You can disable the "zoom view" (settings->options 1), to leave just the main view. You can't disable the ability to cycle through the cameras in the 3D scenes - but of course in the panoramic scenes that's the only view, so they force ground-only viewing! On Windows, at least, you could actually go in and DELETE all the 3D sceneries :) Just remove them from C:\Program Files (x86)\PicaSim\SystemSettings\Environment (move them somewhere else so you can recover them). (You might want to leave the Hills one, as that is referenced by the "Glider trainer" scenario, and if it's not there I suspect bad things will happen!)

Never mind, I figured it out. I modified the "Find" button (rather than removing it) to make it see-through and now it is no longer visible to the user. I kept a copy of the original button of course.

@@profrat - Indeed, still clickable. It takes some guessing but if the user is looking for it, they will find it by randomly clicking in the area. My hope is that my students might just accept when I tell them that I removed that option. We will see! If that does not work, I will move the 3d scenes. Thank you for the help!

Sorry - android 14 prevents it from installing - there's no reasonable way to fix that.

Unfortunately, I can't - at least not the Android/iOS versions. It uses a software library that is no longer available and only supports what are now pretty old versions of Android/iOS... (and replacing that software library would involve a massive re-write that wouldn't be fun!)

Hello - there are two problems that conspire with each other: 1. New Android devices are starting to be 64bit only, and 2. I can no longer update the version of PicaSim on Google Play (or iTunes), for technical reasons that are very frustrating! I plan to simply make the apk available on my website, but for now, this should work: drive.google.com/file/d/1aZV6IVvLwjrGf1R_a3Iep8uzjHbIFGRV/view?usp=drive_link (obviously you should never install apks from untrusted sources etc... but this is the only option!)

It sounds like you just need to go through the joystick setup in PicaSim - in particular the "press when left/down" etc buttons for that axis. Sorry it's a bit of a clunky process!

@@lightpolebluelamaa4207 That's a bit weird. Does the "Output" number in that block vary sensibly as you move the stick?

@@lightpolebluelamaa4207 One possibility is that, whilst fighting with the unhelpful PicaSim UI, you might have ended up with second input that is mapped to "Roll stick". The behaviour of PicaSim is that one will "win" (originally it was going to be that they would be combined) - so there's always a danger that your adjustments are getting overwritten by a second input - just scroll down a bit and check.

In the video at about 2:42 : you need to move the stick to the left, then (as you're hold it there) press the "Press when left or down" button. Then move it to the right and press the "Press when right or up" button. This will fix any reversal, and also make sure the movement range maps correctly.

I think you can get away with saying it is! Watching this video again reminds me it's a pretty tough course just to complete.

Sorry - slow reply! Not 100% sure what you mean - could be a couple of different things so: 1. To reverse the air brakes (normally on the "throttle" stick for gliders) there's an option in Options1->Controller Settings. 2. If you've set up a gamepad/controller and the throttle stick movement isn't matching the on-screen indicators, go into settings->joystick and click the "left/down and right/up" buttons, for that axis, with the stick in the appropriate place. 3. You can change the mapping of the throttle stick to the motor channel in the settings->controller (advanced) panels. The thing to remember there is that the stick input is in the range -1 to 1, but the motor is driven with a value between 0 and 1. Hence for the "speed stick" you might want to use scale = 0.5 and trim = 0.5... (not sure if that will make sense!)

Work on the original PicaSim is shelved, yes. Though I've been thinking that I might make an update to the Windows version to add some model planes. Also, Google is (I think) about to pull it from Google Play due to lack of updates, at which point I might make the APK available (with additional planes). I've been thinking about a complete rewrite, using a modern game engine for improved graphics/controller support/networking etc. but that's not started yet...

The code isn't capping the frame rate - are you sure vsync isn't isn't enabled in your gfx settings (assuming windows?)?

@@profrat vsync is off in radeon settings

I added captions so enable them and they may help.
