Small Adventures
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ต.ค. 2021
Hi! My name's Amy.
I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland where I currently make most of my videos. I moved here several years ago so that I could do my PhD in honeybee science! That chapter is now complete but I loved my time here so much I decided to stay.
I have a LOT of interests and am easily distracted by new hobbies! I love getting outdoors to explore both history and nature...Stone circles, birds, castles, plants, hillforts and hiking are my jam. I also LOVE reading and crafting makes me happy too. My content will undoubtedly be eclectic!
I originally started this channel as I was taking more and more videos whilst I was out and about and I enjoyed making something out of them. I've called it 'Small Adventures' because I used to believe that an adventure had to be long, arduous and far away but now I think adventure is wherever you choose to find it. I hope these videos inspire you to explore and go on your own small adventures!

Day 15: a brief autumn camping trip in the Kingdom of Fife
Watching this back I just remember how tired we both were and how much we had going on, which probably explains the limited footage and shorter video length this time! It was still a great little break and it gave us so many ideas of things we would like to go back and explore. The highlight of the whole trip, for me, was Scotland's Secret Bunker and I totally recommend a visit.

Day 14: I hate driving!
มุมมอง 342 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Doing 'vlogmas' has been a great way for me to do something with all the random bits of footage I have - especially the bits of footage that didn't really go anywhere or are really incongruous with the rest of my channel! This is definitely incongruous! Although my plan was to drive off on solo adventures for a week, I only managed one drive to the beach and then didn't drive on my own again fo...
Day 13: visiting Dunnottar Castle with my dad.
มุมมอง 374 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
My dad's first trip to Dunnottar Castle. We've covered the other 'big' clifftop castles in Aberdeenshire already because they're my favourite (Findlater and New Slains). Despite not being my favourite, Dunnottar is still spectacular. Music: Million Things I'd Rather Do (Instrumental Version) by Binkley

Day 10: wrecking-it post-PhD!
มุมมอง 2912 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Overall I enjoyed my PhD, but after handing in I had a lot of feelings. Partly I felt really angry with how some things went down towards the end! The PERFECT way to release some of that energy was to destroy some stuff. Going to a wreck-it room was super cathartic and I would totally recommend it! Day 9: The Cabrach | Relaxing River

Day 8: drive time | The long road from Aberdeen to Hereford.
มุมมอง 10316 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Every 20 minutes on our journey from Aberdeen in Scotland to Hereford in England (~370 miles) I took ~30 secs of video. This isn't my usual kind of video, but it's exactly the kind of thing that Mattia has on in the background or watches when he falls asleep...so I made it with him in mind! Day 7: visiting the abandoned Glennfiddich hunting lodge
มุมมอง 28319 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Loved this little wander out to Glenfiddich Lodge with my dad. One moment I really wish I had captured was 20 or so pheasants all barrelling out of one of the old kennels as my dad was sneaking in! Definitely a heart stopping moment! Music: Empty Sky by Wanderers Trove Courtesy of Epidemic Sound
Day 6: Mistakes

Day 5: Hiking around Loch Muick with my dad

Day 1: Welcome to my attempt at a video advent!
มุมมอง 53วันที่ผ่านมา
It was one of my goals this year to make ~24 videos for December so I could do my version of 'vlogmas'....I can already say that I won't quite reach that goal, but I'll get as many videos out as I can. My first fail was forgetting to film a 'day 1 introduction' and having to make and post this on day 3! I only remembered mid-gluhwein at a Munich christmas market and there wasn't much I could do...

