Wilderness adventure videos of my search for true wilderness in the Mighty Peace River Valley of Northern B.C. I hike and canoe the valley to fill my own need to be out in nature and secondly to document the valley before and after it is flooded by a hydro dam in fall of 2024.
Ambushed by a Mountain Lion
Ambushed by a Mountain Lion | Intense Wildlife Encounter | Nature Adventure Story
In this wildlife adventure I share the moment when I barely missed being attacked by a mountain lion as it lay in wait in a tree to ambush me!
Fortunately, the mountain lion shifted his weight as I approached his ambush tree and a branch cracked under his weight. Otherwise this account might not have had a happy ending, for myself or possibly the big cat.
Enjoy nature and your hiking and keep safe!

Snow Cat - Mountain Lion in winter habitat
มุมมอง 223หลายเดือนก่อน
This is from the mountain lion "ambush tree" trail camera. Lions have frequented this tree for years as evidenced by the amount of deer bones littering the ground under the tree. This site is in the Peace River valley in northern BC which has now become a large lake as the valley was flooded by a hydro dam. This tree and trail camera is above the high water mark and continues to document the ch...

The Nature of God

A song about how I found healing from a very painful stomach condition as a nine year old that the doctor had no answers for. The first picture is with grandma and the black and white image is of my dad. He was on a geology field trip at Redfern Lake.

