Not sure why Ford didn't have a locking mechanism for the rear seats when its folded in the up position. Maybe you want to lewve the seat it, just need the extra room with the seat in the up position. However, drive with the seat up and tap the brakes, that seat becomes a missile. Huge oversight by ford. Sp much so, GM made that a selling point for the Suburban.
All of my seats lock into place... not sure what your trying to show here....
Brother I could hug you for this video. Feeling like an outcast with my normal engine and shiii lol
I'll settle for a fist bump... 🤜🤛
Pros: the towing capacity of the eight seater tractor, they can dig off road, If you own a farmland or orchard, and have bigger family or a big crew, you could use that to haul people in, it's perfect for oil drilling in Texas, Cons: parking that thing at crowded Walmart store parking lot is too hard, bad fuel economy, high maintenance cost with 4x4 most elderly people can't get in or out of that thing.
Damn...I've been looking for days for a video on that upper intake removal. Helps me out (and appears to be many others) a bunch! Thanks brother!
There just a big old dinosaur thats not worth triple price tag, dont be hustled to pay 30 to 40 thousand dollars, after paying this big price you lose 80 percent of the value when you leave.
Thank you very much for this video. You're right about there being no other videos on non-turbo air intake removal... it is a totally different situation than the turbo model. I'm replacing my passenger side valve cover, which is why I needed your video so bad. I appreicate you brother, thanks again.. and keep up the good work!!
You are very welcome! Hopefully your repairs go smoothly!
dont leave it parked on grass
I rebuilt the top end of the motor. There are videos on this on the channel, go check them out! And now it spends 99.99999% of its time on paved roads, lol.
And THAT'S how to get to those damn spark plugs. Thanks a TON! That makes this seem much less of a daunting task. Might save me 278 yet!
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment!
Put a 8.1 big block V8 in that
Thanks for video
I'd never buy a v10 version. Powerjoke only. Ha
I have a 2015 with the 3.5 n/a 130k and it’s got a pretty noticeable ticking sound that matches rpm but is definitely more noticeable at idle I was planning to check the plugs this definitely helped motivate me to do it
Glad it could give you some motivation! However, your ticking noise might not be your plugs. Just a fair warning!
Show sucks buddy damn boring 😔
Have you looked at our other videos yet?
You have to spin the head rest around when storing it inside the holder when folding the seats. I noticed you didn't turn it around, thats why it would go all the way down.
I always liked them, especially the 7.3L version. I own a Suburban Z71 AND LOVE IT. Fords to me tend to be harder to work on than GM v8 engines. Would love a 2500 Suburban with a Cummins 5.9/6.7, but a duraburb will do too.
Kudos for this great video. I was looking at the plug change thinking how easy it would be until I saw the one plug that the imbecile engineers covered with the plenum. The quote from a ford dealer was 5 hours and $780 CAD. It looks like you went through the agony and this is a comprehensive demo on how to save that green. One note to all the automotive engine design engineers out there is that I despise coil packs and plugs that are stuffed in a tunnel through the intake manifold. Do not do that. Bring back the days of exposed spark plugs as in pre-2000 engines so a job like this can take the 15 minutes that it should.
Took me about 2 hours to get this done. So 5 hours of labor is a very high estimate. Just be sure to change your gaskets to avoid any trouble down the road with vacuum leaks!
@shift-heads1686 yeah I tell the ones I do also the same.. use that saying since we are in here we can or would recommend to charge this etc.. most time they do it u let them know hey if you don't and down the road give you problems you don't want to do this again.. just do it once get it all and move on lol
4X2? Looks like a 4X4
Mine is a 2wd, with a lift kit on it.
@@shift-heads1686 I have an '03 Eddie Bauer V10, all stock, black with 200,000 miles. love it and it loves me😆
We love ours too! It's been a good truck! P.S. GO PATS!
Hey I have a 2015 3.5 non eco boost and I’m trying to find the cam position sensor b bank 1. I’ve seen diagrams of it being on top of the valve cover on the passenger side. Is that where it’s located?
Cam sensors are actually on the rear (towards the firewall) on the head. There are 2 per head. Make sure you replace the correct one. If you're not sure, I would replace all 4.
With the diesel you get good fuel economy
I love my 02 6.8 limited, paid $4000 cash and so far all its needed was oil changes and a alternator and threw a new battery in to be safe. Its at 204,893 miles as of today and still like new inside and out besides rocker rust. Great truck and the gas mileage does suck but i do use my cruise control alot which seems to really help. Also removed the rear seat to take some weight out because i dont use it. Ik it doesnt make much of a difference taking out the third row in a truck this heavy but figured it couldnt hurt. I travel 32 miles to and from work on roads that are 55 mph speed limits but im in a more country area in michigan that butts up near the suburbs so theirs not a insane amount of traffic or anything here. I set the cruise at about 57 mph and get on average between 14-15 mpg on the ol' lie-o-meter, highest it ever showed was 17.8 with cruise set to 60 on a brisk 36 degree morning but when Im stuck in city driving with lots of stop and go it instantly goes down to 7-9mpg. Highway driving usually averages me out at 15-16 mpg at 70 anything higher mpg suffers but again idk for sure because those average mpg trip meters like to lie. I also have no exterior mods like the brush guard, lift or anything besides rain guards on the windows and slightly bigger then stock tires.
