Searching For The Wild Horses Of The Chilcotin
Such an awesome car. Scary but awesome
I like the color choice. The truck definitely needed to be done up to match the cargo. There's lots that could be done. Thi could keep you busy for years.
Just itches to work on your pontiac eh? Lol. You definitely had the passion for it early on. I remember reading in your yearbook from grade three that you wanted to do autobody when you grow up. It would be great to see these cars live on.
That will haul my plane nicely ....
Would look good on the back
What size is your shop?
@daubie3 40×60 with a 16x60 leantoo on the side
@dans_rodsnkustoms Thanks. I thought it might be because mine is 30x54 with 2 12' side load doors. I'm 63 and I love to see you young guys keepen the hobby alive. Your rides are very nice...
@daubie3 Awesome! thanks for watching
The front bumper is the best part.
Was that a bag of groceries?...... Is this what detectives call a grocery getter? Fantastic job! What are you working on next?

Your giving me inspiration to finish my chopped 54 Chevy, Great video. Love your Pontiac, it's coming out great!
УУУУФФФФ
Cool
Put dome half inch spacers on solve your probs also make it look better as not the headers are outside the wheels doesn't look good
Price a gallon of high quality auto paint!
You were born in the wrong generation. You are having way too much real fun. That chop job you did is exceptional. No filler in it yet and it almost doesn’t look modified. There’s not many your age that just go ahead and tackle something like that and have the patience to finish it to perfection. Such a shame this has been lost in younger generations. We need more shakers and movers and less helicopter kids.
just like real estate, the older generation have vastly overvalued their mediocre possessions and surprise surprise no ones buying..
thats over with ..we had a low rider show and it was empty ..kids like technology and Horse power
I have 2 old Camaros that are mint. My sons could care less, they said if I leave them to them they are for sale. They are not into cars (or motorcycles) and none of their friends are. Most of them are of driving age and they don't even care about going to get their drivers licences. It's weird, when I turned 16 I got my licence that day. Oh well, what can you do?
that's also a good point ..
Excellent decision to create this video, Dan! Thanks!! As a man in his mid-60's, I too have thought a lot about this very reality. My opinion? >The T-buckets - Sad to say they're virtually worthless. Their popularity began to fade in the early Aughts of the new Millennium. > 1920s? You're right. They're sitting in garages of surviving members who inherited. They'll likely sell for <Half their investment to restore/build. > The '30s/'40s? I remember the awesomeness of '40 Ford Coupes, Willys, Anglias. Value is sadly quickly trending downward. While there's still an appeal, it's their VALUE that's dropping, meaning the cost to BUILD is higher than the SELLING price on the street. > Classics of the '50s? There's a resurgence of several 1950s classics within the Hispanic culture of cruisin'. But the $$$$ they're putting into them will never, ever be recouped. Sadly, the mass appeal of the 1950s that was spawned from the many movies of the 1960s & 1970s ("American Graffiti" and others) has been replaced with the Jap cars of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. > Classic Muscle Cars of the 1960s - Again, you're correct! Plenty of interest in the mid-late 1960s and early '70s, 2-Door models ONLY, thereby commanding big $$ mostly because their raw HP from their big ol' Detroit V-8s, distinctive styling and awesome factory paint colors. Auction houses like Barrett-Jack and Mecum are keeping these prices inflated beyond plausibility doesn't hurt. > Trucks - This is one category that definitely maintains cross-generational appeal. I've personally lived this. I sold my 2-door '1955 Chevy Wagon, w/ 355c.i., custom vinyl interior in 2013 for under $20K....plus my 1955 2-dr "post" with dual-quad 409 for mid-$30s. What did I do? I took a sliver of proceeds and bought a dry, derelict 1965 Chevy C10 Shortbed Fleetside from AZ. Now that it's finished, it's value is in the mid-to-high $30s, and every generation of enthusiasts come up to me and compliment it. My other classic? A Bondo-free, 1968 Chevy El Camino (a sort-of-truck) in Sequoia Green...with a bitchin' 327 and factory, original buckets/center console.
i see sometime in the future people putting tesla electric motors and battery packs in the old cars from 1946 to 1975 models they have all kinds of room in them for batteries = 0-60 mph in the 3-5 second range
I’m the same as you we just have to try to pass the interest down to the younger ones they will enjoy it as well
The manufacturers themselves killed the hot rod car starting in 1973 (emissions)and that lasted thru the mid 90's... I think it was not until the 90's that MFG's were actually producing some cars that were collectable! I have today a 1999 Mustang Cobra and my only muscle car previously was a 1968 Charger 383/4-speed that i had purchaed in 1977 for a $1000 :) ....that is a big gap!
