4 Actors You Know, But Don't Know...But Should Know!
มุมมอง 3.6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Hi there! In this video I've selected four of my favorite actors who, while not on the A-list, are well known and respected in their industry for delivering big impact with minimal screen time, Character actors some of them may be, but is that a good thing? I'm sorry I neglected to feature any women in this video - there are without a doubt many fantastic actresses who deserve more recognition ...

Drew's Trip to Tokyo: Face Bread, Toilet Music, and Donki
มุมมอง 20Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In November 2024, I was invited by CY of Tokyo Station Pens and Kyuseido to Tokyo. I attended the Tokyo International Pen show, made an appearance on CY's podcast (Tokyo Inklings) and was guided around Tokyo for a few days. In this video, I recap my trip by clicking through my photos and videos that I took - and try to remember all of the highlights. In retrospect, I definitely missed a lot (I ...

I saw another comment that mentioned TH-camrs burning out and definitely don't want that to happen to u, so please don't go too crazy on the videos. Drew, I feel like you have a secondary calling in life! These two videos were very wise, and definitely worth listening to and mulling over. When I remember painful mistakes I've made in the past and start to guilt myself over them, I try to remind myself that if I never regretted any mistakes that would mean I never learned from them.

    Congratulations, sir! 🎉 I’m really curious-do you think it will be a challenge to make a new marketing approach feel distinct from your previous videos? I'm excited to see the fresh perspective you’ll bring to the pen world; it's always fascinating when someone reinvents their approach while staying true to their roots. And while we’re on the subject, any chance we might see a special edition collaboration with Fahrney and Retro 51 to commemorate the occasion? A fountain pen version would be the perfect way to mark this milestone in style! (Yes, I understand Writeside said they’ll remain independent)

    Such great stuff. Brene Brown is awesome, it must be really cool that she's your aunt! Lol, couldn't help it, but you've really channeled some of her info which is super great. Love the content, and it would be a really good book if you could figure out how to make it work. One idea would be to crowdfund it, and if successful you could work with the right artist and people that format kids books so that you aren't doing it all yourself. The Kickstarter would just need enough research to know how much funding you'd need to pay the people you are partnering with, printing, shipping, etc. Maybe you've already thought about this, but I could see it coming to life and that makes me really excited :)

    Dear Drew, You are an amazing parent and I wish I had known someone like you when I was raising my kids. Please seriously think about writing that book. "Enjoy what you're not good at" dovetails into one of my favorite quotes, from Henry Petroski: "If we copy success, the eventual result is going to be failure. We don't often understand fully why successful designs work. And they often mask potential failures. No matter how closely we follow successful models, designing something new involves new conditions that require changes in the design." From "Success Through Failure," an interview with Jeff Stein, AIA, in Architecture Boston, May/June 2007. Petroski spoke in terms of engineering, but I think his words are broadly applicable to life in general. One of my most satisfying experiences was learning a piano piece that I knew I could not play at performance tempo. My analogy was that I was walking a marathon for love of the course.

    Thanks for summarizing these superpowers, that most of us had to learn the hard way, and still are. I think a kids book is a wonderful idea. You could have a chapter on each superpower, with a short story that illustrates the lesson to be learned and perhaps, if it applies, how hard life can be without that superpower. Children love stories, so tell a story about each of the lessons/concepts, with illustrations. 📖🖋

    This is a great idea for topics.. please keep going! One thing I bet you could speak to is how to move forwards when things fall apart. And another I've always loved when you talk about is the importance of not yucking on other people's yum. Somewhere in between those two topics there's also a connection about not trying to "fix" what you don't understand. And if you're bored with talking about life skills, I'm still waiting for your episode devoted to the awesomeness that is breakfast food. I'm sure you've been pondering it! I need this content! Lol 😉 (no pressure. ❤️ )

    In raising my son who is a gentle soul, and a hard worker, with a great sense of humor, I look back on what we did that made a huge difference in his resilience, and grit, and self-control, and it was Taekwondo. He is actually a classical pianist and a piano major, so not your typical image of a boy doing Taekwondo. But we weren’t familiar with martial arts, and I enrolled him one cold wintry day when I felt like weather was too cold to do a whole lot to get the wiggles out. Many years later, I feel like Respect, Self control, Indomitable spirit, all the tenets of Taekwondo were big pluses for his future self. If this helps one parent out there, great.

    • @Drewinstuff
      @Drewinstuff 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

You mentioned in another video that your family gatherings are good, everyone is ok with each other and I think family is a whole generation of people teaching people how to keep together. This really great advice. Way back when I was a kid. I enjoyed Super Man. One day I asked my Mother to pin a towel around my shoulders, like Super Man. I ran around the yard imagining I was Super Man. I wanted to fly like him, I just knew I could. So I climbed on top of the well-house and then on to the roof of the house. I was going to fly! My mother ran outside and yelled at me to come down. “I’m going to fly” I told her. “Even Super Man does what his mother tells him to do” was her reply. So I came back down without flying. Because even Super Man does what his Mother tells him to do.

    I feel like a children's book needs to be more storyline based and not an Epictetus style list of abstract ideas. That being said, it seems perfectly doable. Come up with a quirky identifiable protagonist and hire a capable artist and you might just come up with a classic!

I'm not great at it, I'm not making great progress (by other people's standards) but I just enjoy the process and the way my guitar looks and feels in my hands. Just strumming the chords is very relaxing to me. It took me a long time to get to this mindset. Thanks for the video Drew. I love the analogies you use. Balance Your Pizza <3