Rear veiw mirror wasnt working?
Thank you !!!!!!!!
Is the ceiling supposed to be gone?
Yeah, the headliner in this one isn't that great. We will restore it someday.
Bro. Thank you so much. I was searching for a non echo boost you made it look pretty easy. Love all the little tips to. And I could hear and understand you. Wondering how long it took you. To do. Well that's what I'm doing 1st thing in the morning. Hopefully I can get to work around lunch. Thanks again my friend
Took me about an hour and a half. But I've got years of experience. Plan for at least 2 hours, and take your time!
How long did it take to complete the job
Took me about an hour and a half.
Thanks bud 🙏
I got a 2003 V10 and that was my first new car ! I still have it and have 250K plus miles. I live in Chicago land and I got some of the rust and my hitch rusted off last month.I never getting rid of it LOL. Great video.
Heeeel yeah
Thanks for telling all the crooks how to break into our excursions😂
Don't fool yourself... they already knew.... lol
Great, simple video. I was looking for the same reason you were. That sneaky little bolt in the back was holding me up. Hope my mileage comes back up after new plugs. 👍
Oh my god.THANK YOU. I have been trying to figure out how to get to those for a few weeks. Idk much about working on trucks, and this was too intimidating. You could also add "non Ecoboost" in the description to help others find it. for someone that doesnt know much about cars, i wasnt sure if "non turbo" applied to my truck or not
You are very welcome! We don't really do videos explaining how to fix things. I just saw a lack of instructional videos to do basic maintenance on the non-ecoboost engines in these trucks.
It's called drafting. Watch NASCAR racing. No trap skills.
BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!!!
Spark plug #?
Sp520ax (0.051") Motorcraft
I have a 6.8 v10 4x4 at 169000 miles, besides 10 mpg and normal ware and tear, pretty good truck
It looks like he fits fine.
I most definitely did not fit. Not comfortable at all! Lol
Jake is so funny! I bet he gets that from his mom.
You shall be held accountable for your comments Jake!!!!!!!!!
Shift-heads~love it- how excellent -take it easy~ 😎
It lives 3/4 of its time at the gas station and the other part Turing back around to the gas station to complete it
That reminds me.... I need gas...
The amount of times you had to say “that wrench is too big!” 😂
Yeah, he doesn't listen well, lol.
Which spark plugs did you use? Sp-580 or sp-534? And what would be the difference? Also should I just get the spark plugs or replace the coils as well? 2015 XL f150 NA with 88k miles Thanks!
I believe I used SP520, and I'm not sure about the difference. I would recommend replacing the coils as well, but use only Motorcraft coils.
Thank you. Thank you.
I think the reason there are so few videos on the 3.5NA is there is seldom a need to work on them. I just passed 200k on mine and installed the second set of spark plugs. Didn't need to but I thought it might be a good idea. In my opinion, this is one of the best engines ever. Just a tad over 210 CI and it pulls like a 400 cube engine. I've maxed this thing out on many occasions pulling heavy loads clear across the country and it does it in stride. Who needs those turbos? Two sets of plugs, and oil changes when the truck tells me it's time, usually around 8000 miles and that's it. It still runs smooth and doesn't burn a drop of oil. Just a great engine in a great truck. But thanks for the video. Good job.
The ecoboost is nothing but a pig with lipstick. You don't need it. First thing I did when I looked at it was say, "no way" and I bought the regular aspirated. For all the ecoboost trucks I see sitting at the side of the road, I think my decision was 100%.
How many miles does it have now? Have a f150 with 75k miles with this engine. just want to know what to expect in the future
Wtf
That front pull out cup holder was robust, might not look it but but they hold up.
I've had several break on many different trucks.... maybe you got lucky, lol
Thank you! Saved me a bunch of time trying to figure it out. Sucks that everything online is only for the 3.5L ecoboost.
Glad it was helpful!
The only con on my Excursion is that the steering sucks.
That's fixable. I did a video on changing the steering box and tie rods on mine! Really helped with the steering!
@@shift-heads1686 just changed the steering box and didn’t help. Think I need an alignment and the leaf spring are off a gas Excursion because I think there was a frame swap on mine.
I broke a clip on one of those vacuum line. Ended up using a old radiator hose as a replacement and have no problems. Over 5k milss so far
Thank you so much! I was beginning to think that I had the only 3.5l that wasn't an EcoBoost. You helped me a ton!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Likewise, I didn’t find any naturally aspirated videos until yours. Much gratitude for the tutorial especially since it’s not your normal practice. Very very helpful video. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
