3D Print Multiple Objects in Different Colors with Only 4 Color Changes
Welcome to my latest 3D printing tutorial! In this video, I'll show you an innovative method to 3D print multiple objects in different colors using only 4 color changes. 🌈✨
If you've ever struggled with frequent color changes and lengthy print times, this video is for you. I'll guide you through the process step-by-step, ensuring you can efficiently produce vibrant, high-quality prints with minimal hassle.
Why This Method Works:
Instead of changing colors on each layer, my approach prints all objects in one color first before switching to the next, saving you time and effort. This method works with or without an AMS (Automatic Material Switching) system.

Браво Дани, супер полезно!
Ехаа, страхотно е да видя коментар на Български. Благодаря!
Is it different in 2013 version?
ScanTo3D is not available before 2018 as version. And a lot of what I show probably is not existing in a version from 11 years ago. SOLIDWORKS is adding improvements every year.
So i can't do or is there another mode/function to do that? because is a 2013 version it is impossible in that way, is tgere another way?
If your SolidWorks is 2013 you cannot use this, it's not available. In 2013 version there was not a decent way available to work with STL, you need other software to convert to STEP or something similar.
@@DWorkshop can you suggest me some other free and good software to convert stl in step, so incan modify it in my old version?
Unfortunately I can't.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
how you move around like that?
I use 3DCONNEXION Space Mouse, you can check more about them in this video th-cam.com/video/IhnS4qyEPUc/w-d-xo.html
Thank you. Amazing.
Thanks for the interesting story.
Dear Madam, thank you for sharing your knowledge. 👏
Can you explain what you mean by sharing images? Do you mean the image I have used for the video? It was just randomm image I found in internet, I think is this one www.pngegg.com/en/png-wgubq
@@DWorkshop Thank you. That's what I meant.
Thank you. Useful knowledge.👍
Glad it was helpful!
Perfectly. Thank you.
You're welcome!
excellent video, would you have any such videos explaining how the part model was created?
Never tough about it, but if you are interested I suppose others will be too, so why not. Thank you for your comment!
@@DWorkshop please show how to make the HyperX Quadcast mic parts please.
You can simply Ctrl C + Ctrl V on the design table rather than wasting time with the formulas.
Sure you can do it manually, but if you have many configurations to update is much easier when you use formula instead. Also with manual work you can make errors, because it's not simply copy and paste, you should change values for the parent.
Very good video. Thank you for sharing. By the way, can you move objects to layers on the design side and Solidworks? Or is the layer function reserved only for the drawing section? Thanks!
Thank you for watching. In SolidWorks, layers are for drawings only. If you want to save to DXF from a model or drawing and need layers, then you should use mapping. However, even so, layers will be applied based on certain criteria, and you cannot set them individually.
@@DWorkshop thank you again. Have a wonderful day! Please keep up the great content.
thanks !
Welcome!
Excellent video! Did not know about these options.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, stay healthy.
I need a cswp voucher. After much preparation i failed seg1&2 😢😢😢 Exchange rates of US dollar to Nigerian Naira is x 3 😢😢 I can't afford to dump over 12 months of preparation and i can't afford to pay another money at the moment
I'm really sorry you failed, did you take a note of your weak areas to improve? Also you have a waiting period, you cannot try for some time. I would also advise you to check my CSWP preparation videos. As for the vouchers, sometimes in SWUG they give vouchers to some users, there are occasions that SolidWorks also releases free vouchers for certain exams, just monitor SW socila media and good luck next time.
Sorry but i not have "Scan To 3D Mesh Files........" but only "Mesh Files...." Why this? I have solidworks 2022 sp5, and have activated ScanTo3D, i not understand, u can help me?
Which SOLIDWORKS you have as package Standard, Professional or Premium? ScanTo3D is not available in Standard. If you have the one of other two and still cannot see the correct import option after following all the steps in the video, probably it is a bug and I cannot help, you'll need the support for that.
ooppps sorry.. i have premium version and I noticed that the function is listed with a different name than the one you show in your video, mine is "File mesh ScanTo3D"I realized this late, sorry and thanks for the video
@@DWorkshop Ok with a regular surface such as a sphere is fine, but on irregular objects such as statues, masks, vases, car or motorcycle models, and similar how do you proceed? I tried with stl files of masks but I couldn't transform them in the right way. Is it possible with such objects? Would that be an idea for the next video?
There is whole series, just have a look 😉 th-cam.com/play/PLdfEJ9NcD36TGUlGpZh8KHKjJRnK_sZ9k.html
hey, schön gemacht, danke dir

