Gotta save the bellies for the smoked salmon dip!!
Thanks for joining today! I hope you enjoy our latest episode! This was an excellent day in the air and on the water! Let me know in the comments if you think it would be worth the $750 price tag per person. Considering a halibut charter for the day is $350 per person and a bear tour across Cook Inlet is ~$1,000 per person, I thought this was a really good price point, worth the cost!
I am subscribing because I have dip-net before, but never in my underwear! You gained my respect! I will stick to flossing on the Kenai in my waders!!
Thanks for the sub! My friends think I have polar bear DNA in me?? I think I am just better at suffering than most.
I've had Alaskan Salmon. I've had Tasmainian Salmon farmed off-shore. Both look wonderful - one nurtures my existance.
Thanks for checking out our episode! I love salmon and hope to feature them routinely on our channel. If you enjoy them too check out future episodes!
your pole is too short, i used to do that and mine was 12 to 16 foot and the best place is the deep holes
I agree. I have a longer pole on another net but it is so clumsy getting up to the falls I typically just use my regular net. If a group of us is heading up to get several limits, it is worth the effort to bring that net. For six fish I figured I would just work a little harder with the smaller net.
Amazing, these bears are some of the best fishers out there.
Very efficient! Love watching them work!
Nice my friend
Excellent day on the water! Thanks for checking it out.
Very cool, Luke. Living the dream!
It was a chilly, but really fun day. The dip netting was a last minute bonus on an already good day on the water. Next week's episode is a really fun fly-in snagging salmon and watching Brown Bear.
Fishing in your underpants, where there could be bears. You are definitely made of tougher stuff than most. Thanks for the entertaining video.
Thanks for checking it out! More good content coming up, including some casting near Brown Bear.
So interesting! And Lucas, you're so entertaining!!
Thanks for watching! I hope you are well. The upcoming episode also features a few Brown Bear, you will want to check it out!
I am happy to see you all having a TH-cam video . I also missed your TV show. I will be watching the videos. Peace and Blessings 🙏
Glad to hear you enjoy the content and their shows. Thanks for watching!
This was really interesting! How many salmon can you catch? Does it depend on type? What happens if you catch too many? It looks like the net kills them so you couldn't just throw them back. Is the amount per set or per season? I hope you do more videos on set fishing, I really enjoyed it.
It is an amount per season. Total salmon of 50, if we need more we can contact fish and game to get permission for additional fish. I will release an episode of dip netting the salmon this coming Sunday, another way of harvesting fish in our area of Alaska.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 Awesome! I'm looking forward to it. When I first found your page, I didn't think I'd be interested in the fishing. I'm glad I gave it a try.
Love your videos! Since being there, these feel like I'm still there! Love your sense of humor too! You guys are a great team!
Thanks for checking out the latest video. The next one in China Poot will have some really cool scenes around a very beautiful river. I am sure thankful for the awesome edits and music Zac comes up with each week!
Woohoo! Nice load!
It was a great set, those were some beautiful kings!
Very helpful how to. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
Love watching your show through the years, repeats over and over. Otto you gave us scars, Charlotte your a strong young woman you did good.
Great summary! Thanks for checking out the episode!
My dad was a world traveler. He said Alaska was one of the most beautiful places on earth. ❤️
I agree!!!
I loved that story
What a cool opportunity for Charlotte!
. Seen people tie beer cans to dogfish and act like Quint in Jaws
Hahahaha, I will need to try that some time!
What a God Send, I have missed the Kilcher family so much. I have watched every single episode, some more than once. Thank you Otto. Hoping your beautiful wife is well. God Bless.
So glad you caught our podcast with Otto, it was such a blast hanging out with him for the afternoon. I hope you enjoy future content!
need a good cardio plan ahead of these trips
Yes, but very cool adventures!
didnt get the notification. great info
We did not push to our subscribers right away to make TH-cam work harder pushing to other potential listeners. We trial this off and on. Still trying to figure out what works best. 🤷🏼♂️
Very nice catch!!!
