    I just finished my first batch ,.. 36 hr fermentation process in the instant pot on the yogurt setting and set my glass jar on top of a silicone pad. Sadly, my yogurt looks a bit curdled. Normal? Tastes like cottage cheese! Lol I may invest in a temp controlled yogurt maker to avoid this in the future. Any other suggestions?

    • @WholeShenanigans
      @WholeShenanigans 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Here are the things I would check: make sure you're using the right temp for the strains in whichever starter you're using, use whole milk or half and half (lower fat milk will give you thinner yogurt), and check to make sure the amount of inulin you're using is the right proportion for the quantity of milk you're using (i.e., you would use 4 Tbsp for 1/2 gallon of milk).

    I have a concern that L. Gasseri and L. Coagulans will overpower L.reuteri and in the end there is little to non L.reuteri left in the yoghurt. Are there studies or lab tests that confirm you can mix all 3 and get a balanced yoghurt?

    • @WholeShenanigans
      @WholeShenanigans 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question. I haven't seen any data from lab tests, although Dr Davis refers to his testing and discusses how much the yogurt multiplies the bacterial counts. You could try digging deeper on his' website/blog . You can make yogurt with solely L. reuteri, however, if you want. I also read recently in a blog post by one of his associates that they may be less inclined to use B coagulans now anyway due to "squirrely" fermentation results (pretty vague but that was the comment).

      Different strains prefer different temps. So if you're fermenting L gasseri alone you would want to shoot for 109°F/43°C according to Dr. Davis' recipes. See this link to follow his guidelines in more detail. Also, check your ratios. Your sugar for example, should be 1 Tbsp for 383g of coconut milk. innercircle.drdavisinfinitehealth.com/probiotic_yogurt_recipes

    I like this lady but no sadly corn is in no way a healthy food. wish it wasn’t true. almost every holistic dr can explain the science. You can get away with it while young but will eventually get insulin resistance out of it. research dr lustig or bickman or Schneider etc

    I'm very excited to make this! Do you think Fairlife brand whole milk would be okay to use? It's ultra filtered and pasteurized. Fairlife is less sugar and lactose free. It's what we use everyday here anyway. But I don't know if it would be okay to make this sibo yogurt. Thank you!

      I think Fairlife whole milk would work fine. I know it works well for other yogurt, so would assume it would work well with this, even with the prolonged fermentation time. If you end up using another milk, however, know the lactose content of your yogurt will be minimal to none anyway, given the prolonged fermentation. Let me know how it turns out!

    hey thanks for sharing this recipe! Curious do you put the lid on the mason jar before you put it in the insta pot? or leave it open?

    Really appreciate your video. Great information presented clearly. Just wish the pop sounds were not present when you put text on the screen. That gets obnoxious.

    Can this be made with room temperature fermentation? Without out a yogurt maker?

    • @WholeShenanigans
      @WholeShenanigans 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You could try, but I'm not sure how active the bacteria will be. Room temp will be lower than what is optimal for these strains, so you might get a really runny yogurt, if anything. Report back if you try it!

    Bravo! 👏 Excellent Information! Well researched and explained plus the alternatives are a added bonus. Nicely Done Indeed! ... How is it acceptable for the food industry to not have to list and disclose certain ingredients in their products? The FDA and other food regulatory agencies are irresponsible (or worse) and definitely not acting in the consumers best interest!
