The problem with the standing rear choke is most people pull back or even lift up even if you go dead weight they are strong enough to pick up 205 lbs then he never bends over. Maybe you could still hook your leg around and kindof force it but its still going against your throat. Turning your head is probably the smartest thing so you at least get 1 artery free but anything can damage your neck here even something you do. The reality of life is the offender ALWAYS has the massive advantage. Especially from rear choke, stab, already pulled gun, and first sucker punch. 100% always assume they are going to continue to stomp your head on the asphalt and pee on you and 3 or 4 people are going to kick you and god knows what else. If you are a calm person or even a powerful person you may let someone get away with some weak sht first to avoid confrontation or legal problems. It sucks. And they can take you from a 50/50 dangerous position to a 100% dangerous position just from you being passive and peaceful or locked up without throwing any strikes still trying to de escalate the situation. This has only ever gotten me hit more as a serial "not fight beginner" and fighting is always wrong. Dont hesitate. If they think youre a rug mat they are ALWAYS going to keep going further. And you further let your guard down around shtty friends who half grab you all the time and you get used to it and then they try to dominate you for whatever reason even if theyre drunk or its about their girlfriend or who knows. His girlfriend could have broke up with him and said she secretly was in love with you blah blah blah meanwhile you have no clue and walk into the room. Extremely uncomfortable. You need to think in black and white here. They are an adult human who made their own choice to take your choice of peace away. If they strike you, or grab you, take them down. Even if its pathetic at first. Idc if theyre sad a suicidal and your best friend. If they trip on accident and "didnt mean to" with your neck in their arms your dead. Looking back there was so many times where my life was in someone else's hands when i should have broken their arm instead of sympathized. Its a miracle im even alive and can see out both my eyes. If youre the person to be there for someone while they blow up even though you showed up, youre the one theyll take it all out on just bc youre there. Ofcourse then id probably wind up in legal trouble with 3 peoples word against mine. But if i was dead itd matter less then i wouldn't even be here saying that. Even if you lose a fight there is a high chance they wont mess with you again bc fighting is ALWAYS a lose lose situation. Its whos the bigger loser game. I dont like that game. Much like our economy lol. And dating as a man. But i digress.
