One word......Hilleburg!
Clearly we are rookies! Thanks for the heads up, a few other experienced folks said the same thing. That will be my next tent purchase.
Bet you have a Hilleberg next time haha.
Tell me about it, the first night in the $600 tent and it ripped wide open. Will need to upgrade.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 Alaska will find any weakness in your gear, but that's how we learn right? Miserable to experience but I bet you guys will never forget this trip. Thanks for sharing and congrats.
I remember seeing you put the flowers in the water for the Covid time! Always enjoyed your lifestyle! Thank you
Thanks for checking out the podcast!
The China Poot sockeye fishery is stocked by the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Assn. , not Alaska Fish & Game, primarily for the benefit of commercial fishers. F & G does manage both the commercial and personal use fisheries. Sockeye do not occur naturally here, so those that are not caught by the commercial fleet are allowed to be dip netted by residents. Pink salmon do occur here naturally however, and must be released.
Awesome! Thanks for the clarifications. Where does the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Assn. get its funding?
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 They are funded by a tax on the commercial fishers, based on their catch
second watch after the live for fun and that algorithm
Thanks for checking out the latest episode. I hope you and the family are doing well. We will have to catch up sometime this winter.
@@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 absolutely
Thanks for the excellent video. I really enjoyed it. I hunted Afognak Island in the early 80's and your hunt brought back memories of the tough terrain and great scenery.
I appreciate the comment. I actually went to Afognak Island the next weekend to look for elk and black tail. You will have to check out that episode to see if it brings back additional memories....
There's only BLACK bears in this area, no brown. Big difference. And these bears are acclimated to humans.
I see a lot of bears each year between the other side of K bay and Kodiak. I agree, mostly black bears on the shores of Kachemak Bay. I average seeing one brown bear a year on the coast between bear cove and the end of the Kenia Peninsula. As you know, over at our place on Kodiak no black bear, but lots of brown bear. They definitely know humans, they generally run in the opposite direction thanks to years of hunting pressure. They see us as a threat for sure.
Yeah but where would the chaga go? I would miss proximity! I’m with you Charlotte.
Thanks for checking out our podcast!
So nice. 💖👍
She is great, thanks for checking out our episode.
You’re most welcome. 😍
Loved your interview with Otto. Love your new show too!! Will watch whenever I see it listed.
Awesome! Thank you!

just another camping trip in alaska?
Pretty much, expect the unexpected, then get hit with something more.
Really nice thanks. Beautiful place
It is awesome in the alpine areas on Kodiak, the beauty is so unique.
A little too much eye make up, ladies. :) Troy must be where Otto got his Red Green suspenders from! Charlotte - you never talk about O'orianka, how is she?
Thanks for checking out the episode. Appreciate your feedback.
Dang son that’s terrible. Hopefully it works out better for you guys 👍
Thanks for checking out the episode, it was a wild ride for sure!
Left home at 16 and pitched a tent on the side of Mt Juneau, Alaska... Tough weather up there...
I bet you have some seriously good stories, that will turn you into a man very quickly!
Bohemia = Poland. :) Otto - tell us about what happened between you and the cow???!
I will talk to Otto about the cow incident and see if he would be willing to share anything in the future in that topic.
I am glad you have this channel. I miss seeing your TV show.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the content!
The terrain was insane- I’m exhausted just watching this video! So happy you got your goat, Brando! Awesome video & content, Luke & Zac!
It is almost beyond belief at times. Glad we all made it home in one piece.
Wow! I was sitting on the edge watching this! I could almost feel your pain! So glad you got a goat and made it home safe!!
Thanks! It was a wild ride for sure!
Great job capturing an adventure you will be telling stories about the rest of your lives. Alaska is beautiful and completely unforgiving.
Thanks for checking out another episode! It was one heck of an adventure, never a dull moment in the backcountry.
That was awesome! Loved the video!
Thanks for checking it out, when we were not suffering, we had a good time.
That’s was just a bit intense. So thankful you all made it back safe & sound.
Thanks! A safe return was in doubt a couple of times but we pulled it off! Whew!
U suppose drag your net down.river u would dond a lot better
I got my limit, so I was happy with the results. I have been learning a little more each year I net the river.
Nice man
One of many from my travels this year, always a treat.
Thank you! Hope all of you are well. I enjoyed your show, family, friends, adventures & scenery.
Thank you! You too!
Great hi from United Kingdom Big fan of u all there😊
Hey, thanks!
What a day Lucas!
Not the most enjoyable day on Kodiak, but I have had worse days. Thankful it all worked out in the end!
Love the candor. Charlotte levels the keel of otto for certain. I love halibut cove. Been gone 28 days from there and miss it like crazy. Good and bad weather alike.
Hopefully you can make it back soon! Thanks for checking out the episode!
Why does a dog lick its arse after a goat hunt? To get the taste of goat out of its mouth.😃
Is it that bad?
A lovely video. So natural chat. I have always envied your way of life so much so that I have booked a trip to Alaska from France August 2025. Im touring but will spend time in Homer.
Wonderful! I hope you have a great trip and enjoy your time in Homer!
Great news
Yeah buddy!
I have watched the show from day 1 and wish it would come back on tv..stay in the camper and drink ❤❤
Thanks for checking out the episode, we hope the Kilcher's are back on TV someday too!
I want to come and hang out and learn from her eve/Otto really bad..my dream to meet them 1 day❤❤
We hope you can eventually make the trip up!
You are so lovely Charlotte
She is great! Thanks for checking out our episode!
keep going
Thanks for the encouragement!
Is he dead or not can you tell me
I had dinner with Otto and Charlotte two hours ago, they are alive and well!
@DiscoveringtheLastFrontier1 sorry you know how youtube is ,someone gets hurt then they say they passed
I know, it’s too bad people post those fake stories.
Spoken by a wise, wise man 🫡
Very true!
Go charlotte ❤
She is so fun and positive, we wish her all the best too!
What a battle! Glad you managed to retrieve the boat without dying. I was also relieved to see it wasn't my splice...right? We'll wait for the formal RCFA findings.
Lots of testing follow-up in the lab. So far no smoking guns. Your splice is still holding up well!!
just watched a video saying he was dead! is nothing sacred.
Otto is alive and well, we chatted yesterday! 😂
That was a hard day for you!
Yeah, a bit more excitement than I expected when I got out of bed!
What a life you live!
Not the life for everyone, but has worked for me so far. 😵💫😳😂
I mean, you can't have an Alaskan crisis without doing an RCFA. Way to stick with it, Luke.
At least the containment actions worked for the rest of the week. Working on countermeasures for the next trip! 🤓😂
That’s my boy!! Never give in, never give up!
Hell yeah 👍🏻
There once was a hermit named Dave, who kept a dead whore in his cave, when they asked him why he did it, he had to admit it, think of all the money he saved!
Ooooooh no
Yeah, for real. Hammer mill coffee for three weeks straight!
Looking forward to this one
Cool hike and paddle on the Grewingk Glacier Lake.
I have loved them since the first show !
They are great! Thanks for checking out our content!
That’s a workout!
Especially when you have to crank up 20 grey cod to get your 4 halibut!!
