    I worked at Hughes Tool from 1969 to 1972, my brother also worked there. Workers parked their cars and walked thru a tunnel to enter the plant.

    The Rice Hotel featured beautiful architecture, the rooms were kept "old style" (early 1940-50's furnishings) all the way up to the end in the later 1970's.

      Yes, KTRH news station which later became KLOL in 1970. KTRH news rooms were on the 5th floor, and executive office on the 6th floor, and 1970 KLOL was located on the 4th floor.

    I remember going to see wrestling at the Coliseum with my dad when we had local wrestling with Paul Bosh with the likes of hacksaw Dugan junk yard dog roock and roll Express terry funk just to name a few had a blast actually got to meet some of them something you wouldn't get today ba k then i remember wrestler's would be out walking around with the fans before the matches would start

      B L: True enough and the Astrodome is next. County Judge Hidalgo says spending money on it is a low priority. She says though, that she plans to use property tax money to set up free immigration lawyers for individuals who are here illegally. Is it racist now to want our laws to mean something?

    I remember seeing The Phantom of the Opera at the old music hall. It was one of the last performances there. The theater itself had a haunted feel that matched the atmosphere of the play. The building at that time still had so many old original things in it that still worked like the original phone booths with lights and fans that came on when the door closed. Such a shame to see a beautiful building go. Even though parts like the colosseum were in a state of disrepair.

    The Houston city leaders were very smart to let pro wrestling happen at the Sam Houston Coluesum. If that venue could handle livestock, it could sure deal with Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy, Kamala, and Dusty Rhodes.

    My Father, Lew Gordon, had the concessions at all of these venues, so they were all like second homes to me. I have such wonderful memories of all of them and the stars and performers that I met.

    My dad and I used to get haircuts on Saturdays at the Shamrock. They had a barber shop somewhere on the ground floor. The lobby of that thing was like being on the Queen Mary -- a landlocked oceanliner. It was amazing!

    As a senior in high school I worked for Al’s Formal Wear. I got to help out with a fashion show at the Shamrock Hotel. I have wonderful memories of that day at the Shamrock.
