Hey guys! This video is long overdue but here it is! I recorded this video about a month ago and this laptop rocks for the price I got it for, like I stated in the video it won't replace your main rig but its a great cheap solution to anyone who needs to do productivity based work but doesn't want to fully commit and pony up 1k for a laptop. Setup is a Z Cam M2 M4 with a OG BMPCC x.58 speed booster and some vintage Nikon lenses *BMPCC speedboater doesn't really fit onto the MFT mount because it hits the flange around the sensor area a bit, which is maybe why I couldn't focus to infinity. Ill test this more in the future.

BMMCC Test With Vintage Lenses (4K upscale)
The issue with the USB on the camera side is not necessarily pulling the cable out, but that the connector weakens over time, because it's only held in place by the solder joints. Every unnecessary jiggle has the potential to knock the port off. While it's no where near as common as breaking the micro hdmi port on the original pocket camera, it's still a risk. Personally I always cage clamp either an adapter or a short extension cable to the sides of my blackmagic cages to minimize all stresses to the important camera ports.
@@billyoung9538 Heard! With the right side adapter my solution has been to leave it in there and just not remove it to minimize the risk, I never need to move it unless I'm updating the camera firmware. Also my cage didn't come with the clamps (i got it used) so that's why i don't use them.
Chinese dont have funds?? Are you kidding?
@@Culturelens Z Cam raised ¥10,000,000 between 2 investors in 2017 to help kickstart the E2 line. If you don't know how much money that is, most people make that in a year. Z Cam is still a super small company that a lot of people in the camera space STILL don't know about. They are NOT selling products like hot cakes to be getting unlimited funding for R&D of their products. Not sure why you think just because they're Chinese they have funds when if you actually look at their recent projects it says the opposite. You have to make money to get money.
@@kurencee You must have mixed up the Chinese Yuan & Japanese Yen, as they both use '¥' for currency signs, but the exchange rate is very different. For Chinese RMB ¥10,000,000 , back in 2017 that was about $1.5 million USD. Sure it's not a lot for a making cinema cameras, but considering they were founded in Shenzhen, China--- the home of global tech manufacturing--- that's not bad back in 2017. And Zcam has been doing ok in the professional and industrial market.
It's a shame that Nikon sent a big FU to everyone and never released an adapter with auto focus in it. This 1.8D lens has even some nice microcontrast to it. SMC Takumar f1.4 is my favorite 50mm lens, very nice bokeh wide open. With autofocus it would be the Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX (nothing of the contemporary Art series). But even better would be to prefer to jump to 85mm and there the Zeiss T* f1.4 Planar produces great stuff.
This lens has a horrible grayish haze at lower apertures IMO. The Angeniux lens has different components. Nobody knows exactly what is similar between the two of them, it might be just a roller for one of the lenses, or something like that.
Shhhhhh! You know people don't wanna hear the truth.
The Nikon 28-70 f2.8 D is awesome, also used in the Bourne film was the 80-200 f2.8 d
My A cam since the launch of it has been the S6. I have sold my standard E2 cameras over the last 3 years but the S6 Is golden. I will be buying a 2nd USED unit to have a matching set. I do plan on getting another camera to play with in 2025 but have yet to decide and honestly with the rate of Tech I am in no rush.
@@DanielBasulto I saw an F6 go UNSOLD on eBay for $999, these cameras are really cheap second hand if you're constantly looking. The next camera I'm going to get is most likely an S1H 👌🏾
@@kurencee I just want to get back to having a matching set. I personally hate color grading so anything to avoid extra work.
They are still developing the camera. I wouldn't jump to too many conclusions yet. New things dropping about the camera weekly. Like the built-in Gyro support.
They said they're dropping it in Feb, even though there has been next to no marketing and is also not on the website. The last time they did this they scrapped the camera, so let's see what happens here.
@@kurenceeit’s definitely not being scrapped. It was at NAB this year, and I have had conversations with Kinson himself about the camera. I think they have a lot of good things in the works for this camera
Great video! I'd recommend getting a little bit more into the weeds on the next one for sure! It doesn't have to be much longer!
Thanks! Yeah i recorded this about a month before i posted, since then there's been more info about the release shared in the Facebook group.
Is that promotional video at the beginning for the F6 Pro? I've been trying to find more information on the separate F6 MK II but it's not even listed on Z Cam's own website
@@Drone443 I had to search for it on their Facebook page because I couldn't find info on it anywhere, besides a short TH-cam video showing the camera in-person.
very good video bro, the image is super clean and the background really stands out. Regarding the camera, I think the Blackmagic cameras are a better deal (both The Blackmagic 6K Full Frame and Blackmagic PYXIS 6K)
@@Descifrando_la_economia Thanks! Depending on your work I guess it could go either way. But I would personally get a 6K FF over a E2 F6, unless I knew I was going to do a lot of work in the dark like concerts or parties.

