Attempting A Marathon! | Summer Squash Training - Episode 12
Final week of the summer squash training and the final week was supposed to be the last week of the running program (10 miles). I’ve always wanted to attempt a marathon so here is my go at it. I was going strong for the first 20 miles then ran out of water and had to wait while my girlfriend got me more from the car to continue. I was going at around a 9:30-9:45/mile pace up until then, then waited a while (40 mins around) for water. I then continued the last 6 miles and my actual running time was around 4hr 20-30mins, not including the time waiting for water. I definitely am glad I tried it and will actually prepare smarter next time. That’s a wrap on the summer squash training this year, I appreciate you all watching. Let me know the furthest you’ve ever run and if you were able to meet some of your goals this summer! I’ll be posting again regularly once courts get up and going a bit more consistently. Thanks for watching and make sure to like and subscribe for more content!

I need my serves to go all the way to the back😭 I've been playing a couple of league matches and they've been making me suffer with their serves whilst my serve is a normal serve😢 i really wanna serve all the way to the back of the court.

When you're a beginner and playing with another beginner, if you turn back to follow the movement of the ball, your opponent might hit the ball at your face (I saw this happen to two beginners), so whether to turn or not depends on your level of play?

That's unfortunate that that happened, but it's still a good habit to do. The fix here is to wear protective glasses instead of not looking back

Good video. I would add a complete section on the grip, e.g. non-closed and no wrist-breaking on the backhand -- as those are the major problems for all new players unless otherwise instructed. The new player (me for 10 years 40 years ago) wants to hold the flat part of the racquet against the palm of the hand because it feels natural. Little does one know that such a grip is 100% wrong (thanks to Simon Taylor from the UK correcting me and saving my squash career :)) -- the grip has to be twisted so that the racquet face is OPEN on the forehand (allowing balls to be returned that are other past the strike zone, and allowing lobs [not possible with a closed grip on the forehand]) -- the open racquet face on the forehand then forces a cocked wrist on the backhand which is 100% required for power and accuracy. Sadly, the number one thing missed by all newbs unless otherwise instructed. Good reference from famous Mike Way: th-cam.com/video/6uuDRO8SKJ0/w-d-xo.html ... .and a shout out to the terrific Simon Taylor: th-cam.com/video/837BM5QMK1A/w-d-xo.html

You missed one in which I would categorise myself in which is the hunter/volleyer. Always trying to look to take the ball early at every opportunity and end ralleys quickly. I’d say this is the most aggressive play style that you can have as you have to have a really high T position. The counter to this put more hold into shots to send them in a taxi to a place they thought you would play it. Sometimes they even play themselves out of games for trying to be aggressive when it ain’t on

Nice tips. I can do most of these but struggle with Knick shots haha. It’s sometimes by chance when trying the angle. Fake can also be by showing you will hit cross court or long shot and then doing opposite I like doing that 😊

Hi your tips are good, but there are some additional details. 1. You claiming that your body should be parallel to side wall which is not always true, better explanation is "have your hips parallel to sidewall" (there are also exceptions like the boast). 2. Looking in the back is ok, but better is looking at your opponent and even better try to guess (based on his body position and personal experience) what he is about to do. But overall your tips are good start for beginners :)

Different. You need to able to strike the ball well to play a decent game of squash. For beginners it's difficult. Tennis is easy to pick up as anyone can hit the ball over the net, as you see on holidays, but intermediate to advanced tennis is nuts
