    Good question I was thinking the same but couldn’t get an answer from Ford, Skoda or Lexus websites which all said they strongly recommend level 2, but not why. I put the question to ChatGPT and got a great response. The main reasons are level one puts a high drain on your household electrical system for a long period of time, which it was initially built for. That can cause issues if wiring’s old or faulty. Secondly level two wall chargers allow you to time your charging to take advantage off off peak rates. The wall charger cost can pay for itself in a year or so. ChatGPT also mentioned there is a slight impact on battery life. Based on the above I’ve decided to get a wall charger.

      @StrongEnergy-EVCharging I just got a Kia EV6 5 days ago and haven't charged it yet. It went down from 75 to 45%. My Level 1 charger is being delivered today and I plan to keep it between 40 and 70%. So by my calculations, if I charge it overnight for 10-12 hours every 4-5 days, that should be all I need. I'll see how it works in practice with time :)

    In my country Australia, v4 superchargers are rated to 350kw, v3 250kw, so this may not apply to Canada. If you're only seeing 70kw then possibly too cold and you have LFP chemistry, and your state of charge is not low enough, (faster the lower it is), LFP cars have a max charge rate of 170kw, NMC/NCA cars max out at 250kw though some users have seen slightly over 250, the max i've seen has been 236kw. Again this is in Australia with cars that predominantly come from GigaShanghai.

So they will remain cars, mostly for people who own garage. What? There are no houses with regular outlets on 60 amp breakers. And either way, the breaker doesn't decide how much current devices draw. The charger will draw what it's supposed to draw regardless of the breaker in front of it. So as long as it's large enough then it makes no difference. This a dumb video this guy doesn't know what he's talking about

    • @standardstyle5976
      @standardstyle5976 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn't matter. All a breaker is is an overcurrent protection device. If the charger requires a 60 amp breaker than use a 60 amp breaker. If it requires 40 than use 40. It will have no effect on charging speed, it will just trip if it's insufficient. Putting your charger behind a larger breaker doesn't magically make it faster.

    • @StrongEnergy-EVCharging
      @StrongEnergy-EVCharging 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see what you’re saying but you can put a level 2 charger on a 60 amp circuit and it will draw 48 amps of power. The charger will only draw as much power as the circuit it’s connected to will allow
