I hear you. I learned how to type on an old chonky IBM keyboard with buckling springs, so I'll always prefer loud and clicky. Because of that, tactiles don't do it for me. I think I'm getting closer to a deep, less rattly sound sound, though. th-cam.com/video/yJNLHPjvum8/w-d-xo.html

The sound of is pretty eh. Since this video, I've did the tape mod and put foam shelf liner in the bottom of the case. It already sounds better! Another part that made it sound worse in this video is that there is no keyboard pad. I'm also experimenting with different switches. So far the Kahil Box Pinks are my favorite, but I'm going to best sound with stuff I can make improve for the fun of it. To that end, I've lubed the Gateron Green springs (less rattle) and added switch films. I'm also going to play with lubing the Huano red switches that came with the mk47. It's a great low price keyboard to learn modding with.

That's how it sounds with cheap keycaps, on a flat wood surface, and rattly switches. I was mainly showing off the RGBs. Now I've done the tape mod, added shelf liner to the interior of the case, lubed the springs, and added switch film to see if I can make subpar clicky switches sound better. I already have a good sounding keyboard with my Atreus. This keyboard is for experimentation. I say all that to say, that it already sounds better with a few cheap mods. :)

@@Enerxify The ortholinear layout. It is much easier on my wrist. I also prefer the 47 key layout and am very fast on it at 100 WPM. I also do my day to day work as a DevOps engineer on it with no issue. What is "goofy" to you is very practical to me from the perspective of reducing wrist strain, fun with experimentation l the physical product itself, and with the firmware. Something like this in the past would have easily been triple the price. Microcenter managed to bring it down to less than $40 that managed to tick every one of my boxes, so I figure why not. I'm less likely to experiment with a more expensive keyboard. The firmware is QMK which is fully open source and has a ton of features. qmk.fm/ I will never be locked into any vendors proprietary software that may or may not be available one day. That, by itself, makes this keyboard worth it.

On this setup, that’s actually a big space bar. My other keyboard has all small keys. I’ve also remapped the space bar here to backspace. Tetris, because the keys are in a grid (ortholinear) rather than a staggered (diagonal) layout and the keys are colored and lit up.
