PFFT!!! NEW HPS bulb # 0803 didn't even last a YEAR!!!
This HPS bulb was installed 10 months ago and failed prematurely. I hate to say it but we need to continue switching to LEDs. Don't get me wrong, HPS and HID in general is great, but not when this happens. Yeah, LEDs fail too, but typically if they're manufactured with quality in mind, you might see them last upwards of a decade or more. Anyway, yesterday, the streetlight was emitting a suspicious pinkish glow, pinker than usual. Today it started cycling. PG&E won't do anything about it, and neither will the mobile home park where this light pole resides. Pathetic situation. Southlake needs to do better.

(Before restoration) Testing a Pedestal Fan from my Childhood

Stored in a basement for its entire life, this fan has been used and abused for years. It was made by SMC in 2002 under the brand Home Essentials. The grille is missing the fasteners that are supposed to secure it to the fan. Thus the grille will not be used on the fan for a while. Looking back on my sharpie markings on the control, I find it interesting that I thought of this fan as an air con...

What is wrong with my cheap computer fan?
มุมมอง 641หลายเดือนก่อน
Ever since I cleaned it off, it has been struggling to get up to speed and it is growling. I had to stick a screwdriver into the fan grille to get it to shut up. This certainly isn’t doing the computer fan any good but hey, the side covers for the computer case are long gone and it is probably toast. I hear other computer fans starting to go out. Thanks, Apevia. That’s true quality right there....

Oiling the dry bearings on the radon fan
มุมมอง 47หลายเดือนก่อน
After a year and a half of 24/7 service it has developed a bearing noise. These are DC computer fans. I decided to inject oil into the fan bearings to silence the noise. At the end of the video a faint noise remains but should go away as the oil seeps into the rest of the bearings.

Damn it Southlake (New Cycling HPS)
มุมมอง 27หลายเดือนก่อน
PG&E quit maintaining the streetlights. Now southlake won’t maintain them. What next? Do I have to change the bulbs myself? You’ve been “fixing the problem” for months on end. Sooner or later all the streetlights will be completely dead. Don’t you love dark streets? CALTRANS does better maintenance than this.

Without a rewire, I turned an ethernet jack into an outlet

_*USER ASSUMES ALL RISKS IF THIS OUTLET IS INSTALLED IN PLACE OF AN ETHERNET JACK*_ An outlet that is powered via an ethernet cable. Nice to see the “HAMPTON BAY SF-50 !!1!1!1!11!1!” Running. Good video.
No, I cannot do anything about it. I have no way to easily remove this fan from the computer.
Yes you do, there are screws on the outside to remove it. A replacement costs $5
LOL! It tried its best… something tells me that blade has a bit too much radial runout
Have you heard of Global Industrial?
Where is the parts website at?
www.thingiverse.com/thing:6648701
the motor may be going out or the spoke brace has sagged from heat and the fan blade is coming into contact with the fan housing. hope this helps
idk but this infuriated me, stop killing the fan
you are stupid that whats wrong
Thanks for this comment, it was really nice of you!
Eh, Fonz, slapping the fan won't fix the bearing. Not the Screwdriver, WHAT ARE YOU DOING! Tech gore. There is no easy way to fix and it's pointless, buy a new one.
Busted ball bearing probs, you gotta replace it.
Depending on how you cleaned it you could've washed off lubrication or rust something etc.
I can feel the rage 😂
It's Apevia brand that's what's wrong.
Oh I think the fan could be loose. Try to tighten it. But if that doesn’t work then just use the “HAMPTON BAY SF-50!!!!!!111!1!!1!11” to cool it down.
how do i tighten it

* If you're NOT using a 360 nozzle, and you're having trouble aiming the nozzle where you want, rotate the stem of the popup sprinkler by hand. It should make a clicking / ratcheting noise. Do not use a tool. It's recommended to rotate it clockwise.
I found a fan on the side of the road. I'm not sure if anyone's gonna pick it up, but if nobody does I will.
Same with my street. There is a light that is stuck on the ignition stage. I hope they won’t be surprised when the ignitor explodes.
Describe the issue. Is it flickering/shimmering? Or is it stuck on a mercury-vapor greenish blue color? Or is it just plain dim? If it's on a mercury-vapor greenish color, the arc tube has leaked out. It is a miracle that the bulb is still on. If it's flickering/shimmering, that's no good either, and that's going to kill the ignitor in days.
@@sccpsteve it’s flickers like mercury vapor then gives up. Then after awhile it tries again. Some times it take hours to strike an ark and then it will work Untill dawn. And my street light infront of my house still cycles out when I turn on my ac.
@@zenozer0themechanicalchann720 Sounds like the electric company expects these to last forever with no maintenance.
@@sccpsteve its like expecting a "HAMPTON BAY SF-50!!!!!111!1!1" to heat up my room. but in all seriousness its getting really bad. I kind of wonder if their doing this on purpose to replace it with led.
@@zenozer0themechanicalchann720 Personally, despite the fact that HPS is better than LED, I would have every streetlight replaced with LED. LED streetlights... *when they actually work properly...* are virtually maintenance free. LEDs are only good if they're built to last. I have had an LED post top installed about a year ago and it surprisingly has not a) turned purple, b) started flashing, c) flickered, or d) got dim or burnt out. The leotek streetlight heads outside of my mobile home park are dropping like flies after a few years of being on the pole.
* The light stayed off for 1 and a half minutes.
Nice outlet. Now it can be used to power the HAMPTON BAY SF-50 !!!!!1!1!1 (I love this joke)
You may ask, why add an outlet next to an outlet? Well, this is just a proof of concept. It'll still be there for many years but it's definitely not going to be used often. The real situation is that there's an ethernet jack in the master bedroom that's right behind a TV. Since that ethernet jack does *nothing*, I'm planning to turn that into an outlet. You may also ask, why would I turn an ethernet jack into an outlet in the first place. I'm aware that it's unsafe. However, the wires remained at room temperature and did not seem to heat up, after running a 2.2 amp box fan on the outlet for 2 hours. The way I wired this is by using one of the four pairs of wire for each leg (i.e. hot, neutral, ground). This distributes the load amongst the two wires and makes it a little safer. But still, don't try this at home unless you know what you're doing. The user assumes all risks for this sketchy modification.
cool box fans but i never seem a fan like the second one with the McMillian i enjoyed the video

BAD FAN need smash
Do you think you'll be able to repair the hub on the 97' D blade? I looked all over for a baggie with the pieces.
Unsure. The damage is not that bad, however I have not developed a solution yet.
Upon testing the blade on my marco motor, the blade miraculously remained on the shaft during the 5 minute test. Edit: Results: the blade did not perform well at all. It moved the same amount of air as a modern 3733, which is absolutely pathetic. The blade is extremely warped, but it's too brittle to even consider doing an unwarp.
Cool to see the blades in action already! :)
I think your camera is going to explode. (Just kidding) what camera are you useing I wonder if it’s a software problem I might be able to help you troubleshoot it?
iPhone 13. The optical image stabilization is screwed up. I have NO other cameras. The lens is completely gone on the affected camera, and the camera is too blurry to use. I'd appreciate if you could send a camera my way.