Thanks! It was a heck of a battle for Micah, glad he prevailed!
THIS IS NOT OTTO'S CHANNEL SOMEBODY REPOSTING HIS STUFF SO YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT GOING TO OTTO!!!! SOMEBODY TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF HIS POSTS!!!
That's true, this is not Otto's channel. This is a podcast where Otto was a guest. Lucas and Troy are friends with Otto and Charlotte Kilcher. There are fake sites out there... this is not one of them.
@@storyfilmproductions nice to know that I can't stand it when someone tries to benefit off someone hard work. Hope you get lots of subscribers and views ✌👍👍
Sorry if it was confusing, I interviewed both Otto and Charlotte at their home for the podcasts. We work together on various projects throughout Kachemak Bay, including other TH-cam content.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 that would be awesome to do they seem so down to earth people!!
I'll be honest, we like your You Tube Channel better. It's real! Thanks for doing this. 😊
Glad you enjoy the content, thanks for watching!
Why did they divorce?😢
They are not divorced, internet trolls say things like that but Charlotte and Otto are very happy.
Great job
Thanks, super fun day on the water.
Nice catch!
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy our content!
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 I really enjoy watching. My goal is to visit.
Great job, Luke!
Thanks! It was a battle get that one on board, been harpooning anything close to that big since that day.
Super cool!!!
This one is getting more brave by the day, now they are coming up to the table to eat with us.
Nice work Lucas!
Solo reeling and gaffing always a challenge!
Gorgeous animal.
Its mate hangs out with us too, he is a bit thinner but has no concerns with walking right up to us to ask for food.
Little dude catching fish as big as he is!
No doubt! He had a great time catching fish that day, crashed and burned pretty early that night.
Charlett--Such A Truper- Aleays loved!! Love her spirit!!
She is great! Thanks for checking out our episode!
Why do you want 14 Halibut
Folks from the 3 families who joined me took fish home to eat over the next few months. They all love fish and at $30 USD per pound of halibut at the market, this is a much lower cost option for them to procure their meals.
Wrong type of rod but nice fish 😂
I use a mooching rod and reel to troll salmon and other species all the time in coastal waters, it is pretty common in British Columbia and some parts of Alaska. Periodically I pick up a halibut trolling like this, but the gear can still work. I have caught halibut over 60 pounds with this combo in the past.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 Jesus that sounds like a rough catch
A real big Irish lord
🤪
Nice catch bud! That's a good diner!
Yes it was! Headed out soon to get another for the next few dinners.
Yup my hands are getting tired just watching
Thankfully I caught two halibut and was done, did not have to crank up any other species.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 two hours of cleaning made up for that! How far out were you?
🎉
We got it done that afternoon, I think we caught over 20 total halibut.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 very nice!
Is that a fly rod
I usually use a mooching rod and reel when trolling coastal waters. I feel like I am more successful landing salmon using these rods and reels.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 cool
Nice catch.
Thank you very much! It was a great day on the water.
OK, great hat, I know you make money doing it, but thanks just the same for what you do for veterans, my niece was up at your place last week or so , said that you guys do a great job !
That is awesome!
Loved the video! What an adventure! Greg
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking out our channel!
Halibut is my favorite fish.
Agreed! Phenomenal fish!
Good to see you Charlotte ❣️
Thanks for checking out our latest content, we hope to feature the Kilchers again in August. Subscribe to catch all our content with them.
Was anyone else waiting for a jump scare? 😭
I have to remember that for next time!😂
That’s a cool bird 🦜 ❤
We love our Steller’s Jay. They like to eat right out of our hands, really cool birds.
Never knew any jays were that blue and black...sooooo pretty!
Steller’s Jays, found all along the west coast from the Pacific NW through Alaska. Really smart birds!
Cute
Really cool birds. We have them pop into various videos we post, they are always around and always hungry!
