That song is so suicidal. I love that faouzia made it sound like she was heartbroken!!
The chorus matters, but Jorge did it this way on purpose. And we have i believe 4 of the 6 lines of the chorus confirmed at this moment
Oh, it VERY much matters what the chorus is saying 😁🔥 For the entire next several sagas
Awwww the comfort objects, y'all are so sweet ❤️ Which is also why your reactions are so good
(TLDR)The prophet is called Tiresias, he was granted the gift of prophetic sight by Zeus... because Hera had taken Tiresias normal sight. Long eplanation Tiresias was a man that got turned into a woman, then he was later turned back into a man, Zeus asked Tiresias a certain question due to Tiresias unique insight. Zeus had previously made a bet with Hera relating to the question "who has it hardest? men or women?" Tiresias get the question and is in a situation of 'regardless of answer I will be smitted by one of t hem' and answered the best he could, Hera got mad and blinded Tiresias, Zeus felt bad since it was technically his fault(rare moment) and gave Tiresias the gift of prophetic sight.
"Man, I'm sorry about your eyes, my bad! Here, have haunting visions of future events for the rest of your existence! We're even now, right?"
There's also another version where Athena blinds him and gives him the foresight powers, but idk where that version is meant to be from
I feel like the Prophet saying he helps Odysseus in one world is a fourth wall break on the real Odyssey where he actually advises him. Unlike here where he was cryptic and barely say anything helpful aside from subtle warnings.
Tiresias had quite the eventful life he was in Oedipus and Seven againts Thebes too, one story goes while on a walk he encountered a pair of mating snakes and when he struck them Hera turned him into a woman he was a woman for 7 years, he either tranformed back naturaly or encountered a pair of snakes again and struck them to get back, for the blindness one story is that he accidentally encountered athena bathing and she takes his sight but his mother a nymph Chariclo pleads to Athena who gets him the gift of prophecy; another is Zeus and Hera are arguing on what gender experiences the most pleasure from sex Zeus says women and Hera men they ask Tiresias and he ends up saying women, Hera gets angry and makes him blind and Zeus feeling bad for him and as a gift for agreeing with him gives him prophetic abilities
Since the Prophet is human those background vocals are other dead souls Edit: fix the spoilers
No spoilers please
@@PandaBear221BI thought this was a known fact
The vocals in the background has been explained before, yes. But the part about the silhouettes of men at Odysseus castle is only a known fact if you’ve read to seen the original story at some point. I have, but DJ and some of our viewers have not.
About the line "There is a world where I help you get home. But that's not a world I know" there's a theory that the prophet is talking about the original Odyssey; in the original poem Tiresias actually helps Odysseus, giving him precise directions, while in Epic he only makes obscure references. So Tiresias would be basically saying "Sorry, this version of me can't help this version of you" 😅
Tiresias, seeing visions of what Odysseus has to do to actually get home: Okay, no, I am not taking part in this, I'm already dead, noooo thank youuuu 😂
I am a monster rwua rwua rwua is next.
10:41 Panda: The chores do not matter. I think Me laughing: god, it will be so funny to tell you guys those lines after you finish thunder saga.
I will say, Jorge doesn't really put in anything just because it sounds awesome. It'll have a specific reason. People are going to be dissecting this musical for years. 😂
I like to think of this one as the Trauma Saga, cuz it’s just a dog pile of trauma over here.
Tiresias has his own Mythos. He was a Human, than he insulted the Gods and had to live as a Woman for a few years. Long enough to get married and have Children. Than Zeus and Hera asked for his Opinion. They were arguing who gets more enjoyment doing the Deed, Man or Woman? Tiresias said Woman and for some Reason Hera got emberassed, so she took his eyesight??? Zeus feelt pitty, so he gifted him Future vision.
So, Mr Jalapeno revealed that Tiresias the Prophet sees "all of time, all the time". He sees past, present, and future flashes constantly and cannot turn it off. When Ody gets close, Tiresias sees his entire life - his prophecies refer to both points in Odysseus's life. So far we have the following prophecy lines that can be ascribed to past: "I see the song of past romance" - Odysseus and Penelope "I see the sacrifice of man" - Fight with Polyphemus / Poseidon Jokingly, I also feel like "Brother's final stand" could be about drunk Elpenor on the roof, or less jokingly about Polites. The second time, he sings about the future (and I'll return to this every time we come across a prophecy moment).
I feel like the past ones would be more like- Song of past romance - Penelope, yes. Sacrifice of man - the infant maybe? Portrayals of betrayal - possibly Polyphemus since he took the wine gift but still went to kill (even tho he's justified in that, a wine does not make up for the loss of a pet) A brother's final stand - maybe Polites?
@@HellIsForeverWithInfinite Portrayals of betrayal - My Goodbye? Odysseus going against Athena?
Honestly one of my favorite songs, it tells you everything that will happen, but never quite how you think it will
My favourite part is how it also tells of the past, so it's two meanings at the same time.
As the posterior sagas were released, more of that choir gets audible. It is a way Jorge made not to spoil his next releases
Tiresias´ story is that he was "cursed" by the gods to live as a woman for part of his life.He sees different realities based on people´s decisions.
just saying... he gave him everything... and more Lets say that chorus has the key of future fandom did figure out what its saying mostly. If you want to you can try to understand it by yourself (it is hard to understand by design) or read the subtitles/lyrics online My advice is if you are gonna read it online do it after you listen vegeance saga because it has even more spoilers than what is prophet is telling himself but when you try to understand by yourself it is more difficult to understand so theorizing what he is saying is very fun when you do by yourself and yes Jorge is not telling us the lyrics! GUTS HE HAS IS INCREDIBLE! :D
For me Tiresias, the prophet,'s instrument is the voice of the Deads/Chorus as they also prophesize the future (act 2)
I love this song. So haunting and shocking and majestic and crushing and melodic... plus with the choir background... I just realized, it reminds me a lot of Duel of Fates from Phantom Menace. One of the real high points of that movie.
