Making and Installing Buried Pipe Irrigation
Excellent video. I made wicking beds out of old fridges and freezers (24 of them) as our soil here is rubbish and full of huge rocks so very difficult to grow veggies in ground. Your tutorial is very clear, informative and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing how to do this :)
good
This is such a great system and video. I've just made x12 today. Thanks for all your advice and short cuts re caps and index marker ! 👏👍
Thank you, I've been using alternative methods to cook, so this was helpful to see how others do it. I use an old camping cooler instead of the the Styrofoam coolers, but I do line with Styrofoam left over from packages for better insulation. I wrap my pot with wool blankets, works really well. Subscribed 😊
Ingenious!
Thanks i made this it works with sweet red wine as bait.
Couldn't you avoid all of the steps until the first 3 1/2 minutes just by paying attention to your pot? We are retired and have opportunity to monitor daily. Also, the 90-degree angle on the joints is wrong, they prefer a 45-degree slope. Not trying to be an ass because I just stumbled across this. I thank you for caring about this creature of God that is so vulnerable.
Love it 😊
Can the liquid drained from a bokashi bin be used to inoculate, start, or increase the bacteria in shedded newspape, or say bran, as per your method, instead of newly purchased inoculate ?. Thank you.
Just found your video" how to make a wonderbag" online. They are really expensive so im going to give it a go myself following your vid. I live off grid and any way to live simply and cheaply is welcome. Now subscribed to your channel. Can see a lot of useful stuff on here. I look forwards to watching them and learning a few things. Thanks.
what a clever idea if you want to raise seedlings in a nursery like this.
what if you put rocks in the pipe to stop crap and animals for getting in?
Really terrific watching. Thank you.
Thank you.. really good video.. I’m certainly going to have a go at making newspaper pots for my tomatoes..💚
Excellent greenhouse but found camera view of details, not clearly visible( too low to bottom of the screen and a bit fast in going from one detail to the next. Overall, a great method but for a beginner I found some steps had to be replayed to follow along. Love your videos!❤
Interesting, though I would suggest the test is done before planting rather than just after storage/collection unless you’d plan to go out and try and collect some more. 3:16 made me cringe - getting seeds wet (wet hands) and then putting them back into the packet. 😮
Why would you have to run the pipe that deep when the roots aren’t that deep in the ground?
This is one of the most thorough and easy to follow video on DIY Bokashi Containers. Thank you so much!
How do you feed those tomatoes? That seems like very little soil.
Cool idea! One concern: I just watched a professional survival video about shining sunlight through water to start a campfire! I would have that concern if your glass bottle would receive direct sunlight that could shine on dry vegetation during any part of the day. …Sorry, just wanted to mention -in case. Happy Froggies!
Perfect! Answered all my questions from 1.0.
Does it matter if the seedlings on the sand require different amounts of water? Or do you suggest you use as similar as possible on the same tray?
Wow what a simple idea thank you.
Good day, great idea. How would you winterize the pipe?? Is it safe ro leave an empty tube in the ground, wouldn't it freeze and break? Ty
Cannot find that sized pot anywhere.
Hi, what kit do you use in this video? I'm in New Zealand and just want to test the soil in my back yard
Amazing video sir. Just a question, here in NT we have snakes migrating during buildup looking for water, how can we deter them to not eat the green tree frogs? Especially we have a lot of cane toads here that these snakes learn to avoid
Thank you for making this so easy to understand how to make it and nothing complicated
Great job, does it need a small hole in the top of the plastic container to stop suction?
Hi Nev, just wondering does the jar keep the paper damp? Should we redamp if it dries out before all the seeds germinate? Also should the jar be kept in the light or dark?
So I watched the whole playlist and loved it. Thanks so much. I’m thinking that the ollas are the best options since they’re so responsive to the soil/plant’s needs.. but connecting them to a reservoir would be great too. I’m going to do a pottery course soon and was thinking about a network of them connected to a reservoir would be perfect in a greenhouse to make watering easy and responsive. Thanks! ❤
Thanks for this so helpful
What kind of plastic can i use?
th-cam.com/video/DbpdmOgVPAI/w-d-xo.html 🌹🌹
Thank you. I'm going through the videos slowly, but do you have a resource to share about using the boxes for wicking beds please?
A reservoir would be a logical next step to watering the root system. Using "gray" water to practice conservation also seems appealing to me. I wonder if the reservoir would be so top heavy when completely filled with water that it might tilt to one side and eventually crack the fitting at the bottom. Have you modified your system at all to accommodate for this possibility?
This helps for my school assignment.
Ohhhh this makes so much sense!! Thank you so much
Im planting trees in holes about 1.5 ft deep. So this length of pipe would only be up to ground level! So I have to have about another 4 ft of length so that I dont have to squat down to add water. And maybe I would do better to have only a couple of holes at very bottom. Or why not no holes at all since the bottom of the pipe is a 2inch wide hole already?
Is he saying 15 or 50 mm? I cant tell.
Why not put a long pipe so you can stand up and water plus put more water in roots.
Thank you for this clearly explained and simply executed method.
My pleasure! I am glad that you found it to be of use!
One of the best vids I’ve seen, just watched about 6 in a row before yours!
Thank you!!!!
I use 2.5" or up to 4" pvc, three to four feet deep. I cover the top with some screen from a screendoor. I water regularily. My trees grew tap roots over 4 feet deep and into the pvc pipe. Explosive growth. Between the top and the bottom of the pipe, is a nutrient stack of top soil, leaves, grass clippings, mushroom compost, and a little 12-12-12.
Did you drill holes along the length of the PVC?
@Nick-xu7gq no. You want to make the tree go all the way down with the tap root. If you drill holes, it will get some of that water earlier. For fresh planted trees, get a 5 gallon bucket. Drill a 1/16th hole in the bottom of the bucket along one side. Put that side against the trunk and fill the bucket to the max. It will get the 5 gallons of water over about 90 minutes

Choko (Under the Choko Tree) is also called Chayote Squash or Vegetable Pear? Sechium edule. Gourd Family. Cucurbitaceae. When I see the picture it appears to be same. Cool season squash. In New Orleans is called mirliton.
Yup, that's it!
Smart
Thank you!
Such a great build!
Love your video. Please let us know how it goes with the frogs.
I remember seeing these as a child but didnt know what they were. Thanks for a great video.
