Have you seen or know that do LSW’s exist on Whitmoor Common, Worplesdon? I might have seen one but not sure. It looks a bit scrawny and more mottled black/white

yesterday in upton upon severn a male one hit our window knocked out but next day he wasnt there got some lovley photos of him close up and i stroked when he came round kept him warm this morning he flew off i feel very honoured to be close up to this bird beautifull.

You shouldn’t be going anywhere near Goshawk territories without a licence

Should I wear a protective helmet? They can get pretty aggressive when young are in the nest.

I,m a amateur birder,and I find for me their call is the best way of identifying them, its like a weak kestrel sound👍 Elated when I heard my first, but never saw it 😞 Hampole wood south Yorkshire 👍

Very informative! Thank you. We have them coming back to nest on our terrain, each year, as well, in the middle of France (Allier, Auvergne). We've been following them for several years, now. Here is one of the videos I made of them: th-cam.com/video/sdZzh9XtN2A/w-d-xo.html (mating!). Last summer, they raised two chicks (always on the same nest). I would love for this nest site to be part of a research/monitoring/ringing program.

Loving the channel

Had a LSW in the garden for the first time today at 10.40 for round 15 mins, sifting out its preferred food from seed mix in large feeder. Sitting in. Dull head colouring so assume this is a juvenile. Will put out more food this evening. I would like to know more about this organisation and how I could help?

You just got to find an area of woodland that has a good wide view & sit watching for hours for a brief glimpse.

I. Was camping at a site directly next door to Leighton moss rspb in silver Dale Lancashire a year ago and I saw over the space of the first two days when I got there what was either a marsh or willow tit actually about four flitting around but admittedly I don't know for sure .

They don't always nest in pine trees, they use deciduous as well. Suitable hunting area is more important. There is an article about them in Bird Watching magazine.

I'm still not able to say that I have seen a goshawk although I know that I can go to keilder and forest of Dean and new forest and other known hot spots however I am desperately waiting to see them in my own patch of Lancashire as I know that they have been seen and have nested in various areas....I particularly want to see them in the Blackburn and Darwen area where there is huge conifer plantations and I have spoken with some lucky people who have seen them there......I know that they are around the Gisburn forest area and Bowland....

I thought long eared were more common in the south of Britain. I live in Lancashire and i have watched the short eared on many occasions but I have only caught a glimpse of long eared

What binocular magnification is best to use for monitering raptors and owls?