Haha, I won’t spoil anything for the musical, but since you asked and it isn’t a spoiler for this story, I will talk about the Prophet. His name is Tiresias, he’s a famously blind prophet, and he shows up in quite a few places in Greek mythology - but perhaps his most famous appearance (or maybe just the one I know best haha) is in the play Oedipus Rex, where he is the one who tries to warn Oedipus that he is the very murderer who Oedipus is seeking. So basically, this man keeps being put in the unenviable position of having to tell dumb kings who are trying to figure out very obvious prophecies that “look, stupid, it’s YOU, the prophecy is about YOU, YOU are the problem.” 😂 So, less a character with uncertain motives to mistrust, more of a poor bastard who keeps having to give bad news to very powerful men and even dying wasn’t enough to get him out of this. 😂
Yeahhh he really does get the short end of the stick, in different versions of his myths he keeps getting thrown around by the gods, and in one version his prophecies come from Zeus and Hera arguing, yanking him into it to decide between their opinions - and when he answers the way Zeus wants, Hera blinds him, while Zeus, who couldn't reverse it, gives him the "gift" of future vision - and I think also seven lives? So.. he's stuck with telling the future to people who are too pompous to realize what the warnings are about, for pretty much eternity 😅 Poor guy
@ Oh wow, I didn’t know all of that! God damn, this poor dude really canNOT catch a break. XD
I’m confused did they skip “Remember Them”?
That reaction is posted on DJs channel
My theory about the instrument for the prophet being similar to Circe's is that he was the man Circe loved. "I have been in love once before."
Great theory, but not what I think she meant. She could have meant Hermes, her ex, or Glaucus. A man she fell for but didn’t return her feelings. To avoid spoilers for panda I suggest you give him a search 👀 because this links her with an interesting character.
❤❤❤
This animatic, I think also makes the most sense in comparison to others I’ve seen if you’re caught up with the actual musical. Like I would say to definitely keep what was shown in this animatic in mind.
dj "how much more is he going to lose" the people who know "to avoid spoilers a lot"
It's funny cause The Odyssey is older than the creation of the old testament. (About 50-100 year difference) Spoiler alert for The Old Testament, god kills %99.99 of all living things with a flood.
The background singers are actually spoiling every future song. If you don't care about spoilers, they're saying: 1. Siren Song 2. Scylla Throat 3. Mutiny 4. Lightning Bolt The ones after that aren't as clear, but a few of them are probably "Whirlpool," "Kill All Suitors For Love," "(???) Poseidon," and the last one is a long and drawn out operatic of "Odysseus." My personal theory is that the final song of the musical will literally be titled "Odysseus" or "Odyssey." Roll credits.😂
Those who know, just imagine. Prophet, pointing: Get in the Water. Ody, falling: Ahhhhh! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The piano is Athena's instrument.
10:35 Actually the chorus does matter hahaha but it spoils all the following sagas. Jorge already mentioned and confirmed the four initial phrases, missing the last two, but many already believe they know what they say. However, I think the most desirable thing is not to tell you until you have at least passed the thunder saga.
Tiresias’s instrument is meant to be the organ, fitting for someone who’s dead.
"i dont think what the background voices are singing is important" 😅 Nervous laughter. Hahaha, yeah...
Nervous laughter indeed xD But to be fair, they're more on the side of "this is a cool detail for those who want to dive deep" and not really meant to be heard loud and clear :D I'm also wondering, through his backing spirits, did Tiresias tell him how to get home, after all? :'D But seriously, I wouldn't want to know those specific kinds of instructions either when I'm asking for directions home xD
It might be best to try not to get *too* bogged down in which instrument goes with which character. It's true that there are established links, but as Casper says in one of his reactions, there's only a certain number of instruments available. If Jay were to make it exclusively that each instrument can only be used for its respective character that would be too limiting. Better to think of it in terms of a combination of certain instruments playing certain tunes, for example Circe's is specifically the strings playing that Habanera rhythm, rather than any time strings happen.
Though to be fair, the strings connection could also be a reference to the fact that Circe is the one who instructed Ody even go to the underworld to talk with Tiresias, similar to the tiny bit of Circe's theme that shows up in Suffering since in many versions of the tale, Circe turned a nymph into a certain multi-headed monster
@@dwell7315 Could be, true. We know there's plenty of musical hints in there, I'm just saying you can fall into the trap of looking too hard and seeing them in places where they're not intended as well.
Fun fact: the choir at the end chorus foreshadow events to come if you listen carefully.
Yep yep yep
I love the Easter eggs Jay leaves for us!!
Yes, well, luckily its intelligible enough that they won't understand until later.

I could be wrong, but I do believe the Chorus at the end is Tiresias' "Instrument"
I think it’s also the low string section at the beginning that set the waltz pace
The guy who sings for the prophet, Tiresias, is Mason Olshavsky.
Is it really a talk with a prophet if you’re not left a little confused and or missing the double meaning of everything he says? Ody, my poor boy. The atmosphere of this one is so good.
Not understanding/believing what the prophet says is a theme in the Iliad, certainly.
@@marthafein1149 Poor Cassandra, man ;__;
Angry owl time! XD No Longer You is one of my absolute favorite songs in the musical. It’s so haunting and well composed, making it a very fun song to belt out.
