I would doubt that they would be there since there are so few trains that have been refurbished. I hope you will enjoy your trip into London though!
Im a bit confused, will the class 805/7 be tilting trains as they are unique to the WCML and would think because of other trains on there being tilting trains too
No. They are replacing the Class 221s but they don’t have a tilting system. As a result they will have following the standard speed limits. When they are in electric mode they should have a much faster acceleration compared to the Super Voyagers anyway so it wouldn’t be too bad.
@transportationuk7656 For example London Euston to Birmingham will be 30 seconds slower than the 221s on the current speed limits but the plan is to upgrade the speed limits for non tilting trains to 125mph.
This video popped up in my feed out of the blue and I’m not a big rail nerd, however I do watch some small select videos doing travel reviews etc. Anyway interesting video very concise, no waffle but you were speaking very fast maybe it’s enhanced a little. Anyway best of luck you should make more videos and try to build up an audience a bit further 😊
Thanks so much for the feedback!
I assume we'll also see some 2024 stock being tested on the Piccadilly line
That is correct! Thanks for the comment!
im gonna hate the introduction of 4g and 5g to the underground i want ma train to be quiet
It’s pronounced felt-hmm
I really butchered my pronunciation in some places... oops!
There’s also gonna be Piccadilly Line New Trains in 2025
Yes indeed - this year they will only do testing and some lineside upgrades along the route, as well as the two major depots getting refurbished - thanks for the comment!
