I am 51 and have been on TH-cam for 16 years. The biggest lesson I learned was that a channel should be planned before you start out and that it’s a grind if you don’t make it fun.

If you come from a position of truth, you’ll always succeed. Those calls to action are usually aimed at children and the gullible.

I think it's about authenticity. Not a set of YT rules.

I guess I honestly mostly comment not because I was asked to, because then I don't have anything to say. I'll comment when the content makes me think of something that I really want to say about what was said in the video. If some portion of a video just feels like it was made just for me, I guess.

I run two other channels, and from my experience, TH-cam typically needs 10-20 similar videos to understand your channel’s theme and start directing the right audience to your content. That’s the first challenge. The second challenge is creating content that resonates with this audience. This involves thorough keyword research and experimenting with thumbnail designs that are most likely to grab attention. I’ve had success by focusing on three things: a strong thumbnail design, a well-researched keyword title, and then creating a video that aligns with both. Without an effective thumbnail, it’s hard to attract viewers, and without strong keyword alignment, it’s difficult for TH-cam to understand and promote your content. Focusing on these elements can make a big difference in reaching the right audience. Hope this helps! Please don’t give up. It’s like a puzzle. Once you figure it out it can be quite transformative.

I’ve been at this a little over 3 years now and I have never liked the idea of “picking a niche”. If I only made videos on one subject I would get bored very quickly. My channel might be bigger if I did that, but I want the freedom to make whatever videos I want. Best of luck to your channel, it seems that TH-cam is pushing this video out to a large audience!

Here's a suggestion, stop looking at yourself and look into the camera lens. When you talk to someone in person, do you not look them in the eye? Well the camera lens is OUR eyes.

There are ways to fast track to 1,000 subs and 4,000 hours. One of them is just simply run ads on your video. I paid about $170 on 1 video in August with a Google ad. It shot me from 300 subs to over 3000 in 10 days. I had like 40 hours watch time on a channel I've had since 2008. The ad pushed me to almost 500 hours, which is an 8th of the required.

Do TH-cam for yourself in the first place. If you don’t enjoy making video’s you burn out.

I recently started you tube. Have 6 subscribers. Posting and no one watches is disheartening. Bt will keep going. At least I know I want to talk about spirituality and psychology.

Subscribed. We fall in the same bucket. I'm not a fan of following trends because I feel my content is so unique. As a side note, my best friend does videos on farmhouses...and he hates it

The first point you made is exactly the reason i want to start a channel. I want to learn to speak confidenly without anxiety. Am added benefit is that yes I'm an introvert but i do ride motorcycles cross country so the audience has something to see while i use this for communication. I dont really care about the money

It’s hard especially as a middle aged woman. We are not as computer savvy and as the younger generation. I know how you feel it’s sad for those of us that are trying to make extra money more so as we are headed towards retirement 🙏🏻🤍🥺

I've been doing TH-cam for over 10 years and am still not able to monetize and I've invested a lot of money into it over the years. I posted consistently for the first 7 years, but then I burned out and I was tired of the roller coaster of emotions over it, so I stepped back from it for a while and only posted when I wanted to and had something to post. I am posting more often now, but more careful not to pay so much attention to the numbers and just doing what I want to do and enjoy doing it and if people watch great, if not then so be it. Either way I am being my creative self, sharing what I am creating and enjoying it.

YT is a long game and it has potential to lead into so many positive avenues for revenue. At this point, I have a job and there's no way I can stay up till 2am to try and improve my channel. However, I more often than not, will be researching how I can improve my channel instead of endlessly scrolling or watching tv 🙌

I don't depend on trends, and don't just do them because everyone else is, IF i truly don't love it However, i do what i want, and if it's fun, if i love it, then i do it I don't niche, my channel is about me, whatever i love, BUT, I also find things I'm deeply passionate about that ARE popular to talk about too... But they must be things that really move me on some level or I connect with. Also, for shorts, trending sounds, music, very popular, you almost HAVE to use some, it's all people want to hear and see it seems,.. And I'm so many ways, i can't stand this, because i want to use songs I REALLY love,.. so sometimes I'll do 2 versions of a short,.. I'll do ONE with trending songs/ sounds, but it has to also be one i love, and THEN , ill do a version of that short choosing music i really want,. Lol, like old 80s stuff etc, but honestly, those dont get as many views, people don't watch as much as they do shorts with trending songs. For a long time, i didn't jump on it either, but shorts CAN increase your views and subs,! I got 73 subs off just one short,... Had a trending song, BUT it was my creation, editing, and huge passion for the subject, ... Whereas, some other shorts with non trending music, crickets ... Just depends. It doesn't change me doing my regular content, i don't do them all the time,.. my long form is the deeper stuff for sure. I use shorts for fun, and yeah, if i want to try a trend, and i use them to drive views, & traffic to my long form stuff... Yeah, it really does suck that it's hard to get reach off you don't do trends or talk about trending topics,.. but I'm a firm believer in doing my own thing,... So, i mix in some of both. 😊

This video inspired me to talk more about my channel/ why i don't niche & my TH-cam story, ( even though i covered it in a live stream 2 weeks ago too) But running across you yesterday, reinspired me to talk about it again, things i didn't cover before because you're SURE right about it NOT changing life over night, .. and being HARD work, commitment, and needing to have passion for it when there's..... crickets but it WILL grow.& Eventually be monetized. Mine did, but I'm still working hard Trust, i feel you on ropes end. I'm 48, partner died last year, im stuck living with my mother in a tiny room, car got repossessed, lost my job, ... And half the time feel nothing but despair... But i keep that light, & faith. 😊 Just keep talking! You got this. I mentioned you in my video for anyone who comes across it, and dropped a link back to your video in my description. I always lift up other creators big or small , where i might get inspiration, even if i dont mention them in my title. 😊🦋

I restarted TH-cam after seeing those videos saying that there was a big market now for the over 40, over 50 creators and wanting to debunk them by proving how difficult it actually is. This video did well and I think your new niche could be debunking the false promises of these TH-camrs. I subbed to you because you’re telling the truth. Keep going.
