Jack teaches Hornet Will Raper the 3D Way
I have to appreciate the work put into making the video but this tip is going to cause lots of inconsistency. Not only vertically but (probably mostly) horizontally too. The curvature of people's faces and jaw lines isn't going to lend to this very well. IMHO.
Bought my first bow one year ago, and have come a long way, how youtube hasn't recommended you before is beyond me. Awesome video. Thank you for your help.
Are there any pros that do this? Doesn’t make any sense to me. Im trying to wrap my head around how this can be consistent
So what happens if you shoot Max 50 yards then would you still sit the peep at 20 yards in?
Archery is about consistency. Adding another variable like where to anchor for each shot wouldn't interest me in a hunting situation. It may be fine for target shooting. I prefer a small kisser button, large 1/4" peep, & a single fixed vertical pin. I practice at unknown distances all summer long & learn where to place that pin. During the past 37 years, I have never used a movable pin or multiple pin sight. I use one fixed vertical pin or crosshair. I pull back (this may be long before the deer stops), & the deer determines the distance of the shot. I instinctively know where to place my pin if I practice enough. Hunting is not walking up to a deer like a 3-D shoot. I have tried the EZ-V sight on a few deer, but I have gone back to a single fixed vertical pin. My younger brother does the same. We use a simple HHA Optimizer Cadet Single Pin sight for youth. When it's crunch time, I want to KISS (no changing my anchor points, no moving my pin, & no picking the right pin). If a deer is within 10-40 yards, I instinctively know where my pin needs to be. Simple is better for me! I practice to harvest deer.
This is awesome. I know my tape is right and I can shoot pretty well at 70-80yds. But the minute switch over to 100yds, my groups are good but always landing around 12” below the target. Gonna try to adjust my anchor point like how you mentioned. Thank you!
Good info Griv, would you recommend using the center the pin in the peep method for a hunting sight?
Its not thanks for this video- Its thanks for all of em. You've taught me 90% of what goes into my shots & I haven't even been in the same room with you. I never understood "things" until I saw you on that seminar about coaching. I love ya man, please keep making these - we all need it. Expert top archers that win trophies are generally NOT greatest teachers. Those teacher cats are truly special ones.
How do you know where exactly the center of the string is when putting in the peep? It didn’t seem like there was a separator or something as far as I noticed.
I'm not very scientific about that. I usually split the string right where I want it to go facing the right direction. I really just eyeball the middle best I can. It's not critical to be exact. A few strands off center won't be noticeable.
@@georgeryals Thank you! People always make it seem like there is no more hope when the center is lost.
I am really excited to see you pushing out more content once again. I have been taking notes, and benefiting from your teaching already. With thanks.
George. How do you go about figuring out your D loop length? How do you figuring that out?? Thank you sir!
I use a standard one inch extension. Some may like a 3/4" extension if they have a narrow face or jaw.
@@georgeryals Thanks for getting back. currently im at 3/4”. I was a little shocked at your comment on the 1/8” peep for hunting. And being able to still see through it during hunting conditions. But im willing to try it. I was always under the understanding of halo your scopes ring with the peep. For a guy with a shorter draw, that means a kinda large peep.
I’m very new to compound bow archery and I really appreciate the way you share your knowledge with us. I had started with an improper draw and strained my shoulder and developed some biceps tendon tearing but, I’m healing up nicely. I wish I had known about your channel before I started and, I would have likely avoided injuries.
I'm glad you found me. Stick to the doctor recommended rehab and exercises even if it feels totally fine. Get those muscles back in shape. If archery hurts, there's likely a fit problem.
Thanks for sharing George, proof is definitely in the pudding 🤘🏻
Confused at about 8:20 in... Griv, are you saying we should move anchor position to compensate for distance or height of the target to line up the peep or should we stay in the "T" form and move only at the hips? I thought anchor position on the face is a practiced, fixed, identical thing every time as part of the shot process, line up the peep and pin and move the hips to align with the target. It sounds like you're saying move the anchor and west position? Thanks!!
You’ll need to check through the other points of the Big4. There’s three other videos to watch for the full picture. Basically, I’m saying what you touch on your face isn’t what makes you accurate. The peep tells you where to anchor. You will have the height of the peep set for comfort and the greatest stability at your midrange distances. The old tip about bending at the waist is incorrect. Set your shoulders at the target line and balance your weight then draw.
Great coaching George 👍🏻
Awesome, thank you!
This series is golden! Thank you GRIV!
Very grateful for this series coming back! I’m booking my lesson via zoom ASAP. Thanks again!
Yep this is bang on! I don't know if this is necessary the best thing to advice from my experience but the act of what I would call "holding the break" is best installed on a bow that really tends to have forward direction and roll forward quite a bit (doesn't necessarily mean lots of front weight though)
“Peep controls where to anchor” = Mind Blown. Thank you Griv. Awesome stuff.
Thanks for producing this series!
Let’s go
Awesome information. Thank you
👍👍. Some MORE great info. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great content, thank you! Similar to your advice on changing your approach on a vertical 3 spot, do you change your left to right on a vegas 3 spot?
Typically the Vegas triangle is close enough together you don't need to be that fine with it. The vertical face is a big change per target.
I didn’t know you could put double limb silencers in the limbs
You can decorate your bow any way you like. They do make the feel nice but it does nothing for overall accuracy
@@georgeryals I was just worried about stress on the limbs when they flex
Thank you, sir. Your video helped me a lot. I agree with setting alignment toward the target first it helps a lot comparing with just draw toward the targets without commitment to pick one.
Glad it helped
Just these first two steps have made me feel so comfortable at draw can't wait for 3 an 4. 🤘
Rock on!
This stuff is pure gold. Working with George for 3 years, he helped me a lot.
Great tip for the uphill/downhill shooting. I started doing it this way a few years ago after hearing Dave Cousins say that was how he did it. Gave it a try and really helped me shooting uphill 👍
Im pretty sure your son is a Targaryen.
Even better, he's a Ryals. The tagariens are wimps.
Awesome exercise, that anyone can do.
It is true if you talk about it , listen about it , research it…… you will get it. I never had it until i started all that. Maybe i didn’t realize… i dont know
Mr. Ryals, how do you tech activating a hinge? Is it intentionally rolling it in your hand? Or just pulling through? I’ve used a hinge for 2 years but struggle activating it consistently using the same technique. When I roll the hinge I come off my anchor point. When I pull through it pulls my front bow arm around. When I try and let my release hand expand my shot collapses or gets shaky as I lose tension. Can you give any advice sir? Or make a video?
Hey bud... good to see ya
Its the same with every George Ryals video: I click the like button before I even watched it. :) Cant thank GR enough for his in depth education and solid presentation. BR from germany

I bought a hinge release a couple months ago. I listen to this while I shoot in my garage at night. I’ve been shooting a bow for 18 years and I have finally experienced archery bliss! Shooting a bow the way you are explaining is an experience that is smooth, effortless and without anxiety. Griv, thank you so much. I hope I have a chance to see you in person at some point. Thank you
I am glad to hear it's helping. Last Chance Archery and I have relaunched "Thing A Week" so keep your notifications on for new tips every week.
Peep sights , 80% let off , caliper release........this is not archery
🙄
I've been struggling with a niggle in my draw shoulder, never thought it would be a drawlength issue but I also have a fast, jerky pin float so I wonder if going a bit longer might be the thing? My elbow is also a little high.....Definitely going to try the tips out.
Start with it a notch longer than you think and spend a day or so getting used to the feel and spreading out into it. Then when you shorten it a little you’ll know right away if you’re headed in the right direction. In my experience, people tend to shoot their draws a little on the short side.