Not everyone was born with a silver spoon with daddy's money alot of people are real hottest it's a passion it's what we do and has inspired people around the world
yep I just want a car that gets me to work and nothing more
If you didn't restore/hop up a hot rod/motorcycle with your own hands and tools and ZERO MONEY then you are a fake, a poser and I don't care about your problems.
We are at a point now where new cars are not sustainable electronically, with major mechanical components not rebuildable. The only automotive machine shop in my town just closed.
A local retirement community just had a car show here in Maryland. Tours of the facilities were offered to participants.
Same with custom motorcycles. Passe'.
Exactly and the insane prices for project cars really hurts the next group of car guys can't afford to get into them! Outta sight Outta mind so rod them so you can drive them!
As a guy in his late 50s it's sad to see things changing . I remember these 50s cars going fot lot$$$ of moneg! I think some guys older than me could have been bit better with sharing these cars- especially the restorers. I look forward to getting a deal on one of these 50s cars! I think they'll be around for awhile.
Ya Ive thought the same thing.. I just turned 60 myself and i have a 76 Corvette and a 1953 MG TD is anybody going to want these in furure years? Restomod? LS swap, EV conversion? where does the future lie? Im glad to see you guys like you with this interest! Cheers!
REALISTICALLY ,with todays economy and yesterdays starting in 1993 I NOTICED a trend, upward spiral of prices for junk parts, which made all the guys i knew who were resto guys, taking old parts and rebuilding them, sending them out to old guys who had machine shops restoring parts was the norm,i used a water pump rebuilding service in dallas to rebuild the 1955 331 hemi water pump i had, they did it flawlessly, for 40 dollars,i called the guy,you serious,he said man, you'll come back,i said you are right,i sent over the next 10 years over 15 pumps to be rebuilt, all very valuable cores, you just can't throw them cores away, there ain't gonna be any more, the cars i kept for myself,my convertibles,my hemi's all of my toys go to my son,he even bought containers to put them in,rain hail storms,no problem,we just drive them in,no theft either,as for who will buy them, those who have the money to buy a running hot rod,THEN YOU TINKER WITH IT,RUNNERS ARE DIFFERENT THAN COMPLETE RESTORATIONS,MOST NEVER GET DONE,I LIKE YOUR SPARKLERS,NICE CHOICES,treat em right, and burn rubber they were designed to be driven HARD
I've got a 49 Chevy pickup, a 57 Bel Air and a 67 Camaro. They are not replaceable. They're going to my niece. I'm 71, but I have to set things up so she understands they aren't junk.
I can listen to this all day!
Yeah Baby ! That's the stuff !
Yeah Baby ! That's the stuff !
The main problem/issue/reason is the cost to get any work done on an old car has hugely increased in the last 10 years, EVERYTHING from body work to mechanical work to trim is 5 to 10 times more expensive now in 2024 than 10 years ago. Parts are also much harder to get and the quality is often poor unless you buy new old stock. It's looking pretty grim for the cars.
Yes the quality of aftermarket parts has become a joke in lots of cases
@@dans_rodsnkustoms Like, you can't trust a comp cam anymore? come on...

stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sell em and have your brother in law tig up a whole set the way you need em...beautiful car. Dragster Borlas would be interesting prolly loosing 30hp without a collector.
Some wheel spacers might temporarily give you more turning radius. Sweet car.
NO!
Wait a minute! You mean I watched this whole video about new zoomie headers, and you didn't fire up the engine? Lol
Sorry I will have to do a start up video
Yea me to.
