    You make fair points but it’s also just plain and simple more easy to learn how to actually ride a bike in a smaller bike (regardless of power) than a big bike unless you have the build for it. Smaller bikes with less weight are a lot more forgiving than litre bikes when learning how to lean and countersteer, and the lower torque helps a lot with throttle control at starts and mid turn. Smaller bikes provides a safer and more friendly environment than litre or bigger bikes. Power to you for starting with that one though, you seem level headed enough for it even though I disagree with your choice hahaha

    Sure you can start on just about any bike. But like anything, starting on something more manageable is the smarter more responsible choice. Its like any other dangerous new hobby or skill. Take it easy, learn the basics and move forward as new skills become second nature. Learning to ride was amazingly fun and I'm glad I learned on a beginner bike.

    A lot of people don't know that the torque is really high end in a lot of inline 4 bikes, so while a liter bike has almost 4 times the horsepower of your average beginner bike, most of it doesn't wake up until you really dig the throttle. That's not to say that the gears still aren't really tall and that even that little bit of torque in the low-end is still really fast. You can start on a liter bike and I think there's a large group of people that could comfortably. But I still think it's a conflict of interest to get a track machine that's made with the soul purpose of speed at no compromises and then riding it like a cruiser. I respect everyone's choice of what they chose to ride and hope they enjoy it, but at the same time, I feel a large majority of people will have much more fun with riding starting out with smaller bikes and working up. The feeling of getting comfortable with a bike then "leveling up" to something stronger is like riding motorcycles again for the first time. All that to say, lots of people can safely start on 1000s, but I don't think it's the best course of action for either fun or safety.

      Agreed. I understand just wanting a liter bike because it looks cool and sounds cool and it is exciting to know and tap into what it is capable of, but I think that excitement will die down over time. I have ridden and love all kinds of bikes. I find that each one feels best when it is used for its designed purpose. I personally would not buy a liter bike unless I planned to do several track days a year and I actually had the skill to produce better lap times with it than I could on a 600. I inherited an old 600 supersport that I have done one track day on so far and even though I have been riding for almost 20 years on the street I couldnt keep up with the instructor on an r3. I wouldnt gain anything from having a liter bike on track now. I also own a BMWf900r that is comfortable and excellent for commuting, touring, and twisty roads. If I used a liter bike for those things I'd get the sound and the look, but lose comfort for me and a passenger, luggage space, usable torque, ease of device mounting, ease of maintenance, cheap insurance, great mirrors, easy low speed handling, great visibility, great gas mileage and range, better offroad capability. And the only real noticable difference in performance would be increased agility, because in the real world law abiding riders go the same speed whether they have 45hp or 145hp. Even the increased agility is just compared to the relativly sluggish f900r. Something like a street triple is just as agile on the street. I would just encourage MC Locs to try many different styles of motorcycle, I think it is unlikely that the gsxr1000 will bring the most joy for his use case.

    Definitely wouldn’t recommend a liter bike as a first bike. Not saying it’s gonna kill you or anything but imo you’d be so much better off starting on a smaller bike and mastering how to control a motorcycle and moving up instead of growing into and just managing a big bike instead of really controlling it. Not saying it can’t be done but it’s gonna take a decent bit longer. I started on a 600 and in even though I turned out fine in hindsight I would have rather started on like a 400. Good luck learning I just hope you have a lot of respect for that bike. As long as you do it won’t kill you probably😭

      Also a 2023 gsxr1000 should have far more than 160hp. The stock gsxr1000 makes 200hp at 13,200 rpm so unless you had it intentionally detuned to be SLIGHTLY more beginner friendly then there’s smth wrong with that motor

    • @MCLocsLife
      @MCLocsLife 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My GSXR-1000R with CS Racing exhaust base was 139hp. After Dyno Tuned and flashed, it went to 169hp at 13500 rpm. This bike does not come from the factory at 200hp.

    • @joshholtz944
      @joshholtz944 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MCLocsLife bro yes it does a liter bike will not come from the factory with 139hp. my 2007 ZX6R makes 125hp from factory and yours should be much higher than just 14hp more. You can look it up Suzuki lists the specs of the bike themselves. If it’s really that low and you didn’t get it detuned you should take it back to the dealer bc there is smth wrong with that motor like loss of compression or smth

    • @joshholtz944

Just like how the 2023 gsx-r1000 comes from factory with 200-202hp depending on who you ask but nonetheless Suzuki said it themselves. I’m not trying to hate or anything I’m trying to warn you that a modern 1000cc sport bike should not be making such low power figures. Have it inspected by a shop bc if it is that low then you wanna catch the issue sooner rather than later

      inline 4s in general are pretty tame as long as you treat them appropriately. if you disrespect them, they'll disrespect you but if you have the self control to baby it while you learn your own limitations like staying out of the power band until you're more comfortable to ease into it then you'll be fine enough to get around they're only really a death wish when you overestimate your skill level and underestimate what the bike is capable of sending to the wheels when you're not wanting it. as far as actually learning and practicing goes, imo a big fancy bike as your starter is only a self inflicted hinderance since the price tag and cost of repair if you ever drop it will forever hold you back from getting over the fear of leaning it over even for things like u turns

    Can you yes, should you no. Been ridng 8 years now and you will learn much more and faster on a smaller lighter bike. You say you controll the bike, yeah true but not as well as you think. But thays just my opinion and ill never hate on someone that thinks differently. You should look into advanced classes and track days so you can actually enjoy that big cc bike. Stay safe homie
