This is a very unusual looking turntable, can any type of replacement cartridge be used on this type of turntable because looking at the headshell it looks like only certain types could be fitted?

Lovely player, have a mk2 myself replaced all 4 belts bought from eBay but yours look a better quality , i replaced belts on my Denon DCD1500 mk2 and they were blue in colour and good quality, i will see how long these belts last on my 94 mk2..........

Have 6 Empire Turntables 3 598 one type one and 2 types two and a mint 1965 gold 398 no 2 silver ones with replacement high end tone arms blemishes and 15 others duals 1229 and a new in box CS5000 a beautiful machine sat in a cabinet since I bought it new for 500 80's sat in a cabinet not used recently had to replace fraco caps the arm it is a beauty have 100,000 records and a hoard of VEE JAY 45's with full covers that were supposed to be destroyed that is another story Beatles

Couldn't bear getting rid of my 70s era turntable and spent $850 on a refurb. Works like new.

Better get the stylus checked. High distortion.

What a beautiful motor! It runs smooth as silk. I'll bet it is heavy as hell. I have a 1/2 hp version of this, it looks identical except it is shorter and has a single brush set. It is 6-pole 1200 rpm like yours. I completely restored it, but it ran perfect before the restore which included taking the rotor to a large motor shop where they turned the commutator. It is featured in a few youtube videos. It weighs over 100lbs. All these motors have a wonderful sound, loud magnetic whining combined with the sawtooth sound of the brushes.

Nice demo! Do you know how to change the chuck spindle belt on these? I removed the spindle assembly but I don't see how to get the belt through the base. Thanks