is it better than canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 ?
idk, I never used that lens but I've heard good things about it.
I'm so glad I found this page. I love Nikkor glass. When the Tulip Fever that was the Canon FD craze was peaking I couldn't believe Nikkor ai-s weren't getting the same love.
This the best review I have seen about this lens. He managed to be concise with the info while keeping the energy low key.
Thanks fam
Good work, man! Love the look of the videos and the info!
John Brawley still uses this camera but avoid using any of the current Pocket cameras. That is saying something.
This looks amazing. Any update on where we could buy one or the 3D print file?
Had to sideline the project due to work but i haven't forgot, I'm still using the prototype in my camera and have had no issues the last few months...
Just won the bidding on this lens for €140-shipping included! can't wait to try it out.
Let me know what you think of it!
I like it, totally worth it, that laptop was $1,400 in it's time. Shoot the fact that your video showed it didn't lock up and crack out when you push play and lock up tells me it's worth taking a look at!
@@mediaflmcreation Yes! It's definitely worth taking a look at especially if you're working with smaller lighter files and nothing too heavy.
There are better and worse copies out there, especially after 30 years. The good ones arent hazy at 2.6. Also, can you do your reviews rapping? Best
@@user-jp3vl5jx1j That's true. It depends what you're pointing at, if you're pointing it near a light source at f2.6 it washes the image hard, and that just comes with the territory of an older lens, CA can be really bad too. And thanks! I appreciate it :)
where could I buy one of those LPE6 to NPF adapters?
ebay
the only difference between them is the glass. Angionux makes its own glass like Nikon does, while Tokina has external producers like Canon, Sony etc.
also, my F mount japan version is decently sharp on my 45 mpx z9. It's sharper at 2.8 than my 58 1.4g at 1.4 and i find both to have aceptable sharpness even with 1/8 BMP
@@eldengard23 In some uses i like the lens but in others i hate it. I worked on 3 projects using this lens since this video and they all involved high contrast, bright backlit / sky shooting and the flaring and shift in contrast was very annoying. Great lens for certain work but not all. And i have a 50mm 1.4D and yes my Tokina is sharper at 2.8, but stopping them both down to 2.8 the Nikkor is clearly much better image and contrast wise but that's to be expected.
@@kurenceeim talking about 58 1.4G, much more modern and sharper lens than the 50 af-D 1.4 You either have the gen 2 copy with the added asph. Element for marketing purposes that made it softer but with less ca, or you have a bad gen 1 example since the my gen 1 japan market version is quite sharp on my 45mpx z9
I need it please
You don't need or want HDMI on a professional camera! SDI can support up to 8K resolution while HDMI is limited to 4K. SDI is a locking cable while HDMI is not. SDI cables runs can reach lengths up to 100 meters or 330 feet while HDMI is limited to 50 feet. SDI also supports both dynamic and static metadata. ProRes is not an issue. You can export ProRes from Fusion Studio with the Saver node. Your DaVinci Studio license also works for Fusion Studio for free. Even if the screen flipped out, it would be in the way of a DJI Focus motor. You don't need internal NDs on a professional camera, because you have and want the flexibility to use your own screw-on NDs, a matte box, or ND lens blades like the ones on NiSi Athena Primes. Dan May also said adding internal NDs would have changed the body design and added more cost.
tell em
to a certain point, yes, you can get nice results of it. Sold mine in the end, after several years of sticking to it, got tired of fighting the ubiquitous moire/aliasing. It's main strengths are RAW (even more moire/aliasing though) and the color science, particularly skin tones. But nowadays most of the latest Panasonic/Sony cams render skin tones just fine, with great stabilization, no above mentioned issues, low noise and decent cinematic DOF
This video lmk I know nothing about my camera yet
I can’t seem to find any info on the battery adapter you mentioned, do you have any links ?
Hey! I noticed there aren't many products available anymore, mine wasn't branded but it was just a simple NPF to LP-E6 adapter. Here's a quick link. www.ebay.com/itm/202398362571?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Bp-z_5qhSIG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=qLwGfsD2S3i&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Nice work the images look amazing.
Thanks!!
for 3k, you do Not get a lot, you get an expensive starting point. they took out pro res, hdmi, stereo mic jack .. sensor crops in for other formats..enhancing noise doing this.. so that's why the blackmagic Assist, went on sale.. ... going to need an adjustable monitor..
Welcome to the world of cinema cameras lol........... There are SDI monitors for $200-$300......... it does have a stereo mic jack and headphone jack.... If you want pro res in a box for cheap get a z cam............ Blackmagic rolled out quite a bit of new stuff so prices in general are going to dip......
Love your thoughts on the new camera. I was wondering if you have any updates on where you’re at with the speed booster project?
I've been running around with a prototype in my camera and this video was shot using it, also the lens has a hard vignette because it doesn't cover full frame.
@@kurenceeOh wow! The quality is great. It’s already come a long way compared to the first prototype. There isn’t any noticeable haze or fog and I wouldn’t have even known it was a speed booster if you hadn’t told me.
@@PopTartHeaven Yeah, it varies heavily on what lens I'm using too.

