FREE LUMBER FOR MY HOUSE RENOVATION
In this video I show you how I managed to a have a free source of lumber for my farm renovation. It might be common in the US but I think it could benefit a lot of us here in EU. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Cheers.

Hello everyone, I bought this very crusty Bobcat 743 for 5,6k€ but it needs a lot of work. I'm renovating an old stone farm in Brittany (France).This machine will be pretty handy for a lot of jobs on the property. This is the progress I did on the machine since last video. Don't forget to check it out first. I'm not a professional mechanic so please let me know what i'm doing wrong and your pro...

    At 15:40 this was pretty dangerous, when you were pulling that metal plate, that strap could become a slingshot, if that metal hook broke free it would come shooting straight at you, even if the strap just broke, it could become a whip. I would hate to hear that you got hurt my friend.

    You seem quite resourceful... small sawmill, truck to haul materials, and the Bobcat. If you haven't done it yet, try and grease that ujoint between the pump and engine on the 743. Many owners are unaware of that particular ujoint.

    • @BaguetteWorkshop
      @BaguetteWorkshop 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks ! Yes I've heard some horror story of this u-joint exploding the flywheel/fan. I tried to grease it but i'm not convinced I did anything since the access is so terrible. However I cannot feel major play so I think i'm safe for now.

  • @raytalbot5890
    @raytalbot5890 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you could have cut & fixed 3/4 metal strips to the bottom of the bucket extending forward, reinforcing the bucket first then put the long front plate on that would have given you more to weld to & a stiffer bucket for future use?? 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

    Be careful,you amputated the bucket of its cutting edge,wich is abrasive resistant steel,way harder than the bucket itself. If you don't re use a hardened cutting edge it will wear out the bucket fast on the edge. It's generaly AR 500 steel or similar.

    • @BaguetteWorkshop
      @BaguetteWorkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I was aware of that and was tempted to buy hardened steel, but for now I just could not justify the extra cost. The blade I put is 10mm and will probably be sufficient for the next 5 years ;) Thanks for stopping by !

    Hey so a friend of mine has a get-away property in france in the mountains where we use the exact same machine, its in better condition but its still pretty bad and could really do with a compleete rebuild untill then ive slowly been fixing it over the course of 3 years, but its a slow process since we only go there 1 or 2 weeks at a time 3 times a year, not to mention when we're there we constantly need the machine so i cant dig in it too deep, tho ive been able to fix one of the pins for locking the attachment, wich would often not lock ive also made it so it can be shut off from inside the cab again (for a long time you had to walk to the back of the machine and pull a metal wire sticking out of the door, pretty sketchy since the machine likes to crawl forward). Since the old cable was broken and i could not find a replacement i used a choke cable for a citroen mehari Last time i went there i got the wiring for the gauges to work so at least now we have a volt meter, hope to get the fuel and temp gauge working again as well tho, rn we just pour a few liters of diesel at random intervals Also that temp gauge would be real great cuz its leaking coolant, well..., water and there have been several instances of the engine overheating and blowing out a freeze plug wich is a pain to put back

    • @BaguetteWorkshop

    Tu peux nettoyer les injecteurs avec de l'ATF ,c'est de l'huile de boite auto ou direction assistée,c'est très détergent et moins cher que du nettoyant injecteur. Si ça fume,c'est un problème d'alimentation en gasoil qui arrive avec difficulté à la pompe et qui cause un retard d'injection,ou c'est simplement un mauvais calage de pompe à injection. Pour voir si les cylindres sont usés,mets un peu d'huile après un test de compression à sec,si il y a une grosse différence sec /huilé tu le verras,même avec un manomètre aussi peu précis qui fuit. Tu devrais absolument éviter de mettre les mains autour d'un moteur qui tourne,en particulier en tenant un chiffon,à moins de vouloir perdre une main ou un bras. "Sorry for my poor english" haha elle est bonne, c'est pas le pire que j'ai entendu. C'est toi qui tient le drapeau de L'ipev sur la photo ?

    • @BaguetteWorkshop
      @BaguetteWorkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      Salut, merci pour l'astuce de l'atf je ne connaissais pas. Mon problème de fumée a été résolu ce n'était pas un problème d'arrivée de gasoil mais une bourde de ma part ! Je montre ça dans la prochaine partie, j'ai quasiment fini le montage. Oui tu as raison pour les mains, on ne se rend pas compte jusqu'à se qu'on se fasse avoir. Oui mon test aurait été mieux avec un peu d'huile mais là c'est vraiment l'appareil qui a un énorme fuite :( Oui pour la photo, vache tu as trouvé ça où !

  • @seansysig
    @seansysig ปีที่แล้ว

    Compression should be above 33 BAR / 480psi. Pop test of injectors looked ok. Chain case being empty was the tell tale of failed seals. Pressure test coolant system to identify radiator, water jacket, or head gasket issues which can cause smoking. Get the proper size belt and test charging system. FYI if radiator overflow tank was bad I’d check the water pump the next time you run the motor to ensure it is moving coolant throughout the engine. If it continues to smoke and there is a noticeable loss of power new piston rings and valves could restore compression.

  • @jameslopez407
    @jameslopez407 ปีที่แล้ว

    So sorry my guy I would go no more than 3000 US Your looking at an engine rebuilt kit at a minimum . I would send your injectors out for cleaning ,, luckily the engine kit comes with all the things you will need. I have no idea wear you would find the counter weight and I bet it's super expensive. Your pressure test concluded it for me the first cylinder was 15 bar the second was 18 and 20 on the last two. I hope your planning on keeping this unit cause if you plan on a resale. You will never recoup what your going to have to put into it out of it except if it's for your use. One other way to tell you it's your rings and sleeves would be to see how much blow by or smoke comes out while the motor is running and the oil filling cap is off. if you see smoke order the engine rebuilt kit and from the looks of that head gasket in your shop I bet your more than capable of the task. good luck and I'll be waiting for your next video.

    22 bar is roughly 300 psi. It looked like you had about 250 psi on the video which is too low. I think the rings may be worn from poor air filter/dust.

    • @BaguetteWorkshop
      @BaguetteWorkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply! I since found my big smoke issue, runs sweet now. It wasn't a compression issue but rather my fault, i'll show the details in the part 2 coming soon. I think the poor values is mostly due to a leaking gauge. Cheers