I am so THANKFUL you did NOT KILL HER! Glad your ok. Respect & Protect these majestic beautiful souls in their HOME Terratories. Thank you, Love & Blessing all 🙏🏼💜😇
Thank you! They are such magnificent and beautiful animals.
I've always read that the reason cougars aren't classified as one of the "big cats" is that they can't roar. Honestly that "roar" in no way matched what I've heard lions and tigers doing in zoos. It sounded more like a deep-pitched purr.
Yes, apparently the Cougar/Mountain Lion/Puma of North America doesn't even have the vocal chords to roar. Which is why I thought this was so unusual.
That was an impressive mountain lion call, just like the real thing
lol, once you hear that sound in the woods it's stays with you.
A beautiful mountain lion gave birth to two cubs on my property in 2021. She would walk within 100 yards of my deck three times and week. They have moved on now, I miss them. 🐆🐆🐆
That would have been a great experience! Did you get any pics?
@@kencosburn Yes, but that phone died and took everything with it. These memories will last forever.😊
@ Yes, good memories. Nice talking to you. God bless you.
That sure is some beautiful country... Great shots and an excellent video... ✌️
@riversandcoffee thank you so much!
Had one have a go at me when elk hunting
Glad you made out ok.
that is a healthy mountain Lion, masters of their environment......if he wanted you he would have, he was just letting you know this is his territory
Well, said. They certainly are masters of their environment.
They can be so quiet it's eerie.
You're right about that. They are such beautiful animals but also deadly hunters.
Healthy cat ! Am in the Columbia River Gorge on the N most Oregon side. Had me some incidences with cats up here as there's plenty of game for their diets. Recently had a buddy show me a foto taken recently in Washington state of a 6'' adult male human holding a deceased cougar around its chest with its feet on the ground n legs not stretched out much .. and the top of its head above the guys. The cougars head was twice the size of the guys !! .. A Younger-Dryas genetic hold-out .. er sumthin' !? Grizzlies are also down in S Washington now too as a report of a LARGE grizzly on the main road thru town the day before, reached me n a buddy when we were in the town of Glenwood(S Wash.) for a rodeo last fall. Wolves too !! Don't see either swimmin across the Columbia though ..
I know exactly where that frozen pond is as we hike that area all the time. I have never yet seen cougar tracks in that area. Maybe a good thing lol!!
Yes, it's a very pretty place to hike still even with all the changes in the valley.
wow, you're very lucky. if you were just a few steps too close you could've gotten killed! here in Australia, the closest i can get to this is getting pounced on by a drop bear lol
Yes, it was close. I had to google drop bear ! Lol cheers mate
Enjoy nature and please keep safe!
Hi Ken, Thanks for the great video!
Hey Ruben, glad you liked it!
Meow!
Going to the woods will teach you about God indeed because it’s written… “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
That 🐈 was out to kill. Tail flick.👁️👁️.
👍😎🇨🇦
Today I saw the cow moose and the two calves doing well.
Thank you for the update! Was going to ask.
Low frequency rumble!* YES!*😬😬😬😬😬😬
This is very very cool
Thank you!
This is so cool
You must have worked hard and put in a lot of time and effort to make these. If you didn't, people like me wouldn't be able to see these creatures that fascinate us. Thankyou...
I just love these cats they are so impressive to take down animals 3 times their size ,pound per pound one of the most fierce animals in the world
Hmmm
So I searched up sounds
Great pictures. I also have hiked that area but never quite made it up to the new slide. I was unaware there were Grizzlies in the area as shown in your other videos. I will be more cautious in the future lol.
Thanks for your comment Jay bray! Enjoy the woods!
Thanks, Ken.. this was really informative. Appreciate it..
You are welcome Natalie.
Thank you for the great photos
You are welcome Sheree!
Nice !!!
Lovely video. Wonderful captures. A pleasure . Enjoyed Irene.🌸
Thank you @Irene Downing.
What a stunning sunset at the end, thank you for sharing!
Thank you Holly!
Nice video. Beautiful country. Might have to float the peace one of these days this summer if I can find time to do it.
Thank you. Yes, it is a beautiful river.
Thank you for sharing another beautiful video, did you carve the ice into a fish shape?
Thank you Holly. The ice fish was floating down the river with the other ice flows. I guess just a fluke it had that shape.
Awesome!
Thank you Starr & Daniel. I love your channel videos!
Enjoyed very much, thanks for sharing!
Sure seems like either he hit the camera and the noise came from that, or something else hit it. Almost certain that's what actually happened
Wow omg
🐅
@@fluffycottscraft Thank you Sir. The Mountain Lions here are not as dangerous as your tigers. Keep safe in these times dear Sir.
11:00 No Roar
Thank you for the comment Josh. It is a curious sound for sure. These big cats aren't supposed to be able to make a roar like the African Lion, but then even people make unusual sounds when hurt etc.
Cool bear paw print in the snow
Yes, it's a unique capture. I don't always carry bear spray in the winter because it freezes. The claw marks on the print identify this as a Grizzly. Ursus Arctos Horribilus.
What a nice assortment of wildlife, thank you for sharing and happy New Year!!
Thank you Holly. Happy New Year!
I didn't hear anything!
Hi Derek Bates, hmm, i know the sound doesn't come through great on some phones or small speakers as it is a lower frequency sound.
@@kencosburn Then why even upload it?
@BigDinoBuilder So, your tiny smart phone can pick it up fine, but I have to buy some big ass speakers because...you say so? No, I don't think so.
Derek Bates that’s why he said a better phone...
I didn't here any thing either
Good vid! Ty for the upload!
That looks and sounds more like something struck the camera
Hi Pitch Possibly the cat hit the tree the camera is mounted on. Which might explain his angry roar
Beautiful shots of the area and the wild life.
Thanks Randal. Someone needed to document the natural beauty of this area and this is only a small part of the whole valley.
B
This is not lion
Yes, youvraj prince it is not like the African Lion. It is a big cat of the Americas with the Latin name of "Puma Concolor" which is called by many names by the locals such as Mountain Lion, Puma and Cougar.
It’s a different species of lion I saw one in my back yard I live in america
K good
Highly informative....look forward to coming back.
Thank you Mark!
I love your videos lay are so cool especially the ones with the bears
Thank you The yellow unicorn!
Fabulous video Ken Thanks for sharing
Thank you Stan! Glad you enjoyed it.
