Money & Careers with Chris Wilson
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ก.ค. 2017
Before embarking on my journey into medicine, I was a Sales Trader at Goldman Sachs, and prior to that I was an Army Infantry Officer for over five years.
I make videos based off of my experiences and the experiences of others to help you reflect on your life, your career, and your money. I've learned a lot of lessons from changing careers, navigating life changes, and investing in the stock market, and I hope to share these with you to make your life easier. Hopefully you can avoid some of the mistakes I've made along the way!
New videos every week (at least), so please subscribe!

Good post
My Interview is Thursday this was very helpful!!!!
20 mins into my interview my counselor went silent. I don’t know if she got disconnected or what. I’m making all attempts to contact them and nothing. We didn’t even get to finish. 🤦🏽♂️ Just my Luck i swear.
They are paying for you to become a doctor? They told me they can’t pay for doctorates. Wow, such liars.
Can u tell me what tools do u use ?
I’m a female vet that tried to go into fishery biology after serving and it exacerbated my disabilities from the military to be in a male dominated field again even though I loved the work. Now I’m trying to use vre to be a masseuse which they will also train me in sports and brain injuries. I’m hoping to give back to vets through that. This video helped me understand how to lay out my plan. Thank you so much.
Link is not working 😊
They contacted me right after my med process started, but my counselor told me to give him a call right after i have my no later day .
sometimes you just need to hear that there is hope and it is still possible. thank you
Very helpful, thank you!! I just subscribed.
More lives, maybe once a week, i missed this stream
I don’t have to use my post nine eleven and you can’t make me 😅😂😂
Listen to this guy friends don’t wait until you need them because you will then request a copy from the VA and you will be able to time travel, teleport and then fly to Neptune before you get your hands on a copy of your own military medical records.
Thank you for your help and the video. -Update was Approved! She was very chill, laid back, and no filter. She was very impressed with my knowledge and research. Big veteran advocate. She was even sick and said she didn’t want to let down her veterans appointments. We need more like her in the world!!! Got the approval letter immediately via email. Finalizing the approval with additional documents she needs me to email her.
Veteran, med student and trader at a prestigious company? You got insane Dad Lore
Thanks for this. I just put in my application yesterday. Infantry guys looking to become a history teacher. My only other real option is Law Enforcement, but like you said, that would probably further affect my disabilities. Applying for substitute teaching for all of the schools in the area, so hopefully that helps. Who knows with the VA sometimes though.
I have a call tomorrow. I am trying to move to a licensed social worker that requires degrees and a state license. I already have a masters degree but want a MSW degree
yeah been in the program but seem like they want me drop the Progarm I have master degree in cyber security
Very helpful Chris!!
Thank you, very encouraging!!
Can I add money to my tsp account if I’m already out of the army? I have the app but don’t see anyway to do it except rollovers
If your at 90 percent disability and don’t have a job or degree how do I get approved?
doing my app in the AM wish me luck
What about the Life cycle
Poor returns historically
@Thank you for responding. I have move money between the different funds. Just wondering why that’s not often talked about.
@CCCCCCCCCCCmany it's usually just do to the poor performance. It's a smart fund if you have a very low risk tolerance and get anxiety when the market downturns. But across all of TSP's history, C fund has outperformed in every metric. As you near retirement, it's smarter to tamp down to a more conservative fund
Life cycle is usually what you're put into at least for the military so if anyone you know hasn't logged into their tsp account you should advise them to that way they can allocate their money to the funds the want
You look relatively young and so you can outlast market downturns over a 30 year or more career. The C Fund gives you the best long term gains. There will be ups and downs, but keep contributing and up the amount when you get a raise. The Life Cycle Funds don’t perform very well. Moving money around to try to anticipate what the market will do is a bad idea. Best of Luck.
Voo
Agree
TLDR: a glorified customer services gopher.
If my post 9/11 is expired with 15 months left, Can i still receive BAH?
Do you have to be unemployed for this?
Spy
Thanks for sharing
Theres a guy on youtube (former trader for Goldman, sucden, HSBC) saying that banks trade from the same predetermined price levels over and over again. The majority of trading done by banks is client brokering and only the only speculation occurs at these price levels. He also says prices don't trend, they only range. Are you taught these levels or is this a load of bs? Great video btw.
So I am found eligible. I want to pursue real estate but my counselor is telling me that Commission based employment is subject to market volatility and therefore not necessarily sustainable. What can I say or do?
If you are a pro trader why do you need to work for a company?
How did you get med school with it? I applied and was rejected because I have a 4 year degree... still have my GI/Post 9-11 Help
Apply again
Been an AD/HFC and teacher in Texas for 18 years. I'm currently 90% connected disabled. Physically, I can't do it anymore. The long hours on my feet and body is causing me to have to hang it up. I have a BS degree, but it's in Kinesiology. I'm not even 50 yet, so my mind is sharp but my body needs some rest. I have a meeting next week and have no idea what to say or what I want to do. Obviously, I'm going to need to transition into a career that has a computer in front of me most of the time. I'm fine with that, but I am clueless on what direction to go. Will this lack of direction most likely disqualify me? Thanks for the videos and help!
Very good rebalancing section 👍🏽
Can i use my post 911 and this program?
Very helpful.
Definitely not a fear of failure for me but financially it's not feasible unless I live out of my car
This has been the best "how to" video Thank you! I'm in my 60s and plan to retire soon I'm currently using C/S funds. Since I often change percentages - do you recommend current/future? When you only change for future - what happens to the current funds?
Do you suggest current and future be the same...or doesn't matter
Lol he looks wigged out
I'm 100% P&T but currently working. What are the odds that I can get approved, go to the get reclassified/school while continuing to work to sustain myself and family while in training?
Whaaa the VA not helping Vets? Who would have thought
Was literally coming to say this.
Chris, I routed an important email to you when you're available to review. Thanks! Joe
Thank you for posting and for the valuable advice to be prepared for that initial interview and what should be the expectations. Thank you for your service and for your help to all the veterans!
😂
Prove it
Go to Va.gov and look that the monthly premiums on just a $40k policy. Astronomical.
@@Moneyandcareers that's not proof, that's a qoute
@G2AB21 Did you compare the premiums to private companie and came to a conclusion that VA Insurance is good?