great video ! . you have a new subscriber right here
Thank you. ☺️
lovely! nice one
love it! the cliffs to stonehaven are particularly spectacular
It's a really lovely walk. 😊
yay! this one i can actually claim to have visited myself, though didn't go in - amazing location!
It's such a cool place to visit. Me and Mattia had someone take photos of us up there eating fish n chips and drinking irn bru in the cold/wind because we looked so Scottish (didn't matter that neither of us actually are!)
The others are better? That view at the start was cracking. I see your dad clicking away - plenty of interest there. I thought it was pretty dramatic. So, good to see you out with your dad. All the best. Mark
It's totally awesome...I think the other two are just more special to me somehow. Yeah, it's great. He travels up about once a year and it's always fun to go off on some hikes and take him to some cool spots. ☺️
@@smalladventures9021 Hey, good to hear of the awesomeness, and hey your dad.
Glad you made it out to Glenfiddich after doing Blackwater, this is a beautiful walk love the video
Thank you. They're both such cool spots. Looking forward to exploring more of the area. ☺️
fascinating! what an interesting spot
Aberdeen-to-Hereford-walk-reveal-at-100k-subs 😆
Only 7 days of continuous walking according to google maps!
@@smalladventures9021 never sure how embarassed to be about this, but on the days where i've walked near continuously i pretty reliably conk out after around 18 miles plugging in the numbers then - this journey would likely take me something like 24 days 😬
this was lovely! thankyou
the tone whiplash with the rest of your content! 😆 I almost hope you make a super-compilation of all these episodes just to experience the smash between ~~~soft~~~flowing~~~relaxing~~~scottish~~~rivers 🏞🏞🏞 and /// FIRE🔥ANGER🔥DESTRUCTION !!!! this does look fun tho
😅 This footage has been sitting in my 'drafts' for so long it was great to finally do something with it. It was honestly so much fun!
Beautiful scenery with pleasant background music.
Wonderful! 🏞
I love this area. ☺️
Why do people feel the need to destroy things,
It's so disappointing. 😔
Odd route choice to get south of Perth to the M74 - usually go via Stirling and then on to M80, M73, M74. :) Have done Hereford and back in the same day a few times.... I'm glad we have much less traffic here in Scotland.
Wasn't it? My memories a bit foggy but I seem to think there were some roadworks and then we took the wrong road so we decided to keep following the satnav and suddenly we were taking the weirdest route! We definitely didn't come back that way! 😅 On the same day?! Good effort!
Shame someone can't do something with it, any idea how it got abandoned?
I think it was just expensive to maintain and it gradually fell into disuse. 😔 Such a shame.
they're wonderful places, we don't have anything like that where we are, a wonderful place to explore
We're very lucky there are so many on our doorstep. Whereabouts are you?
looks wonderful! is it often this pleasant in summer up there?
It has its moments! ☺️ We get a lot of light and it doesn't rain as much here on the east coast (as the west) but it's not very warm!
Nice ❤ I thought everyone has turned aesthetic happy to see you
@@NightDude-v9h Thank you. It's hard to be aesthetic with strip lighting! 😅
Looking for this. More realistic working environment 😊. Thanks
@@sarinabraham188 That's great to hear. Thank you! ☺️
two land-art monuments on one hill - that's pretty far out and both were very good. A good ol walk too and hey you got some summer rain. You guys looked mellow. All the best. Mark
It's such a unique spot. I still need to go back for a closer look at that stag. ☺️
@@smalladventures9021 It is I agree - see you out there.
🎄🎄🎄
brilliant! 🏞 what an incredible place!
It really is! This was my third trip and we really lucked out on the weather! 🙌🏻
Have definitely seen less-aesthetic offices am i the only one who doesn't know what a Pomodoro is ? other than what sounds like a delicious pasta sauce
True... I think I'm just used to seeing really beautifully set up study/work videos with no clutter or strip lighting! 😂
what an amazing place! love the waterfall
great location! looks amazing
Channel boost idea This exact video, but place a QR for a cash prize in a single frame somewhere in the video (probs in the back 3rd, gotta max that engagement) & invite people to find it evil 😈 buuuut ....🤔
(or... maybe just say you put the QR in, but don't! 😈😈 )
@@ForestArchaicCollective Ahaha! Love this idea!
@@smalladventures9021 perhaps it strays from the original purpose of the video... Do-some-work-with-me becomes: 'spend-several-hours-giving-yourself-an-eye-strain-headache-while-looking-for-an-image-1/24th-of-a-second-long'
@ForestArchaicCollective peak procrastination material!
you can't beat an earth house can't remember which one it is now but the friends i was with insisted we put the electric fence to the test there's a slow mo vid that exists somewhere of me getting zapped
I bet that's incredible footage! Can't beat a slow-mo!
thanks for the shoutout! I am indebted to you guys for so many sites around Aberdeenshire 😊 i can scarcely make it through an episode without having to pause, go to maps and add more pins!
I had to re-film a couple of times because ForestJungle... was stuck in my mind! You can practically see the cogs whirring! Loved the sites though, what beauties?!
these look incredible! did you guys spring for some new cameras?
Yes...the Sony ZV-E10. ☺️ I only really use it for still shots because it doesn't stabilise well whilst walking, but it's a nice little camera.
this channel is so wholesome ☺
Thank you!
Can we do any of this when we come visit?
Sure! We tried to take you and Franco to the Aberlemno stones last time you were here, but we forgot that they were in their protective casing for winter! 🤦🏻♀️
Full support from Canada 🫶🤗🍒🇨🇦🎄🎄🎄
Thank you so much! ☺️
Very relaxing! I hope all's well in Scotland. :)
Brilliant. Love this video 🐰
Really beautiful 🌄
Hi...Did you end up finding a different tent. I looked at the Vango 350, but the recent model has a 3000mm HH versus the older 350's that had 5000mm HH. After 'looking' a lot, to me it seems the Coyote 3 is the 'perfect' tent for its price - I just cant find anything else in the sub 200 range (My use is car camping, and the plan is to use the Coyote as a single person tent, with occasional 2 person use)
Hey, thank you for the video. Im struggling to pick between this tent, the vango omega, and the vango venture 👀 its a tough choice. Atb
In the same way that skating in the early 00's made me pay much more keen attention to asphalt, i imagine geocaching must make you view small piles of rocks very differently
always impressed at the coverage you guys get in the woods 🌳🌳🌳 anything i take amongst the trees comes out somewhere between tv static & visual mashed potato
incredible views from the top! great find :)
lovely 😊 looks great! I need to get out somewhere where the heather is out
Sole? 🌞You sure you're in Scottland?... Oooh ok I just had to whatch to the end 🌧️😅
What a unique and fascinating landmark! I loved exploring the Mormond Hill with you. The horse and stag sculptures are incredible!👍🏾🫶🏾💚💚New subscriber here
Beautiful footage. The UK is one of the most perfect countries in the world. I love going there to visit ❤
Awesome video. So much to love about it, you fitted so much into your weekend. I think i need some shepherds hut alone time 🥰
LOVE this video, you look so happy. blue sky and cold wind, one of my favourites 😊
Lovely lochs especially with the ice 😊
Excellent, the drone footage really helps to get a good view of the stag and horse