Would this work with a 6k pro?
No, the pro has internal ND filters and this was designed just for the original 6k Pocket.
@@kurencee That sucks. Was one step closer to building a monster.

I know you've graded the video but I like the look, the image of the camera.
Thanks!
Stumbled upon your other video earlier today. This is a very interesting project and I look forwad to seeing the progress.
Appreciate it!
Looking sickkk 🔥😍
Nice project, and great idea; I was wondering if they'd be 3D printed or this is just the prototyping stage ... I look forward to following your progress updates. Do you know yet whether you will release files (at a cost) for 3D printing, or only sell shipped products?
Right now i'm planning on having the final models 3d printed with engineer grade resin, theoretically because this is not going to be exposed on the outside of the camera it doesn't have to be the strongest material, just accurate. I was thinking about selling the STL files but went against it seeing how 1 person can illegally distribute it like wild fire. I've spent a lot of time on this lol. As for timing i'm hoping to have prototype resin prints in 2 months, depending on how well those come out I might just give a few away.

Hello this is blackmagic micro camera gen 1 with 1080p????
What lens do you like on the micro ? Great style of youtube video, chill and helpful
Thanks! I have a Nikkor 17-35 2.8 that lives on this camera, That's what most of the footage in this video was shot with . Sometimes you can find them cheap due to having broken autofocus.
These are prone to fungus I had mine cleaned and it's much better
I do see some of these going for very cheap with fungus inside, and aparently its not too difficult to open it up and clean it.
I got mine from BH photo. They said the elements were clean.. Got it and it was covered in fungus. I took it in to ablecine here in LA they cleaned it up nice. Much sharper at 2.6 I have the 2.6 version..2.8 it's not bad at all.. They gave me a refund of 50 bucks off of $110..I was able to declick it accidentally..