Hey, in surface wizard, when selecting the faces how do you hide them?!
When a face is converted it disappears, but you can see about hiding and showing surfaces in more details in this video th-cam.com/video/rh2cudh6wZg/w-d-xo.html
Die ist sher klug. Danke
Vielen dank 😊
Hi, I would like to send a sample file that was saved as an STL from Blender. Can you do a video to show the process on extracting the surface
Hi @SandeepSingh-43 probably you would like to check all of the videos that I have about STL/Mesh. You can find them collected in a playlist here: th-cam.com/play/PLdfEJ9NcD36TGUlGpZh8KHKjJRnK_sZ9k.html
merci beaucoup
That was exactly what I was looking for. Thankyou!
Great!
thaks for hrlping
It seems like the work process of Geomagic Design X, which is quite cumbersome as well. It would be great if there were AI tools related to reverse feature modeling that could emerge😂
I hope there will be some sooner. 😊 Anyway, I'm happy even for these ones because ten years ago, importing STL in SW was an extremely hard and sometimes impossible process.
I tried to make per your recommendation no luck would you be willing to take my model and generate the model for me will compensate your efforts
Hi, please find me in LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/danutep?
Thankyou. You go straignt to the point & thats helpful😊
You’re welcome 😊
What method did you use to bend the strings outward?
Just hot air.
HOW DO YOU GET TO MOVE EXTRUSION LINE TO FORM TRIANGLE
Add draft angle.
@@DWorkshop version 2024 does not allow to use draft in extrude cut any suggestions
Version 2024 is the one used in the video. However if it's not allowing you to make the cut you probably have a 0 thickness forming somewhre, try to move the outer line further away. Other reason is your draft angle is too big or cut too shallow, try to change these values.
Hello, Thank you, your video was very helpful! But when I open my STL file, the mesh preparation assistant does not activate. Do you know why this might be happening? Thank you in advance for your help :)
Hi, you should open as ScanTo3D file. Also it's not available with SolidWorks Standard. You can check also this videoth-cam.com/video/rh2cudh6wZg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZSK0W7ZkPXCiZ8T2
That's a good feature to know about. I would love to see this applied to a more complicated model, maybe something randomly grabbed off one of the maker websites. A sphere seems like it would be the best/simplest case.
Hi Brandon, I have done videos with more complex models. You can find them in this playlist Modeling with Design Intent: th-cam.com/play/PLdfEJ9NcD36SCU3aR6ZDiNDcDszGUjG98.html
Is it possible to convert only one face instead of the entire body for more complex conversions
Yes it is, you can check in this video th-cam.com/video/D2Elk7Eu6K4/w-d-xo.html
Could you please provide me with the parts needed for this assembly? I have already finished my free sample-test and I cannot access it and I did not get to this question within the 90 min time limit that is why I do not have the parts for the assembly.
If you follow the link in the description of the video it will take you to the official page of the exam where you can download the sample exam as pdf and the files. Herebis direct link tovdownload them www.solidworks.com/sites/default/files/cswasampleexam.zip
Very good
Thanks
lot of problem with toy gun stl file, can you upload new tutorial video with Toy Gun ?
A lot of free STL files have errors. You may try with other model first.
@@DWorkshop Can you check my STL file?how can i sent you my STL file?
Thanks. Gives me an opportunity to practice for a revolve feature. I must gurse its rare they give you a revolve feature in the exam. I only got a month now to be ready for the exam. Your tutorials are definitely helpful. Thanks 😊
Just an update I sat for my CSWP and passed last week. Your videos were definitely helpful. But as I gursed it wasn't a revolve feature in segment 1. I must say your segment 2 and 3 tutorials were most helpful for me. Dint practice much for segment 2 & just followed your video.! Thankyou 😊
Very useful, my only request is to dot it a bit slower when you reach for certain tools and options. These practices and steps which are obvious for you may be completely new to your viewers. Just give our eyes a few seconds more to cope with your cursor. Thank you!
Thank you, I'll try to be slower.
Good info, but wow you went fast!!
You can slow the video speed, sorry about this. I'm trying to keep the speed balanced, but sometimes I'm just fast
Thank you
You're welcome
Impressive ❤✔
I appreciate your support, it means a lot to me.
Wow. Thank you!!! Very hakpful and very easy to start working wit STLs.
Glad you like it!

What could be the part I am missing , I keep on getting a different mass , I even tried following these steps too but still. My mass is around 930-960😪
First check if your material and its density are correct. Then have a look on your sketch: 1. Is it fully defined? 2. Check if dimensions and relations are to the correct places. Also please share what is your volume.

@@DWorkshop Will do
Don’t forget Love thy neighbour
Hi, the facet reduction numbers you inputted, how did you come about that? can I use the same values for all graphic models?
Hi @timileyinariyo1656, I wouldn't recoomend using the same values everywhere. Better start with small steps of reduction and observe the model. The moment you are happy with the reduction without changing the model geometry is your number. Another reason to go on small steps is that if you try to reduce with too much on complex geometry your computer may have trouble to calculate the change. I hope this helps 😉
Thank you for the info, I'm 2years late :(
I'm so sorry. But there are still some ways left to have a free exam: student and subscribtion, unfortunately Virtual 3DXW was stopped. Sometimes there are free exam vouchers shared on different campaigns.
You're a lifesaver! Importing the image as a DXF file works amazing! I was struggling with tracing a PNG file in Solidworks.
I know that feeling, because I've been through this struggle too. That's why I felt obligated to share this trick and I'm happy it helped you 😊
