    I love the look of the board. The fact that it’s made from 100% recycled plastic is also a good selling point. However I wonder why you did not once show the bottom side of the board. On your website there are also only pictures from the top or from the side. This leads me to the conclusion, that your board most likely has no 3D-bottom but a flat one instead. This would make it a very very pricey (285,-$) plastic version of the cheap entry level Snurfers like the Burton Throwback. Kind of disappointing because with a plastic construction the 3D-molding should be way easier to achieve than with the complex fiberglass-wood-construction of regular PowSurfers.

    How are these better or more versatile than a standard snowshoe? Seems a binding designed to fit a snowshoe would be far more effective and wouldn’t require finding spots where someone else has already been?!!!

  • @brianbirc
    @brianbirc ปีที่แล้ว

    IFF i wanted to do that I would use cross country skies. I f I am hiking back country use snow shoes the aluminum tubes with material and cross strong laces if needed for a bigger size in deeper pow up the backside thats not as steep but can have a part bunder your feet for any icy spots hiking.make a little frame with pads to put the snow shoes If you want a better solution to this getting worn out before you ride you need to take turns on a snowmobile if you have a good one and a nice trail or road not plowed that works you could probably pull a sled kid of trailer to carry people on . There was a place I remember that was or is still great not as long as I would pre fer but way steep on spots and some bumpy area it had not to bad but not sure it is alowed. One person would have to go back to the bottom to pick up the boarders at the bottom not to bad with a group to take one turn driving up and picking up them when they get down to you good walkie talkie radios work great for this see the driver down below give directions if needed and know wher you need to go to get to where the pickup vehicle is. The nbest way I have boiarded deep powder besides getting a way to ride the lifts for free do not bother asking. Its not cheap but is fun we did it in canada went to aWHISTLER blackholm Canada for a week two big mountains and fancy hotels but we got a condo for our group close enough to the runs a small walk across the street one day on the helicopter was bottomless powder we chose the espert class and after landing we were talked too saying they did not have to save our life from the waiver we sighned it is dangerous the guid had burried his depth pole to his shoulder including his arm as well. We decided to go anyway and we did although it was deep and fresh it was not so great just following tracks to get down not the powder on good slopes with the consistency to ride up onthe top and carve turns like it feels just like your favorite surf board . We got down and he was exited thout and said we were much better than he expected he took us off a 60 foot cliff it was fun but a little scary not the size of it that was a nice size drop but good thing I followed his tracks like he said I needed the little bit of speed i could get to get past obsticals in the air comming off the rock not passing them by much and the landing if I saw it before I would not have gone I stuck it ok with no pain I did not complain but what I would choose is a landing with a steeper slope to land smooth and continue down carving the pow DER SNOW.

    We cut up some old snowboards to make split boards. They were heavy and terrible to ride. Then cut them up futher to make something similar to what you see in this clip but approx 90cm long. Works great and can also ski down short sections and glide across flats. So much faster than snowshoes.

    I can't understand how people can think that splitboards are "incredibly expensive" when day ticket prices go up to 250$. 4 days of skiing and there's your splitboard. Cool, but how are these better than something like a pair of snowshoes, or those skis with the integrated skins like the Altai Hoks? Besides being made of recycled materials, is there any advantage? There are lots of snowshoes practically new and practically free on the used market.

    • @thebackcountryswell
      @thebackcountryswell ปีที่แล้ว

      The skins are integrated like the product you mentioned! This allows approach skis to be used in an established skin track when hiking up. Since our approach skis are much smaller than the Hoks, they easily fit in your bag so you can snowboard down with ease. Snowshoes do not fit in established skin tracks which makes them difficult to use on extended tours. Since they do not have a skin on the bottom, they tend to destroy skin tracks for others. Hope that helps!
