If you intend on buying a historic property by law you have to abide by UNESCOs rules on the state of conservation/ Historic area of conservation. You have to hire an architect and apply for planning permissions which can take up to one year. If you don’t you’ll be caught and fined/ your build will be put on hold. Since early this year you’ll now also have to apply for permission by the cultural minister for an Airbnb permit. If you’ve bought an apartment, you’ll have to ask everyone’s permission to allow your Airbnb. If you own a house, you obviously don’t. Also, try to find architects outside of Istanbul. From other cities eg Bursa/ Izmir etc who work with builds/ projects in Istanbul all the time. İstanbul architect firms can be extortionate

Can i move long term without buying property. I heard the Turkish government just raised the citizenship requirement to 450k.

Living in Turkey is good when you have American income, yes. But if you living on local income and money (lira) everything is quite expensive as inflammation has risen. But the dollar has gone up making it stretch farther so you can buy things by paying little money. But when your American money run out you will struggle like the locals where you are more cautious about how much you spend. That's my experience here in Turkey. Turkey is beautiful but the only things I do not like here is the hospitals especially city hospital not being clean and they don't give me the same care as when I was in America. And there's a lot of littering here. People throw garbage on the ground a lot and there's stray dogs, big dogs and cats every where. I'm ok about the cats but I'm afraid of the dogs. And lastly some parts of Turkey is too over crowded, long lines, no toilet paper and soap in most public bathrooms. Pack toilet paper, soap and hand sanitizer when you go out sightseeing or visiting crowded places and beaches areas. So those are the negatives of Turkey that some don't mention. I'm living in Antalya for over a year now. If you plan to come make sure you know the language. There's hardly anyone who speak English so I have to have my husband go shopping with me always.

Well, it will become more expensive as many westerners escaping the gloomy cold weather to beautiful shiny Mediterranean spots. i lived in turkey for 2 years. made a company but i did,t enjoy it . i can,t extend my visa hard to get bank card. and so many other complex things . i spent 200000$ there but it is completely wastage . i left turkey in jan 2024 . i m going back to china . which is much better . for food turkey is ok also house rent is ok if you earn in dollars or euro but if you earn from turkey then so hard to live there

There is no denying that this is a stunning property! I love the windows and light. But… I’m pretty disappointed by the kitchen 😕 The corner sink is awful to use, the appliances are very small and the black is dated/ the color scheme makes it look cheap. I’d redo the kitchen if I bought it, and I’d want a bath. But I like the roof and how the layout works now.
