I visited Ananya Trust at the beginning of November. This school really changed my perspective toward what we define as excellent education. Is Alternative education better than mainstream education?

The current education system in our country is not equipped to handle the diversity of children that are a part of it. As a 74 year grandmother and a retired teacher of 40 years, I am truly happy to see a school like this and see the need for thousands and thousands more like this. There are quite a few so called “alternate.” schools around, but most of them commit themselves to “ secularism”, by which they discourage or even prohibit nationalistic and Bharathiya leanings, activities, discussions etc. These and the public schools scattered in every corner are the crucibles for the WOKE-ness of a society that is falling apart rapidly. But, by its very nature schools like this Vidya Kshetra can be of the “ one of its kind” type and take in only limited number of students, while the need on the ground is for one in every neighbourhood. This or some other school like this can solve this problem by “Franchising” ( maybe wrong word, but I am using it in absence of another suitable one) out their model. Bring in parents and teachers of willing neighbourhoods, give them training, and help them to start such a school in their own community. Decent houses can be rented in the areas for the schools. Advanced lab facilities when needed, bigger libraries, teachers with special skills etc. can be shared among the schools. The “ mother school” can bring in all the staff, parents together once a year for refresher experiences. It can also do the required mandatory engagement etc. with government departments. Each of the schools will be independent in its financial and community aspects. These kind of schools will also save children from the hours they use up commuting to schools far away, keep the fees structure reasonably low, can have a high involvement of the adult community of the neighbourhood ( while the present scenario is of parents being politely halted at the waiting room ), and vitally have the children get used to getting involved in their community. Schools like this, and our country and nation of Bharath will begin to SHINE in just ten years’ time!

Well said! Hi, I'm from Indonesia. You must know that there's a unique cultural aspect to our education system: 'Every leader change, then the curriculum too.' The cycle is typically around 5 years. This constant shifting creates significant pitfalls in educational progress. For instance, the transformative policies introduced by Minister Nadiem are now facing potential changes with the incoming new leader. It seems there's an inclination to discard previous policies and revert to the old national assessment system. I'm just curious to know if this frequent curriculum change with every leadership transition is a common practice in other countries?

It was heartwarming to see it here and share it with our friends & family. However, Please don’t take it the wrong way, I wish you had done a quality check before uploading the video. For eg “Waldorf” is spelt the wrong way.
