    Agreed - the visuals are striking (though how close they are to how how it actually would have been is difficult to say). Lots of abusive language about - I'm pretty sure there were nice things being said too. Not much litter about.

    This is amazing to watch and a complete labour of love,, but I am not sure it is right. First of all average male height in this era was at an all time low, so everyone should be smaller and secondly the Victorian buildings would be new and should shine like pins. This should be obvious among the older Georgian infill (which would be appearing shabby by this time). More signage and advertising in general, and if we are genuinely in the 1860s and 1870s considerably more telegraph wires in the centre of town.

      @@petraschwingeler9688 I think it just represented the lowest point of industrialisation. There were bad periods during the Middle Ages but by and large the diet was reasonable. From the later 19th Century onwards there was an awareness of the importance of nutrition, and later a Welfare State. The 1850-1880 period was the nadir, or at least in the UK. I found a ref: "poor nutrition after 1870 in urban areas meant that the British Army (infantry) had to lower the minimum height requirement for recruits from 5ft 6 inches (170.7 cm) to 5ft 3 inches (161.5 cm) in 1883, and that it was then later lowered again to 5ftm (152.4 cm)". I think average height in 1868 for British males would have been about 5'6".

    VERY UNREALISTIC portrayal of London (or any other city)! There would have been throngs of pedestrians about and far more vehicles in the roads!!! There are many 'remastered' old films from around 1900 which give much more realistic and historically accurate picture of City life. Computerised images are only as good as the material they are based on - and this one is based on little or nothing!

Also, I don't really play videogames, I just happen to know this is from one, so decided correct you on your errors. And finally, who cares that some people do like games? 🤣 That doesn't mean they don't like real life. Like you implied. You just made up loads of facts about a stranger and then tried using those 'facts' to win a pointless argument. 🤡 Nice try though princess. I can already smell the froth at the corners of your furious mouth as you were spewing your weak response. Your ego must be paper thin to be this upset over historical inaccuracies in a kids game. If it was 156 years ago, the buildings would have been much newer and should appear fresh, not weathered down. The city's current, aged look doesn’t make sense for that time period, as the structures should reflect their original, well-maintained state.

      Yes, I agree. The Georgian and pre-Georgian architecture should appear time worn, but the stone and brickwork on the Victorian buildings should be pin sharp. It is a miracle to watch, I am enjoying it so much, so it seems a shame to quibble. The women's fashion seems to oscillate a bit between the 1850s and 1880s (the bustle is really a thing of the 1880s) but perhaps that is authentic. A fine dress would have been an expensive thing, perhaps older fashions would have been worn?

    From an English sentimental nostalgic viewpoint, it appears the Golden Age of Victorian England was from about 1880 to 1913. It's not all roses as most would admit but they would still be fascinated living in that time frame to experience it. For Americans, our closest analog would be New York City or Boston in that same time line.

  • @jeffyoung60
    @jeffyoung60 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Who is this strange, solitary, unspeaking Englishman purposefully striding the 1868 mean streets of London? His clothing seems anachronistic, as if he were dressed more for 1848. He has a slight look of the sailor as if he served on British merchant marine commercial vessels. He looks to be in his mid-to-late 20s, the prime of his life. His height is about 5'10" at minimum but no more than 6'0". His build is mesomorph athletic and he looks more than capable of defending himself even against more than one ruffian or hooligan who is foolish enough to accost him. More, he is probably concealing weapons under his thick seaman's coat. He probably brandishes a large Bowie knife for primary defense and a much smaller back-up knife for last-ditch defense and as a tool. He might also be carrying a small pocket pistol for extreme instances of self-defense. He is not leaving his personal defense solely up to his fists. Look at his left forearm. It is protected by a heavy, decorated sleeve probably of stiff leather reinforced with pieces of decorative metal. It is a forearm defense against assailant knives and cane swords. His right arm appears to have some kind of reinforcement at the back of the elbow. It could be a round piece of metal intended for striking back at assailants at very close range. He is clearly prepared for fighting yet clearly does not invite confrontation. That is not his purpose. His purpose is something else clandestine and important but one that might require physical altercation. One imagines he is not poor. On the contrary, he likely carries a good amount of paper money and gold and silver coins in his pockets. When evening falls, he will avail himself of a decent quality tavern or inn for a hearty dinner then a modest, small but clean room and bed for the night. He could spend more but by nature he is frugal but not miserly with himself. Who he is, what is his name, and what is his purpose other than aimlessly striding about London has yet to be revealed.
